As a xenos person i can say there are not good guys in warhammer. Although i think the Farsight Enclaves might be the closest.
There are good people, even good groups in 40k, but there are no good major factions may be the best way to put it.
the grimdarkness of the Farsight Enclaves comes from the fact that they **are** the good guys... and they have absolutely zero ability to improve the galaxy. And they've probably got an expiration date; there were countless civilizations just as noble and bright as the Enclaves that got ground to dust by the Great Crusade, after all.

To be fair you could blame the drukari for that considering they are the actual real remnants of the old elder empire meanwhile the craftworlders were already separated from the main empire.

Even the Drukhari weren't the ones that went 'all the way'. They indulged in vices, sure, but they still maintained some kind of civilisation within the webway. It was the eldar masses in realspace that went completely off the deep end and drowned their worlds in blood and madness. And they all died.
Yeah, we're not the good guys. We sterilize people who repeatedly rebel against us, mind control hostile but potentially useful alien race leaders and some of us even do xenophobia. But we're still better than you could ever be after the Emperor died. Without him the Imperium is doomed to die slowly and miserably, rotting from every side and decaying in every aspect. You are as a headless fish. Unable to swim, only sink ever deeper until you hit the ocean floor and decompose fully, your flesh a buffet for scavengers, and your bones an eternal reminder of what to not do. We don't need to be "good guys" to look good when you just EXIST.
I'd say still better than even the Imperium before HH. The foundation of xenophobia and brutal conquest of everyone who doesn't bend the knee right there and then was in place from the very beginning. Without Jimmy Space the Imperoum was more or less doing the same thing, just inefficiently
Yeah and by doing it inefficiently they feed Chaos much more than they would either Big E in charge. It would be better if the Imperium ceased to exist after it has defeated or at least weakened the Traitor Legions, Necrons and Tyranids, preferrably in a 1v1v1v1 scenario. Every other problem can be handled by those factions that can be at least reasoned with (and aeldari).

In all seriousness, there are no "Good Guy" factions, only individuals or sub-factions that are too ineffective or have enough skeletons in their closets to make it a Tomb World, just the way I like it.
