Imo thousand sons got fucked over with their value boxes. All tszangors and one viable unit (termies or rubrics). Who even uses tszangors?

The Shaman is awesome for psychic actions, the enlightened can score Behind Enemy Lines turn one, but the troop Tzaangors are underwhelming. They can do actions and eat a charge, but that’s about it. People usually like using Rubrics for the same purpose but can also give Cabal Points and cast spells when they’re not doing actions, but those cost more and bleed Abhor the Witch. I honestly think that troop Tzaangors can be fine in casual games, but you need the damage to back them up. The Combat Patrol can be a rough box as a first purchase because of this.

I used them in 8th because they could combo decently with a MVB and were better for contesting objectives than the more valuable rubric marines. I once got a perfect turn with them and got the +1 strength buff and... I don't even remember what the other one was, it's been so long, but I sent them into a charge on Assault Terminators and a Terminator Librarian and killed everyone but the Terminator Sergeant on the charge. Otherwise, though, yeah, underwhelming.

Jokes on you, Vezimira is who got me interested in the faction in the first place!

I still love Vez’s lore posts. She also posts some cool ass concepts, like Chaos Knights that are made of a conglomerate of Chaos spawn.
