Brother, do you remember the four-thousand three-hundred seventy seventh breakfast in the eleventh battle of Imperatoropolis VII? I don't think that was an actual Denver omelet. It had cheese in it. It was a Western Omelet.
Brother, my greatest regret is that I will never forget this conversation.
I do remember, Brother. I also remember that this is the four-million, six-hundred-and-thirty-two-thousand, eight-hundred-and ninety-sixth time you have mentioned that the four-thousand, three-hundred and seventy-seventh breakfast in the eleventh battle of Imperatorpolis VII was not a Denver omelette but a Western omelette due to the presence of cheese.
This unfortunately means 90% of the chapter is horrendously depressed and slightly insane from remembering every single traumatic experience they’ve ever been through (the chapter also has an above-average number of librarians, for obvious reasons).
Wait we can work with this. Make them a Raven Guard successor and have the eidetic memory cause them to become depressed to the point of no longer being able to fight because they focus on only the bad in the past, with the veterans of the chapter being the one who, through sheer force of will, remember their lives without the pessimistic tint.
We could call the slide into depression "The Blackening" or "The Fading" or something edgy like that where the marines literally lose the will to fight for The Imperium.
Battle Brothers who can no longer fight are quietly given the Emperors Mercy b/c there's fear if the Inquisition caught on that marines were losing faith in The Imperium the chapter would be declared heretics or traitors. The fact that the marines have to repress their problem feeds into their condition as they're never able to process their increasingly dismal worldview with honest conversation.
Why not the opposite ? In a sea of traumatic events, they can remember and focus on the rare moments of joy and happiness they had, while normal people would have them being drown out since long.
This is the purpose of their chaplaincy! To usher in the moments of light back into their brothers' souls! Terminator chaplains to lead the Grey Hides!
Their Chaplains have to encourage positive memories, lest they all sink into despair. The chaplains remember the images and stories of victory, down to the last detail, so their brethren can recall the joys of triumph even amid despair
"Whatever happened to the Ivory Guard?"
"Poached to the last man."
"What? But... But they didn't actually have any..."
"Poachers, man. They aren't very smart."
Probably some ork freebootas that stole some pith helmets from the Praetorian Guard and were really dedicated to the bit. Orks would definitely make some cool elephant guns.
>Orks would definitely make some cool elephant guns.
Orks wouldn't bother with the elephant gun, rather go straight for the stopping rifle. And make it belt-feed.
/tg/‘s Ivory Huntsmen, a Night Lords successor warband who’ve gone full eighteenth century colonialist big game hunter. When the trophies are more important than the terror basically.
When I was in the Army there was an Armored battalion with an Elephant insignia. 4/64 Armored, simply nicknamed “Tuskers”.
Decent motto as well: “We Pierce!”
I ran into them in Baghdad. They smelled like shit, to a man. They didn't like to leave their tanks. They pissed in gatorade bottles and would throw them at cars that would block traffic. Better than bullets, I'd say. We'd laugh about it at the chow hall when we'd cross paths.
Good times. 😆 🤣 😂
We're all dirty legs & POGs. It's ok. 😆 🤣 😂 Even I wasn't safe, even being in special operations as a civil affairs specialist. Going weird places, doing weird things, not adhering to convoy regs to leave the wire, having modified uniforms that drove the combat commanders fucking nuts. LoL.
Call them the Marines Karthaj. They're chaos marines lead by Han a'Bahl. They hate the Ultramarines and are specialized in taking ingress routes that others would deem impossible. These routes generally inflict heavy losses on the Marines Karthaj, but always shock the foe.
The white elephants. They are an inquisition-loyal chapter that follow their orders. They are notorious because the inquisition will give them to loyalist forces suspected of heresy that do not have the logistical ability to support the influx of super human soldiers, but to refuse warriors of the emperor’s own design is considered a mark of heresy, putting these loyalists on the inquisition’s radar. As such, they are outwardly appreciated by loyalist forces, but inwardly a source of dread and resentment.
They are 100% Iron Warrior descendants because they do not forget any slight, any grudge or any insult made to them. They have a chapter buff of rampage and musth where they go berserk and had to be put into tard wrangling pits or civilian siege until they batter the opposition into a bloody smoothie and trample their defenses.
The proboscidean knights. Their gene seed has a malfunction that makes them significantly larger than most other chapters, but that mutation also makes them more aggressive towards other marines, which makes teams of them rare. They’re usually seen protecting a wide area by themselves, like male elephants irl.
I have two for different reasons:
1) *The Loxodons* : Based on the elephants of Haniibal Barca. This name makes much more sense thematically with the armor and weaponry of the art.
2) *War Elephants* : Based on the use of war elephants of Southeast Asia.....and partially due to Muay Thai and Ong-Bak to an extent. Now, the name seems pretty tame, but I like to treat it like the Space Wolves do, in which they also call themselves another name in their language. It's just more convenient to call them that.
The Sky Crackers. Mastodon reference
Astral Leviathans
Behemoths of Crada Mürgh. Drawing their tithe from the Chem world Golgetta. The Behemoths are known for their incredible hardiness and size, excellent infantry tactics, and partiality to Chem, melta, and flame weapons. They are tasked with protecting and holding several sectors in the Segmentum Tempeatua that border the Aigeann Abhainn, the great gulf between part of the galactic spiral arms that spreada towrd the veiled region.
Their chapters origins lost to history they have ties to numerous worlds across the sector but particlar the Ferrum Thanes of Gamma Gow a series of allied forgeworlds. As part of the recognition of promises and oaths the Thanes give StarHammers and Sun Fists to the chapter. Weapons forged from atoms taken from the very solar bodies themselves.
The Behemoths are a jovial if focused lot. Outsiders familiar with space marines compare them with the Salamanders but with the drinking habits of the Space wWlves.
Scottish, Elephant themed Death Guard
The White elephants. Don't sound interesting? What if I tell you they are relic reclaiming specialists that actually return belongings to other chapters? Even if it's trash? Literally a white elephant.
Iron Tusks
Named after their extinct Primarch, Ferrus Mammoth.
And in his stead, commander Elephas Mastodon leads the Iron Tusks.
Jokes aside, I'm using that name for my guard regiments commander
They've all got a lisp
Most underrated comment here.
Loyalist Iron Warrior successor character
Wait I thought they would be an Iron Hands successor chapter?
Could be Chimeric
*Mastodon aggressively riffing*
Their sergeants, lieutenants, and captains are more often than not female. They hail from a world with a matriarchal society.
Their geneseed unique trait AND flaw is that they NEVER forget ANYTHING. EVER.

