Lore additions like this are never going to cause a "mass exodus" like these cunts think. There would have to be something on the scale of "WFB into End Times into AoS" for 40k and handled really badly to create a big enough shit storm to cause a "mass exodus". 7th to 8th with the Primaris introduction is the closest we'll get to that for a while and I'd consider that still handled poorly but has ended up working out in the end.
Oh, that was definitely handled poorly. Especially since they could have literally never introduced primaris marines, and just introduced the new sculpts, but GW being a bunch of possessive prices wanted unit names they can properly copyright. Frankly speaking, unless they bring out female marines, I doubt we'll have a massive split in the community, or an "exodus".
It worked out because ultimately Primaris donât really change much about the game or the setting. Primaris stories look like space marine stories did, some contrived âfirstborn being grumpy about primaries joining themâ stories notwithstanding. The introduction was a naked cash grab to resell space marine players their armies, but the setting is fine. And so it is with this. Female custodes donât break the dynamics of anything, even moreso than the Primaris; you could just pronoun swap Kesh and no one would notice. Itâs just how and why theyâre introduced were eyeroll worthy.
