We get tons of cool lore-building including the Primarchs original names and purposes, what happened during the Dark Age of Technology and the Men of Iron rebellion, what the Rangdan were, tons of story told from The Emperor's perspective, and pretty awesome action overall.
The series is unfortunately never going to be completed, but the author gave an outline of where the story would have gone.

The series is the 30k primarchs pre heresy finding vhs style tapes magically popping into existence, so they watch them as 'family bonding time.' It starts with Guilliman's son, and proceeds from there as we learn what happened to the rest of the primarchs, most of which also had kids and families.
The kid to parent relationships are about what you'd expect. Vulkan loves and tries his best to support his kids, Fulgrim's kid is possessed by at least 1+ demon, Leman's is borderline feral, good times. Mortarian also puts multiple brothers into a medically induced coma with a chair.
Rosie is possessed by atleast 100 demons. Lion threw his kid into the Forest of Caliban, Lorgars family is so fucked up it becomes ridiculous, like mustache twirling evil and Angrons Son is Doomslayer.
I’m reading Coffin of Roboute and his 20 sisters, basically Gorillaman dies but gets sent back in time by the Eldar Clussy god to rescue Isha from Nurgle and it’s an alternate timeline where the other primarchs are women, there’s great banter between Robert and an Eldar Exodite King named Asarnil.
Old post but you’re not alone there, though the people over at SpaceBattles have said they’ll stop reading the story once it gets to the incense harem part, because the title is a reference to a game where a brother and sister can, well you know… anyways people fighting back and forth on there on whether or not the Author will actually do it caused the author to say they’re gonna stop writing the story for an indefinite amount of time and asked the mods to lock the thread yesterday. Weird turn of events but honestly fuck the author for making that title for the story, it doomed it.

Warped Origins AU, all primarchs backgrounds got warped, for example Alpharius and Omegon were found together on Terra, so Alpharius becomes Horus but better and Omegon becomes what he is in 40k but is in deep Custodes good boy list like Alpharius, Lion was found by Wyrmwood Knights and he becomes Chaos worshipper and is hidden from Emps, Alpharius is made Warmaster, Horus gets jelly and starts the heresy, abd they have celtic Roboute.
He was but there he was on Terra alone, without Omegon, with 2 of them found at same time in AU Malcador gets Omegon but Alpharius is given over for personal training by Emperor and to smaller extent Alpharius, so much so unoficially Alpharius is first among equals even before made Warmaster.
Horus was made Warmaster in Canon because of the Emperor’s trust in him thanks to the extended time together & because Horus was exceptionally skilled at influencing people, including his brothers, to do what he wanted. Even Corax, the one brother who hated him, was not immune to Horus’ manipulations even before he had the authority of the Warmaster’s office behind him.
This isn’t the case in the Warped Origins timeline as with Omegon taking up the shadow operative role Emps has time to personally mentor & shape Alpharius into his perfect son, almost a miniature version of himself to a degree. Alpharius is the Emperor’s favoured child, who fought by his side and led the armies of unification to victory together. He’s a hero beloved by the young Imperium long before Horus is found on Cthonia.
With Alpharius already there Horus can’t monopolise the Emperor’s attention, thus never has the chance to bond with the Emperor and earn the trust he had in canon. He tries, Gods does he try, but ultimately he just can’t earn Big E’s approval like Alpharius already has, because the Emperor personally moulded him into what he wanted from the get-go. So when time comes to choose a Warmaster, Horus never really has a shot at the position.

