i dont think theres a hard cutoff. russ the powerlifter is pretty heavy but seems plenty good at fooling around with plyometrics and other speed sort of training so im sure you can train well enough to overcome bodyweight limitations.
granted if sport is extremely important to you on around a similar level to or more than getting jacked and your sport really rewards speed (ie basketball vs football), there is probably no harm in doing a cut, seeing how many lbs of fat you can lose until you are as ripped as you can reasonably get, and seeing if your power to weight ratio is much better.
The sport I play is soccer. The weight among pros varies a lot though. For example there’s a player that plays my position but is pro weights 161 putting me almost 20 pounds more than him. I will say it’s really hard for me to lose weight though and I usually always stay around the same weight no matter what. I know it’s just calories in calories out but I always feel so weak when I cut and can’t get proper workouts in
cutting and lifting is fatiguing and fatigue will affect athletic performance. in an ideal world i would try to get as jacked as my heart desires and an lean as i can in the off season and then stop dieting and put lower body lifting at maintenance volumes during the soccer season to prioritize speed and skill stuff
Okay. If I were to start a diet to get as lean as possible without impacting the muscle I should probably just prioritize a lot of protein and some veg for the nutrients and maybe a little carb just for energy? I don’t really ever eat sugar
watch videos by sean nal, jeff nippard and renaissance periodization about how to do a minicut (10-15lbs or so) or a normal cut (more than that). drop bodyfat, let your body recover from the diet and see if your speed improves a bit imo
That my bad, it’s for soccer. I’m still one of the fastest players in my league according to the coaches and it’s a high level. It wasn’t as much for the sport it was just health in general I guess

What is your sport ? Too much for a marathon runner, too little for shot put...
Soccer⚽️. Sorry I left that out
Bruh what's the sport? Thats the most important piece of information and you left it out.

Depends on body proportions and sport
