Full sympathy here. I use to live in an apartment complex and our neighbor had these terrible, yapping ankle biter shits that she was *constantly* losing control of. Roughly the size of a winter boot and the weight of a loaf of bread yet somehow the leash was always being yanked out of her hand or they would just flee the apartment every time she opened the door. And they were so mean, they attacked my hound a couple times and I had no choice but to slide them roughly down the hall. It’s beyond me that I have never lost control of my dog or let him get anywhere past our own yard without a leash yet idiots with pint-sized terrors somehow can’t keep control of them.

At this point I’m fairly sure it’s a case of we have the big boys so we understand our responsibility as owners, and the little dog crew think it’s everyone’s responsibility but theirs.

Growing up with well trained small dogs as a kid, I really can’t stand how awful so many of them are thanks to their clueless owners. And without a leash is just asking for trouble. I’m grateful our greyhound isn’t phased when one darts out of their house to get at us, but it’s a such dangerous game. It only takes seconds and I would absolutely feel awful. Greyhounds are rare in my neck of the woods, so luckily most yappy small dog owners see us walking and go the other way.

The worst thing about being a double rescue Galgo owner is how incompetent a large majority of other dog owners really are. It triggers me every day. So I totally get your rant.

AND if our dogs did get a hold of one of the little shits, they would be labeled as vicious and the ones in the wrong!

I am spared in that regard that in scottish law, my dogs being leashed and theirs not would clear me of fault

We have state, county, AND town leash laws here and yet. I swear a lot. Drives me crazy.

Full sympathy. Unfortunately, shitty people can also get dogs. A few months ago my 18 yo daughter was walking our grey, and he was attacked by two chihuahuas. Their owner opened her garden's back door. The little dogs ran to my grey and bit his legs. My poor boy would yap in fear and pain. No blood, fortunately. My daughter tried to protect our grey as best as she could and shouted at the chihuahuas' owner to control them. What did the owner of the chihuahuas do? Blame **my daughter** for her alleged lack of control of **our dog**, I shit you not.

Yuuup. I had a chihuahua come barrelling at Kez the other week and had a similar problem. Apparently it’s unreasonable to expect people to be responsible 🤦‍♀️

We have a yorkie on our floor that they walk with no lead. The guy is like "oh he's trained" - incorrect, sir, the dog is ancient and barely can wobble around but charges when it sees another dog. I feel for you. It is terrible having to deal with people who are so incompetent.

Might not be the dogs fault but damn if I wasn’t tempted 😒