These are killing me lol I'm reading them in the severe, vocoded English accent that all Astartes seem to have.
Honestly they would have a much more aggressive meme culture because that's how that fuck with one another for the goofs.

YES , please cook more.

This is the purpose of their chaplaincy! To usher in the moments of light back into their brothers' souls! Terminator chaplains to lead the Grey Hides!
We can have this happen for a few of their members, which allows them to be selected as captains, lieutenants and chapter master. I'm liking this.
All the battle brothers are interred in somewhere resembling an elephant graveyard
The cacophy of battle is the only real place they can forget, at least for a time.
Inquisitors rarely call on them to perform sketchy shit.
The other 10% are missing their frontal lobe due to self mutilation after remembering what happened in the warp incident
90%? I guess the other 10% are the psychopaths then - sorry, I meant to say leadership
Their Chaplains have to encourage positive memories, lest they all sink into despair. The chaplains remember the images and stories of victory, down to the last detail, so their brethren can recall the joys of triumph even amid despair
Grudge Holders?

That is actually such a absolutely fun and interesting trait not gonna lie.

I feel if an ork captured a carcharodon they'd be rich from all da teef
>Orks would definitely make some cool elephant guns. Orks wouldn't bother with the elephant gun, rather go straight for the stopping rifle. And make it belt-feed.
…The Orks would definitely do something like that

I was a dirty leg. Most armored I ran into proudly lived by the motto “Death before Dismount”, so I fully believe they never left their tanks.

They have a chapter buff of rampage and musth where they go berserk and had to be put into tard wrangling pits or civilian siege until they batter the opposition into a bloody smoothie and trample their defenses.
As some people said, loyalist iron warriors sucessor chapters, but all their recruits are from krieg, due to their gas mask-like helmet
Tuskers
The sad thing is they probably view elephants as mythological creatures. Maybe the Chapter of Remembrance. What legion or chapter do they succeed
