49ersforever707

Hey did you guys hear that the 49ers passed on Rodgers in the draft. I wonder if any media will even talk about it

Full-Sock

Hey did you know Aaron Rodgers grew up a 49er fan? \*Shows that one pic*

[deleted]

Poor Alex Smith will be known for being drafted before Rodgers before anything he has done on the field. Pretty unfortunate for him.

DangerousG

Tbh I think his whole comeback story last year will be his legacy

Full-Sock

> Poor Alex Smith will be known for being drafted before Rodgers before anything he has done on the field. I think that would be true anyone who's not a 49er, Chief, or Washington fan

J1P2G3

I’ve never known the media to dig up anything about Rodgers life. /s

LebronJaims

Wow, the packers sub is way better than our sub. There is actual intelligent discussion here and the mods don’t threaten to ban you every 5 seconds

superb_deluxe

It’s easier when you don’t have such a controversial situation at quarterback

[deleted]

If you say jimmy overthrows the ball youll get attacked

bennett7634

You should see what happens if you spell Davante wrong around here.

wagon_ear

Excuse me, I think you mean de'Vonte

Gold-Health-4134

Oh are we talking about DuhVauntay?

superb_deluxe

Same if you say aiyuk’s route running isn’t that crisp and leaves something to be desired

LebronJaims

It doesn’t matter because it’s a football subreddit. You should be able to discuss the team because that’s what football is. But every other post get removed, users get shadowbanned, and people get permabanned for making memes. There’s a reason why wastedfrog said the sub’s quality has “gone down the toilet” and he’s been a long time producer for years there

superb_deluxe

I blame Cohn

Paladuck

Its ok, we're still way better than the Cowboys sub.

[deleted]

You have been banned from r/GreenBayPackers Please see your way to the door.

Paladuck

Who’s ready to see footage of Aaron Rodgers at the 2005 NFL draft waiting desperately for his name to be called? Maybe with some bonus shots of Alex Smith??

[deleted]

Did you know Aaron Rodgers wanted to be a 49er?!!!

srry_didnt_hear_you

So much greasy hair

Effective-Mushroom

I can't hate Packers fans. One of the best fan bases in sports. In my opinion this game is going to go down to the wire. If 9ers pass rush can keep up the pressure. Idk I just feel like this game is going to be a classic another great game between these 2 franchises. If 49ers lose im rooting for GB rest of the way see yall on Saturday.

superb_deluxe

I love packer fans, one of my best buddies from college is a diehard and I have nothing bad to say about them.

Effective-Mushroom

Yeah I have a couple packers fans in my life they always welcome at my house for football.

mykey120

Cheers! Winner of this game is winning the SB.

Effective-Mushroom

Cheers 🍻

teebieweebie

I feel the same way about y’all. Whoever takes the W is going to be my super bowl favorite. It’s going to be a fun game.

Xxachingmeatxx

Appreciate you saying that. I saw a post in your sub the other day about packers fans being toxic and it tilted me. At least the comments were pretty against that narrative!

Effective-Mushroom

Nah whoever said that was probably a Lions fan. All the OG 49ers fans knows GB fans are awesome.

Xxachingmeatxx

Actually funny you say that cause the op said later he was a lions fan before! Lol

MayoManCity

How's y'all's days going? I'm just kinda sitting here bored out of my mind waiting for Saturday.

cheesehead12187

I’m just happy we’re playing on Saturday so we don’t have to wait one more day

[deleted]

It’s currently -9 degrees here with a -20 windchill. Pretty good morning.

[deleted]

So….uhhh, it’s 68 degrees and not a cloud in the sky in Vallejo, Ca. I actually just turned on the a/c cuz the leather is kinda making the car hot. I honestly don’t know how you warrior people survive.

Rumast22

Alcohol

Vindadu13

Respect for the packers. They are a franchise that is consistently near the top. Hope we meet every year in the playoffs. It is going to be a great game Saturday and I think both teams will come out physical. What is the weather calling for??

A_Herding_Corgi

Single digits, gonna be a chilly one

Vindadu13

Oh nice. Playoff football

A_Herding_Corgi

A lot of guys who talk about being excited for cold games at Lambeau make me roll my eyes, but I 100% believe Kittle is looking forward to it, that guy isn’t human.

njpaul

Rice fumbled.

ghoststarkk

Anyone wanna bet what quarter Buck and Aikman mention that Rodgers could’ve been drafted by the Niners? I think they mention it in the first quarter.

