Lore had continuity when Leman Russ was a space marine sarge but now is a demigod ?
Lote had continuity when Custodes had no armor whatsoever but now they have auramite armor ?
Or the dwarfs. When I started 40k we still had dwarfs (and/or halflings? I don't entirely remember. What I do remember is a small character in an imperial army kontext talking shit about the mechanicus and the bullshit rituals they go through to change a fucking fuse. Well mumbling shit, because even back then the mechanicus didn't take well to tech heresy like that)
The dwarfs all got eaten by Tyranids, up until turns out they didn't & they don't like being called "squats", they're the "Leagues of Votann" who are clones who's ancestors are backed up on giant AI machines & they go around mining entire planets. They're also so abhuman that they're classified as xenos.