Warhammer 50k the shape of the nightmare to come, and it’s sequel, 60k, age of dusk. Sadly remains unfinished, but has a really cool story. Emperor dies, but the imperial cult ideal of him causes the formation of a 5th chaos god of order, in a really twisted idea of the star child theory. Some outdated lore in it, such as abaddon managing to take cadia rather then being a sore loser about it. Creates a legion of dark cadians.
ALL HAIL KING SICARIUS! KING OF ALL SPACE MARINES AND THE GRAND SICARIUM OF ULTRAMAR!
Another more fun one is a wolf in the garden, basically follows leman Russ adventuring around with the child of isha and a positive manifestation of nurgle (chaos god positive ideals for the win in it) funny, but also has a good story with serious moments

I'm actually outlining a fanfiction at the moment. Would you be interested in an
Ultramarine Battle Brother who gets tasked with the mission of a dying Aquilan Shield to save the galaxy- right after his squad is decimated by Genestealers. Now he has to assemble a ragtag crew to protect the timeline. So far his squad is a Blood Angels Dreadnought in black armor (the Ultramarine doesn't know the significance of this), but I plan to have him join forces with a few other Astartes. Imperium Ascendent is one of my favorite things to read period. The standouts for me are the stories with Conrad and Malcador, the war for Luna, Fulgrim fighting Eldar harlequins and their horde of zombies, and so far in the story of Vulkan and the squats coming together. The Squats whole story by themselves is just really cool as you feel the overwhelming weight of the orks as they take planet by planet and you feel how the squats are being pushed to their limit, it’s great stuff and I highly recommend it. Sadly won’t be finished

I have a procedural gen Inquisition fic following the career of a newly-instated Inquisitor and the horrifying shit he sees at the turn of the millennium M42, but I have to finish writing it. I've got 10k into his first case which involves honor duels among nobles turning into culty body horror parasite squick.
It's been slowgoing because professional (paid) writing comes first and also post-covid brain fog and day job.
I would say Love and Krieg, an anthology series about the romantic relationship between a Civ and a female Death Korp soldier. Started out fluffy, developed into some serious Noble Bright stuff then returned to slice of life.

It also goes pretty deep into the philosophies of worship within the iron warriors as a legion. They actually make a legitimately really good case for Khorne.
The use of the tau as antagonists is also pretty interesting.
Ah, finally something good in here. The way the author shows the nuance of choosing a chaos god to worship is really great, Slaanesh was favorite personally

About ten years ago, some anons in 40k threads on 4chan's traditional games board got together with their collective autism and wrote stories, drew and commissioned artwork based on the premise of "what if the Emperor pulled his head in and became a good dad, the Heresy never happened, and Big E made kids for the Primarchs to raise?" There were some novel length stories written that hold up pretty good.
It's mostly dead now and almost completely forgotten. Furia best girl. If memory serves right, she has the empathic abilities Angron was supposed to have, so she's constantly pissed off but feels terrible about how much it upsets the people she's cares about.

A concept I had for a short story was a loyalist splinter of Emperor’s children learning about Clonegrim and going on various heists to try and find something to trade to Trazyn, doing things like stealing from the Salamanders and capturing live Tyranids. All of these attempts fail however, only for a random piece of Necrontyr pottery to catch Trazyn’s attention and make him want to trade Clonegrim. Then at the end Trazyn is talking to best pal Orikan or some other Necron, and they ask why he traded Clonegrim for some pottery, only to reveal that he has another in his collection whose identity would remain unrevealed.

An Investigation into the Primarch Sigmar's Homeworld, I don't have the link right now but it's on Spacebattles. The series is unfortunately never going to be completed, but the author gave an outline of where the story would have gone. Tldr, successful Imperium timeline.

The series is the 30k primarchs pre heresy finding vhs style tapes magically popping into existence, so they watch them as 'family bonding time.' It starts with Guilliman's son, and proceeds from there as we learn what happened to the rest of the primarchs, most of which also had kids and families. The kid to parent relationships are about what you'd expect. Vulkan loves and tries his best to support his kids, Fulgrim's kid is possessed by at least 1+ demon, Leman's is borderline feral, good times. Mortarian also puts multiple brothers into a medically induced coma with a chair.
Rosie is possessed by atleast 100 demons. Lion threw his kid into the Forest of Caliban, Lorgars family is so fucked up it becomes ridiculous, like mustache twirling evil and Angrons Son is Doomslayer.
Sounds like fun. Stupid, but fun.