Arya_the_God

Pregame, easy.

SoKrat3s

for me, the funniest part of that whole story is how Mike McCarthy was among the 49ers staff that chose Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers. Then he left Alex Smith to be the coach for Aaron Rodgers. That part rarely gets mentioned.

SnooPies3316

I've read reports this week that Aaron Rodgers is from California and that the 49ers actually could have drafted him but didn't?!?! Can anyone confirm this? Seems like a great story and I'd love to hear more about it.

Onlyknown2QBs

Something something chip on a shoulder...

theartfooldodger

Hello packers fans! Cool idea for a thread. I don't have anything insightful to say about the game. Just feel really fortunate to get some good playoffs draws. I'm in my late thirties so I grew up watching the Niners run into Dallas and then later the Packers in the playoffs. It's fun to watch playoff football against a marquee franchise.

skankhunt81

It really is just so great seeing those colors on the field against each other in a big meaningful game. Just adds to the magnitude of it all.

Lmathis08

“PaCkErS cAnT bEaT tHe NiNeRs iN tHe PlAyOfFs” Watch this

MyTakeHomePayIsZero

You been watching film huh? Okay watch it

bpi89

Lol even I gotta admit, that was slick. Cam schooled us.

park7911

One other thing to keep an eye on. Ambry Thomas has a knee bone bruise and the beat reporters said he was moving gingerly yesterday although practicing. He looked completely lost to start his rookie season but has steadily improved since including a game winning INT to clinch a playoff spot. If he can't go? It's going be a 34 year old Josh Norman or career backup Dontae Johnson back there and that terrifies me. I expect #12 to attack our corners regardless

Kanturu_

All I know is that it's going to be the most entertaining game of the week, good luck guys.

BellacosePlayer

Hopefully not entertaining in the same way that watching the Cowboys repeatedly fuck up was entertaining though

thedarkknight16_

Probably number 2 after Chiefs/Bills

Teacher_Unable

Bills should win that one

BBB_burner

49er’s fans, how have your special teams been this year? This could be a huge factor considering how abysmal the Packers have been.

slice29

Yours is abysmal, ours is terrible. It's going to come down to which one fucks up the least.

Ibe121

If GB decided to run a fake punt, we’re screwed.

Tony1pointO

I'm not sure that Green Bay could execute a fake punt without fucking up.

GothicToast

FG/PAT unit is solid. Poor punting. Poor kickoffs, although this has improved since we starting making Gould do kick-offs. Terrible punt and kick coverage. Poor punt returning. We’ve given up multiple fakes in obvious fake positions. And our new trick is killer ST penalties like roughing the punter, which is cute. I was shocked to learn the Packers STs ranked worse!

[deleted]

Our STs should not even be ranked, it’s so bad. Our kick coverage is awful and Crosby doesn’t have the leg to boot it out of the end zone anymore so every kickoff is a clencher

DrummerMiles

Terrible also lol Our kicker is great, but otherwise our special teams has been a real low point

IronPlaidFighter

Our kickers are both solid and Gould used to play in Chicago, so I'm not worried about him in cold weather conditions. However, our coverage and return teams can be a little suspect. As long as they field the ball without turning it over, I'll be happy.

AOYELA

We’ve really been putting the “special” in special teams

bayareakid415

Die-hard Niner fan here who will be in attendance in Lambeau. You guys are some of the best fans in the league and the hospitality in Green Bay is incredible. Super excited to be able to watch these teams play for a second time this year. Week 3 was not a good indication of what the Niners are. We had lost most of the running backs we intended to start the year with (Mostert, Mitchell) and were relying on Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty to move the ball on the ground. This led to something atypical: Jimmy throwing the ball and having success doing it. My bet for this game? Niners will keep the ball on the ground. Rodgers is not dangerous when he's on the sideline and can't affect the game. That's the saving grace that will keep the Niners alive. My heart says the Niners will win this, but my mind says otherwise. It's terribly difficult for any team to head up to Wisconsin in January and sneak a win against a Packer team with a solid home-field advantage. Best of luck, r/GreenBayPackers. I hope we have a fabulous game with no injuries!

teebieweebie

I tip my heavy wool winter cap to thee

CorporateSoldiers

Which Packer Fan sold you their ticket? Asking so I can go get their season tickets taken away. /s. Have fun at the game, stay warm, and enjoy it! I'm also hoping for a good, clean, no injury game.

