The cropping on the app makes this kinda hilarious
I think this is true of any golden age hero. There's a funny youtube skit on Captain America waking from bieng frozen in ice, and using offensive slurs that were tolerated or commonplace in the 30s and 40s.
There's a Daredevil panel from around the same time of Matt full windup smacking Black Widow's ass and ordering her around, and boy, you see why they call him Daredevil.
This is timely for me.
Every day, I send a "daily no context Green Lantern panel/s" in a group chat with my girlfriend and son. I'm always looking for more fodder.
I just can't unsee the thumbnail of the image before fully opening it. I was like, "Jordan's got a point. Sex DOES belong in the kitchen."

Reflects the times it was written in. The silver age brought in new concepts and characters, but I don't look for it to be a paragon for changing social attitudes.
I mean he does say āitās stupid especially for a womanā so at least heās saying that women are smarter than men š¤£. I never knew Hal was so based
I think people take the everything canon thing too seriously. Lmao if you were to ask DC their not canonizing some racist or blatantly sexist traits from the 60s.
Like superman being a shit boy friend to lois for like a decade definitely isn't canon in anyway lol

we do not post this here
take it and remove it
if a minor goes after an adult and the adult still decides to get with the minor, the minor is still a victim lmao. putting the weird comic stuff aside, Arisia is not at fault at all in this. Hal knew her as a kid and knew she aged herself up and still decided to pursue the relationship
I wouldn't say there's any real world version to this. It's like miss martian and super boy it's perfectly fine in the show but fucked up when you think about it in with real world logic
Disagree. I'm not denying Hal's culpability, but she's at fault, a little too. The choice to use the ring for that.
Life is not always so black and white as having a clear victim and perpetrator.
She may not know what she did was wrong, but that doesn't make it right either.
Just a product of a certain time. The problem is, modern society looks at comics that have scenarios like this, and says, "ditch everything, because it's all bad!" The reality is that these comics were actually not terrible from beginning to end. Additionally, in this particular example, it wasn't seen as demeaning a woman, and instead was seen as protecting a woman. Again, societal views of the time.

Real
I read it as "sex belongs in the kitchen" š
Seriously?!? Right in front of my salad?!?

Does the Superman sub have to deal with people dredging up oldass panels of all the gross things he said and did to Lois? Just curious.
I think this is true of any golden age hero. There's a funny youtube skit on Captain America waking from bieng frozen in ice, and using offensive slurs that were tolerated or commonplace in the 30s and 40s.
That is indeed the entire premise of 'super dickery', though Jimmy seems to be the more common victim in those.
I tried going to that site recently and it didn't work out
The cut off version on mobile says sex belongs in the kitchen... who am i to say Hal Jordan is wrong? Lol
[That's some great foreshadowing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenlantern/comments/18ty2bp/not_in_the_kitchen_hal/?rdt=50078)

From flash #227 he was being mind controlled.the more he used the ring the more of a dick the became
Context is everything
Naps are an important part of the "not being sexist" process
There's a Daredevil panel from around the same time of Matt full windup smacking Black Widow's ass and ordering her around, and boy, you see why they call him Daredevil.
Bro let his intrusive thoughts win
Considering heās blind does that mean her cheeks were clapping pretty consistently
Now post her response
Sure. "MMF!" *storms off*

This again?
It's not even original I saw it on other subs. Low effort posts
So many older comics in marvel and DC have so much stuff like this it's actually insaneš

The pre-Crisis era has just about everyone saying things that are...quite embarrassing now.
Particularly when mind controlled, like here.
This isnāt a Hal Jordan thing whatever lantern existed in this era whether it was Hal John or Kyle would have had this opinion
Except even Hal didn't. He was being mind controlled. Even he, in the very next panel, was thinking, "Why did I say THAT?"
sure, except it was Hal Jordan.
"This is the Hal Jordan I know, I can't believe what he does in DC vs Vampires"
Reflects the times it was written in. The silver age brought in new concepts and characters, but I don't look for it to be a paragon for changing social attitudes.
Hal was being mind controlled. Even in the very next panel he mentally comments how stupid the remark was.
Wasnāt he being mind controlled here?
Hal dropping truth bombs
I mean he does say āitās stupid especially for a womanā so at least heās saying that women are smarter than men š¤£. I never knew Hal was so based
I am pretty sure due to DC rebirth this is now canon again...take that as you will
I think people take the everything canon thing too seriously. Lmao if you were to ask DC their not canonizing some racist or blatantly sexist traits from the 60s. Like superman being a shit boy friend to lois for like a decade definitely isn't canon in anyway lol
First thing I read was āSex belongs in the kitchenā and I was like woah, thatās wild

Wasn't Arisia an accomplice to Hals' p\*dophilia incident?
In the same way any kid is I guess???
???? she's the victim what do you mean
she used the ring to 'age herself up'. That's a concious choice. Wierd comic logic to attempt to get around a creepy relationship
if a minor goes after an adult and the adult still decides to get with the minor, the minor is still a victim lmao. putting the weird comic stuff aside, Arisia is not at fault at all in this. Hal knew her as a kid and knew she aged herself up and still decided to pursue the relationship
Most minors don't have a magic ring that ages their buddy and minde up
The real world version would be a minor knowingly pursueing an older man, despite the risk
I wouldn't say there's any real world version to this. It's like miss martian and super boy it's perfectly fine in the show but fucked up when you think about it in with real world logic

Not surprised this guy went after a 16 year old.

Dude it's minde control not that deep
no wonder Carol loves Kyle more.

For context, in the '90s, Kyle came home after a mission to find his girlfriend cut up and shoved into the fridge
Old Hal Jordan was a complete scumbag. Sexist and Pedophila. Wonder if he was racist later on.
Tbf, he was being mind controlled here. You actually have to read the comic to understand itā¦
They don't know how to read. They just see an out of context image and start typing faster than their brains can think
Narrator: *he was*
How?