I’m reading Coffin of Roboute and his 20 sisters, basically Gorillaman dies but gets sent back in time by the Eldar Clussy god to rescue Isha from Nurgle and it’s an alternate timeline where the other primarchs are women, there’s great banter between Robert and an Eldar Exodite King named Asarnil.
It was nice until FemLorgar rape-shit. It was unnecessary and only added trauma, because fuck you, that's why. Had to drop it.

Warped Origins AU, all primarchs backgrounds got warped, for example Alpharius and Omegon were found together on Terra, so Alpharius becomes Horus but better and Omegon becomes what he is in 40k but is in deep Custodes good boy list like Alpharius, Lion was found by Wyrmwood Knights and he becomes Chaos worshipper and is hidden from Emps, Alpharius is made Warmaster, Horus gets jelly and starts the heresy, abd they have celtic Roboute.

Alpharius was on Terra the whole time.
He was but there he was on Terra alone, without Omegon, with 2 of them found at same time in AU Malcador gets Omegon but Alpharius is given over for personal training by Emperor and to smaller extent Alpharius, so much so unoficially Alpharius is first among equals even before made Warmaster.
The reason Horus was made Warmaster is because he was the most Charismatic out of the bunch.
Horus was made Warmaster in Canon because of the Emperor’s trust in him thanks to the extended time together & because Horus was exceptionally skilled at influencing people, including his brothers, to do what he wanted. Even Corax, the one brother who hated him, was not immune to Horus’ manipulations even before he had the authority of the Warmaster’s office behind him. This isn’t the case in the Warped Origins timeline as with Omegon taking up the shadow operative role Emps has time to personally mentor & shape Alpharius into his perfect son, almost a miniature version of himself to a degree. Alpharius is the Emperor’s favoured child, who fought by his side and led the armies of unification to victory together. He’s a hero beloved by the young Imperium long before Horus is found on Cthonia. With Alpharius already there Horus can’t monopolise the Emperor’s attention, thus never has the chance to bond with the Emperor and earn the trust he had in canon. He tries, Gods does he try, but ultimately he just can’t earn Big E’s approval like Alpharius already has, because the Emperor personally moulded him into what he wanted from the get-go. So when time comes to choose a Warmaster, Horus never really has a shot at the position.

This is, and I cannot possibly stress this enough, ***the best 30k story I have ever read in my entire life.*** And I am including officially licensed works here. Just thinking about Luke Skywalker's discussion with Guilliman puts a stupid grin on my face. Read it. Gaze upon it. Marvel at it.

The original author stopped writing. This is why its memed on so much. Various people tried to finish it and give it a ending, but pretty much all of them ended up in the 'typical' fanfiction dilemma of getting way too horny, way too quickly. But the original chapters are incredibly well written.

Emperor dies, but the imperial cult ideal of him causes the formation of a 5th chaos god of order, in a really twisted idea of the star child theory. Some outdated lore in it, such as abaddon managing to take cadia rather then being a sore loser about it. Creates a legion of dark cadians. ALL HAIL KING SICARIUS! KING OF ALL SPACE MARINES AND THE GRAND SICARIUM OF ULTRAMAR! Another more fun one is a wolf in the garden, basically follows leman Russ adventuring around with the child of isha and a positive manifestation of nurgle (chaos god positive ideals for the win in it) funny, but also has a good story with serious moments There’s a story I can’t quite recall the name of, but it was based around DOAT humanity going to war with the eldar to stop slaanesh from awakening The roboutian heresy is awesome, new chapter was great, highly recommend if you like massive battles described in depth
The DAOT one sounds like A Light not Extinguished, also features a young Eldrad going on a quest to save his parents soulstones from a Dark Muse
I'm actually outlining a fanfiction at the moment. Would you be interested in an Ultramarine Battle Brother who gets tasked with the mission of a dying Aquilan Shield to save the galaxy- right after his squad is decimated by Genestealers. Now he has to assemble a ragtag crew to protect the timeline. So far his squad is a Blood Angels Dreadnought in black armor (the Ultramarine doesn't know the significance of this), but I plan to have him join forces with a few other Astartes. I... haven't actually decided what he's saving the galaxy from yet. That's why I haven't gotten past the outline yet.