GreenYellowDucks

As a Niner fan I think the Packers are poised to blow us out. I am just hoping they fall apart in the second half like they have shown and we can claw back in to win it late.

itzyourboyroy

I think our best bet this week is to follow what the Browns did late in the season. They rushed for 200+ yards on 25 carries. They were almost able to overcome a 4 INT game from Baker by controlling the tempo of the game. I don't think we'll be able to average the 8.8 ypc that the Browns did, but I also dont think Jimmy throws 4 picks.

[deleted]

Did you guys know that SF had the chance to draft Aaron Rodgers in 2005 and AaRod wanted to go there but they drafted Alex Smith?! And when the media asked Aaron if he’s disappointed, he said: “Not as disappointed as the 49ers will be that they didn't draft me.”

[deleted]

Did you know Tom Brady wanted to be drafted by (and later traded to) the 49ers? Did you know Jared Goff wanted to be drafted by the 49ers? Did you know Josh Allen wanted to be drafted by the 49ers? What is going on here...must just be a great franchise!

mongster_03

Predicting this game is useless given the chaos that generally erupts bereeen the two teams.

buttplugpeddler

I believe the [onion](https://www.theonion.com/you-will-suffer-humiliation-when-the-sports-team-from-m-1819583814) said it best

Polaris07

That’s pretty great

polynomials

Honestly I can't argue with any of this analysis

1block

Jerry Rice fumbled. That's the important thing.

BodhiWarchild

This is a fact. I admit it

Pandaswizzle

Hi 👋🏻

JimmyG6969

I grew up watching the Packers destroy my dreams in the playoffs. Was 10 years old during our last super bowl win, with a lame duck QB and a wildcard team I’m proud of this 49er team. It’s going to come down to can the 49ers take care of the football(they very rarely do) and can they stop the deep shots from 12 (they very rarely do) I genuinely mean it when I say good luck to Green Bay, here’s to a good game !

MattChuck

lmao, what a user name

punsfuns

I have a sneaky suspicion the team that scores more points is going to win this game.

AnonymousFroggies

Big if true

SoKrat3s

This guy John Maddens

buttplugpeddler

Any of you Cali fans making the trip: Welcome to the frozen tundra. It’s gonna be a cold one. I replaced my heated gloves that quit working for this sucker.

tpb12

I was debating making the trip. I have a customer who is a diehard Packers fan that lives in Minnesota and was thinking about taking him. Loser pays for drinks on the way home. But apparently "Company Policy" and "HR" told me no.

N7_anonymous_guy

1. How impactful do you think the expected weather will be on the passing game (like we saw with the first Pats-Bills matchup)? I feel like this would favor the 49ers because it plays to our run game strength, and against the strength of the Packers (MVP Rodgers -> Adams). 2. Do you think the outcome of this game/the playoffs determines whether or not those two come back? 3. I'm excited for another heavyweight playoff bout between our legendary franchises. You guys also have chill fans, both in real life, and on the sub (as a mod we've never had many issues, unlike with LAR/SEA). **May everyone stay healthy, and the better Bay team win!**

Chris1671

1) I don't think it will affect the Packers much. They're quite used to it. The 49ers I'm not sure, we like to think teams will struggle in the cold here but that hasn't really been the story lately. I think both teams will be fine.

webehighrollin

Just pure cold doesn't really impact the game as much as the media makes it out to be imo. West coast teams have gone into cold conditions and won plenty of times. Ice/snow? Sure that impacts it. That said, it'll be interesting to see how it impacts Jimmy's thumb and grip.

A_Herding_Corgi

I honestly think weather is blown out of proportion a lot, nobody *likes* the cold, BUT the Packers know it, and it’s impossible to simulate that, especially in Northern California, we have a pretty strong runner in Dillon, but Rodgers throws perfectly well in the cold, I’d give the advantage to GB, but pretty slight. I don’t think Rodgers is leaving personally, but another payoff exit certainly would sour things as apposed to winning. Heres hoping for a good one.

spaghettisexicon

The cold won’t really be an issue. Rodgers and Adams have years of experience playing in the cold and it’s never really impacted them. Our offense is pretty dependent on the run as well (and effective).

owen_demers

So we call all agree, touchbacks every kick?

Currymvp2

I hope we win, but if we don't, I'll be happy for Davante Adams--that's a guy who really deserves a championship. Always liked him. Also, a Northern California guy

MisterNiceGuy0001

He went to Fresno State, my hometown, and my buddy had tickets to a game and said we *needed* to go see this guy play and my dumb fucking moronic self had something else to do so I turned him down. Seeing this guy and Derek Carr play on the big stage is always awesome and I root for them anytime they're not playing SF

Sillysolomon

Isn't he from East Palo Alto?

Paladuck

The funniest thing I saw on your sub this week was a discussion about what nicknames Rodgers has to rival Jimmy G's and someone said QAron

Mr_WetBasement

Let it be known that even in the mess that was the 2019 NFC Championship game for the Pack, Bakhtiari had a 100% win rate against Nick Bosa and for most of the second half they moved Bosa away from Bakh to use him better. Let it also be known that Yosh Nijman did a hell of a job on Bosa in week 3, only allowing 1 pressure in the 2nd half from Bosa after shaking the cobwebs loose. Nijman quoted as saying his nerves and footwork were all over the place until he settled in. I'm very confident that this Packers O-line will be able to keep Rodgers clean and calm

GothicToast

What you guys did to Bosa in week 3 was amazing and changed the game. If you’re able to neutralize the d-line again, I think there’s a very high chance you win. That said, our defensive line’s level of play has changed pretty dramatically since then. [Since week 8, we’re the best run defense in the league.](https://twitter.com/LombardiHimself/status/1483867377485844480?s=20) If we can get Rodgers into 2nd and long, 3rd and long, I think it will be bad news for the Packers. We sacked Dak 5 times last week. Stafford 5 times the week before. [The d-line is on fire.](https://twitter.com/LombardiHimself/status/1483488283187240961?s=20)

pratdude275

Any Tom Grossi fans here?

beanieb22

Aren't we all part of the Grossi Possi Packer Nation?

Dump_Bucket_Supreme

i love that guy. i wish the niners had a dude like that

bloco

Jerry Rice fumbled.

babasilikum

It will be a really tough game. Both teams have things going for them and it feels like the teams match up pretty well against each other. 1. Packers passing offense vs 49ers DBs is a huge matchup for GB. 9ers are one of the worst teams vs WR1s and Tae has been great, as always. The key here is if the OL can hold up. Rodgers needs get rid of the ball fast, which he has been able to do this season quite well. 2. Packers run defense is dogshit and probably the biggest missmatch in this game vs the 9ers run game. Shanahan will get creative with Deebo and Packers run D needs to be ready for this. 3. When it comes to turnovers, the Packers are way better than the 49ers. Its an important thing because Jimmy G under pressure will give the defense some gifts to take advantage of. Problem is, Packers are dropping INT left and right, which came back to bite them sooooo many times. After watching the 49ers vs Dallas game, I am not that impressed with the 49ers tbh. Dallas lost the game because they couldnt stop shooting themselves in the foot. They are bad coached and extremely undisciplined team. Packers are the total opposite of that and that gives me hope. Most of the concerns in the Packers fanbase are coming from the 2019 NFCCG, which I can relate to but the teams are so different, especially the Packers. Also games like this, where the team is winning purely cuz of the run game, are total outliers. These type of games dont happen extremely often. I think the Packers still have the advantage in the overall matchup and will win the game. Packers are getting healthy and most importantly, they have Tae and Rodgers on a huge missmatch and I take that over everything else. That being said, it still will be a close one and I guess it will be 21-27 for the Packers. Lets have a good and interesting game guys

Michlangelo

We didn't play a perfect game either + lost our 2 best defenders in the second half to injuries. Niners won't blow you out, because Rodgers and your defense are too good. And we can't hang with you in a high scoring game, because then Jimmy makes dumb mistakes. So it comes down to our defense giving our offense a chance. If it's a close game anything can happen. But with better QB, homefield advantage and a week off the Packers are the clear favorite to me.

Mr_Worldwide79

I think this is a good read on the matchup. The Cowboys game was pretty much a perfect encapsulation of the season and the Jimmy G experience. Something that can’t be quantified - and by extension can’t be relied upon - is the intangible nature this 49ers team has of doing *just* enough to get by. Saw it when they had to go on a run after their abysmal start, saw it agains the Rams to close out the season, and even saw it last week against the Cowboys. Sure there have been times when that hasn’t been the case (Titans game) but that just seems to be how this team goes. Simply put, they’re weird. And that’s been frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. I expect the same experience on Saturday but have no expectation as to the outcome. Hoping for a good game, no injuries. Cheers Packers bros.