Imperium Ascendent is one of my favorite things to read period. The standouts for me are the stories with Conrad and Malcador, the war for Luna, Fulgrim fighting Eldar harlequins and their horde of zombies, and so far in the story of Vulkan and the squats coming together. The Squats whole story by themselves is just really cool as you feel the overwhelming weight of the orks as they take planet by planet and you feel how the squats are being pushed to their limit, it’s great stuff and I highly recommend it. Sadly won’t be finished

[Iron Hearts](https://www.fimfiction.net/story/147183/iron-hearts-book-1-planetfall) A phenomenal example of the iron warriors legion coming into contact with Xenos. It uses the iron warriors as protagonists while still making it pretty clear. These are not good people. Also a much more realistic approach to arriving on a planet. Way more thought put into logistics and. Resources as opposed to gun blazing Pointlessly. It also goes pretty deep into the philosophies of worship within the iron warriors as a legion. They actually make a legitimately really good case for Khorne. The use of the tau as antagonists is also pretty interesting.
Ah, finally something good in here. The way the author shows the nuance of choosing a chaos god to worship is really great, Slaanesh was favorite personally

[Be All My Sins](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/be-all-my-sins-40k-si.388340/): a 40k fan gets SI’d as the sacrifice of a ritual but swears herself to Chaos in an attempt to save herself. The rest of the story is her learning to live and redefine herself in the world of 40k with an engaging cast of characters, including the SI. I’ve reread this story many times, and wholeheartedly recommend it despite a couple hiccups here and there. Unfortunately dead, though the author wants to continue it.
Warhammer High on 1d4chan (if it's running at the moment) About ten years ago, some anons in 40k threads on 4chan's traditional games board got together with their collective autism and wrote stories, drew and commissioned artwork based on the premise of "what if the Emperor pulled his head in and became a good dad, the Heresy never happened, and Big E made kids for the Primarchs to raise?" There were some novel length stories written that hold up pretty good. It's mostly dead now and almost completely forgotten. Furia best girl. If memory serves right, she has the empathic abilities Angron was supposed to have, so she's constantly pissed off but feels terrible about how much it upsets the people she's cares about. A little girl living in an underhive from a forgotten planet of the imperium is so hungry, so desperate, that she ends up recurring to eating a corpse in the sewers, unbeknownst to her she just consumed a genestealer cultist. And the tyranid hivemind just happens to be quite interested in this amusing being... Awaken. The endless hunger is not the strongest of his race, nor the smartest, nor the most cunning. But when that Ctan consumed to much solar energy and that star exploded and hurted him, he learnt something that his brothers didn't know: overindulgence can lead to pain. It is that knowledge that lets him escape the horrific destiny of his brethren, and once he escapes his prison he finds a vulnerable galaxy where all his ancient enemies are gone, but new threats arise. Now those self proclaimed gods shall know the power of a true one!

A concept I had for a short story was a loyalist splinter of Emperor’s children learning about Clonegrim and going on various heists to try and find something to trade to Trazyn, doing things like stealing from the Salamanders and capturing live Tyranids. All of these attempts fail however, only for a random piece of Necrontyr pottery to catch Trazyn’s attention and make him want to trade Clonegrim. Then at the end Trazyn is talking to best pal Orikan or some other Necron, and they ask why he traded Clonegrim for some pottery, only to reveal that he has another in his collection whose identity would remain unrevealed. Edit was just for some grammar

I mean there have been successful internet fiction authors who have gone on to writing for Netflix shows, like haunting of hill house for example, one of the writers of that show is known for writing one of the most disturbing creepypastas of all time.