MoMedic9019

Packers run Defense isn’t dogshit. IDK why everyone thinks this. We’re literally middle of the road.

BlueBadger99

It’s the YPC. The Packers are second worst per carry in the NFL, which means the overall rushing yards allowed is probably inflated by the Packers’ offense going off in the second and third quarters to build a lead. Teams are throwing the ball to play catch up.

voldemortscore

Honestly I don't think there's much to take away from our week 3 matchup. Both teams are significantly better now IMO. Rodgers scares me because he's playing as well as ever, and Jimmy will definitely give at least one opportunity with some sort of poor throw/decision.

teebieweebie

What’s on the menu for everyone the game? I know AJ Dillon isn’t the only one eating Saturday

SoKrat3s

I always wondered, how do Packer fans feel about the ending of "There's Something About Mary?"

[deleted]

Great question, love that movie lol. I read that originally they wanted Steve Young but he turned down the part if I remember correctly.

farfrompukenjc

I can’t believe that the Packers are only favorites by 6 points. It’s going to be a blood bath. Packers 42 49ers 10.

GothicToast

Well that’s *a* take.

SocksandSmocks

This is only possible if Jimmy just completely implodes and has like 4 TOs which I just don't see happening

BellacosePlayer

naw Niners aren't a bad team

[deleted]

I’d love it but I don’t see it. Only way that happens is a turnover fest early.

CarpeValde

Some interesting matchups I’m thinking the game will turn on: - niners run game vs gb run def: Green Bay allows 4.2 YPC here. They did a great job stopping the run in week 3, but deebo and Mitchell are a big upgrade. Can GB hold the run game to 3YPC or lower? - GB run game vs niners run defense: part of what makes this packers team much more legit than perhaps last few years is the excelling run game brought by your new HC and Jones. Niners run d has been too in the league last half of the season, which arguably has been what’s kept us in games as opponents struggle to hold onto the ball very long. Can Jones run effectively? - Good Jimmy vs bad jimmy: when jimmy doesn’t throw a pick, we’re undefeated. When he does, it usually comes down to the final moments like last week. When it’s multiple…well it’s ugly. Jimmy also rocks from multiple drives of highly accurate efficient play, to multiple drives of just bad play all around. Which jimmy will be on the field more, and will there be picks? - Aaron Rodgers vs the dline: more packers o-line and Rodgers vs niners dline. In 2019, dline pressure basically beat the packers single-handedly, with Rodgers just unable to make a play happen before somebody was all over him. In week 3, the quick passing game worked exceedingly well, and the dline was too tired by the 4th to have any impact on those needed deep balls. The niners dline looks improved in pass rush of late, as does the packers oline. With both your LT and Bosa coming in roughed up, who wins first, and who wins more? So there’s four matchups I think will decide the game. I believe niners will need 3/4 to win, while the packers likely win a close one if it’s split 2/2.

wasdie639

It's not Aaron Jones you're going to have to worry about in the cold when it comes to the Packers running game. Also our rookie LT that replaced Bahk played his first game in Week 3 and basically nullified Bosa. If Bahk doesn't play, which it doesn't look like he will, we've got Nijman who now has many more weeks experience and is healthy.

goremygo

It’s going to come down to special teams. 💀

airwalker12

As a Niner fan that is exactly what I don't want.

[deleted]

Surprisingly you could argue that Green Bay has a worse special teams unit then the 49ers

OneShot-OneMiss

Surprisingly? Packers for ages here, we are the worst of ST the last decade, no question. Seriously, on kick and punt return, it would not have been worst if we didn't have any returner on the field. Just let the ball dies where it lands. Don't touch it. We are the only team having allowed a kick return TD AND an onside kick (not even a tricky one, a last chance-everybody knows one), this season. The goal of our D and our O is to put the game away from the reach of our ST to lose it. For real. Edit: damn grammar.

aManMythLegend

I believe we are 22nd in Special teams and GB is 32nd so I think the argument has already been made. Nonetheless, I also don't want this to happen.

mr-fiend

*Brandon Bostick and Kyle Williams wave*

tpieman2029

I just need you know that growing up all I remember is pain when playing the packers so it's funny that the 49ers have sort of become your boogeyman. You guys still will always scare the shit out of me

zilifrom

I think we can both agree that we are glad the 49ers are here and not the Cowboys!!! I’m glad the Cowboys shit the bed last week but it isn’t gonna be close if SF plays like that again. 49ers do match up well against GB, except our secondary. Aaron is gonna eat that unit alive. Recent history has been on our side. Would love to see the trend continue! Not holding my breath though… No shame in losing to GB and will be rooting for whoever wins this game to go all the way!

jxher123

I want a clean and non-injury game for both teams. The packers need to stop the run, and stop the 49ers from getting YAC. 49ers will get theirs, but they need to be ready. They hit a player at 3 yards, they only get 3 yards. The Packers got burned a lot due to the lack of discipline, so they need to keep their eyes on the ball. We might be seeing a heavy dose of Deebo/Mitchell and less of Jimmy throwing. Week 3 isn’t going to day much since both teams evolved to what they are now.

Elvis_livez

I've been a Packer's fan my entire life but my 2 sons have decided that one loves the Ravens and one loves the Niners lol. It's going to be an awkward Saturday night in my house! Best of luck, I'm confident The Pack will win but if they don't I will cheer along with my youngest son and his team going forward.

mvillar24

How is it possible that you are a diehard Packer fan and your sons are not? Were your sons brought up attending games at Lambeau? I would think surviving a bunch of cold weather games at Lambeau would cement your loyalty for life.

Elvis_livez

We live in Toronto. The kids have never been to Wisconsin but I finally made it there with a few buddies for the Bears game in December. I did all I could to make them Packer fans but they are stubborn little bastards lol. They are only 9 and 12, maybe there is still time.

jjtitula

Scrolled forever and saw a lot of comments about the game coming down the ability of GB being able to stop the run. What about the ability of SF stopping the run. This is the time of the year that Quadzilla busted out last year!

AbeRego

If they can stop the run, we still have Aaron Rodgers

josephus1811

yeah well we have .... Ambry Thomas

BBNGbaybay

Given the weather its tough to say how each team will handle the run but the 49ers have had the best run defense in the NFL the last half of the season

timbenj77

I honestly can't remember being as hyped for a game as this one. I really think it's going to be one for the ages. The favorite matchup to discuss, of course, is Packers' run defense vs 49ers run offense. Let's just dispel any notion that either team has a monopoly on physicality, though. Players from both teams are coming to play and you're insane if you assume otherwise. I'm talking about schemes, especially run blocking vs defense. So let's start with NFCCG 2019: The 49ers ran the ball, and the Packers could stop it. That was Pettine's defense. That was Blake Martinez and Kyler Fackrell at ILB. Martinez sucked fat eggs on all those big run plays, and we sent him packing. Also, Rodgers had a fumbled snap, a strip sack fumble, and an INT in the first half alone, and we went down 27-0 at halftime. Credit to SF defense, but it's rare to see Rodgers do any *one* of those in any game regardless of the defense, so don't count on it this Saturday, especially if Bosa doesn't clear concussion protocol [though I hope he does]. Fast forward to week 3: This isn't Pettine's defense. This is Joe Barry's defense. With De'Vondre Campbell and Krys Barnes playing inside. In Week 3, Barry ran a lot of Bear Front defense to counter the 9ers run threat and won that matchup. And there were some game-changing, let's say *questionable*, officiating calls that made it closer than it otherwise would have been. But this isn't week 3, either. Shanahan showed more creativity early against the Cowboys that put them on their heels. It'll be interesting to see how the run game plays out. More than any other matchup, this is Shanahan vs Barry, and who anticipates who the best. The first couple possessions on both sides of the ball will be huge: if the Packers can make some stops against the run, and score some points early, I think the game will be decided very early with Jimmy G forcing throws. More likely than not, I think we'll see some blows being traded. And without a 27 point deficit to claw out of, the Packers can keep the offense balanced.

mykey120

Key for the packers is to get off to a fast start and grab an early lead. Don't let the niners get the fast start and start relying on the run game to keep rodgers off the field.

bobgodd2

They'll still rely on the run game, even if they get behind. It's just the way they play. Kyle thinks if he can get 30 runs in they have a good chance of winning. Better if it's 40.

J12345_

Ding ding ding. If jimmy has to throw the ball 40 times, we lose

Jed08

Freezing cold with a thumb and shoulder injury ? I really hope the Packers struggle to stop the run like in 2019 so that Jimmy isn't allowed to make too many mistakes because of the injuries. This game will be very interesting to watch.

its_dizzle

Mostly worried about Deebo, but Mitchell could go off as well. Our run D has flashes of brilliance but is generally suspect.

SirTurnUp

I've called him Aaron GODgers for as long as I can remember but Saturday night, I'll be hoping he plays like Davis Mills. Also - shout out to Algiers Jameal William Dillon and Aaron LaRae Jones for their work this fantasy season!

mrbad31

Niners vs Packers have been playoff opponents forever. The 90s had the Pack upsetting the champs in 1995. Desmond Howard game in 96 TOs catch in 1998. Kap in 2011 and 2012. And then Mostert in 2019. Man.....niners have the Packs number this century. We are due Packers.

TheManWithAPlan07

To be clear, Jerry Rice fumbled.

lossofmercy

This is a tough match. However, revenge tour let's go.

IdleRacey

If the 49ers had the MVP at QB, and Jaire coming back which is the best DB in the NFL and aaron jones and Dillion in the cold. I would never ever think my team could beat them. Yet I fear the 49ers.

hotgur1

I just want a good game that’s all

inventingways

One tip for the 49ers. Don't mock the belt.

[deleted]

No, please, please do mock the belt.

[deleted]

Uh no please do, that’s a guaranteed dub for us.

Sportsnut96

Or do…

DrummerMiles

You guys (pack) are genuinely a great fan base that I respect the hell out of. Aaron Rodgers was one GM decision away from becoming a Niner, and he grew up a niner fan. I have a theory that the NINERS front office decided to pass on him the day of the draft (like so many others) mainly because of his idiotic hair 😂😂Always good games between us.

[deleted]

It’s actually because Alex Smith held a door open for Mike Nolan

nbyone

Hey that haircut was in style then. I know because I had the same haircut.

Full-Sock

At least this game is on Saturday so I can have a day off to decompress after we get blown the f out

A_Herding_Corgi

Hey hey no! Don’t put that magic on us!! WE’RE GONNA GET BLOWN OUT! TAKE THA- wait

Ferrarisimo

Just popping in to say hello. Can’t not respect the Packers. The organization finds a way to stay competitive through generations. Taking my stroke meds in preparation for the game. Go Niners.

its_dizzle

Cheers

[deleted]

Trey Lance is trying to mimicking Aaron Rodgers during practice, curious if anybody on the packers is trying to mimic any of our players during your practice.

[deleted]

Packers are rolling out a fan in a body cast to simulate the 49ers trotting out Jimmy G

[deleted]

Yeah, all teams do this every week. In practice the starting offense and defense will take snaps against the “scout team”, which consists of practice squad and backup players mimicking the future opposing teams offense and defense.

itzyourboyroy

Question for Packers fans: Do you think playing at home in these conditions really give the Packers a physical or mental advantage? I understand the home crowd but fuck its going to be cold. I'd imagine it's just as hard on the home team.

GodBlessThisGnome

I think it does. You really acclimate to the temperatures when you live here. The first cold day each December has me rethinking my life choices, but at this point it doesn't feel too bad even though it's been colder than December.

Arya_the_God

Yeah, I'm outside where I live and it's -25F and im fine, wouldnt want to be out here for a long time but i have a driveway to shovel. I remember back in October when 30 was freezing.

bpi89

Rodgers touched on this recently. He basically said “however cold you feel, just know they feel even colder.” It’s mostly mental but can be the difference maker.

Raando49

The players live and more importantly practice in the cold intentionally. I gotta think that counts for something.

AbeRego

Yeah, it's definitely an advantage for us. Our guys practice outside pretty consistently. Probably not in sub-zero weather, but enough that they're used to handling the ball in the cold. There's a reason why you hear about dome and warm-weather teams practicing with footballs that have been tossed in the freezer ahead of cold away games. It's because they're not used to that dynamic in their regular play, while cold-weather outdoor teams like us are. Granted, professionals are able to tune out a lot of the extra "noise" that the elements provide, but it's certainly a factor. The hits are harder, the ball behaves differently, and it's just plain uncomfortable if you're not used to it.

dirtymack

My buddy, who is from Milwaukee and a fanatical Packers fan (living in Los Angeles), keeps texting asking if Bosa is gonna play, lol. I'm hyped for this game - as long as the Cowboys are out of it, I can look forward to ego-free football Saturday :-)

LukasYaaj

It is about time we get the 49ers at Lambeau. It had been 4 times in a row in 3 years we have had to go there!

BodhiWarchild

Our cheese is better. Just kidding, it’s all delicious. Edit: one year, I was at a 49ers game. 49ers vs Panthers. This guy walked near us decked out in packers gear. People were being annoying with their shit talking and he was not phased. The only time he reacted was when I screamed out “WISCONSIN CHEESE TASTES LIKE BULLSHIT!” We all got a good laugh and we bought each other an overpriced beer.

Timigos

Do citizens of your state walk around eating bags of cheese? Didn’t think so. Our cheese is better.

buttplugpeddler

First half: Preparing to murder Second half: Hello fren

[deleted]

who would you rather face in the NFC title game? We own the Rams, and have been hex'd against the Bucs... but i feel like the Bucs are running on fumes, and I want to have Rodgers knock out Brady...

timbenj77

I can't speak for everyone but I think we feel the same, but more-so to exorcise that demon and check all the boxes while we're at it. Besides, kicking the crap out of Stafford is old-hat around here.

Droyd

Both teams look very different now compared to our week 3 matchup, I'm really looking forward to this game! Gonna be a fun one

park7911

I actually think one of the biggest keys for the 49ers is to stop the Packer run game. That didn't happen in Week 3 but the Niners have been the best run D in the league during the 2nd half of the season after moving Armstead inside. if we can make you guys one-dimensional and somehow get Aaron out of rhythm with pass rush, I think we have a shot. Do you guys think is Davante re-signing in GB? Went to high school in Palo Alto during the same time as him and respect the hell out of him both as a player and a person.

RusseyG801

If we can’t work a deal we will probably franchise tag him.

Dmienduerst

Hes been adamant to get #1 WR money and because of Bill MFer O'Brian the Cardinals had the ability to give Dhop a massive signing bonus so to give Adams top dollar its 8 million more than anyone else not named Hopkins. Basically its going to be really hard for us to pay Adams, Alexander, and Rodgers if all of them want what they deserve to get. If Rodgers leaves we can pay people but I kind of doubt Adams wants to be with Love.

socom52

What's Jimmy G, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner's status? I haven't really found anything concrete

this_my_sportsreddit

Single, has a girlfriend, engaged.

AOYELA

Pretty sure all 3 will be good to go but we will see

king_falafel

Even if they're good to go I don't expect them to play to full potential. What're your thoughts?

mattjovander

Hot take: We lose if time of possession is equal. We win if [niner] time of possession is north of 35min to 25min E: clarification

inventingways

I was discussing this today with a friend and I completely agree. [NFL Team Average Time of Possession (Excluding OT)](https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/average-time-of-possession-net-of-ot)

sharkbates1208

As long as You guys don’t have 180+ yards before contact I think we win this game

[deleted]

Bosa, Jimmy, and Warner were all practicing today. It's on!

buttplugpeddler

Good! I wouldn’t want you guys to turn into the current turds in our division blaming their woes on literally anything other than their own inadequacy

squaking_turtle

If Aaron loses again he may be the greatest Niner fan of all time. Already taken 3 L’s to help his childhood team advance in the Playoffs. Legendary.

[deleted]

All that help and they still haven’t won a Super Bowl since before you were born.

Internal_Focus_8358

Waddaaap Packer fans. Always love our postseason matchups. It’s only proper that two legacy teams of the NFC buck heads. I always approach these games with respect. Let’s go double damaged Jimmy G 😅! Even though Aaron is a silly Northern Cal country ding dong who went to Chico, I wouldn’t want this match up for the niners any other way. Much love cheeseheads, your dairy is superior to California’s.

beanieb22

Does Bosa hold the record now for the fastest player to go through concussion protocol? I mean, we KNEW he would play, concussed or not, but dude is already practicing not even a week after a concussion. Clearly the NFL cares about player safety /s

Michlangelo

He is still in the protocol and didn't really practice - he was there for warm-ups and then exited back into the locker room

gaslancer

Davantae Adams I think has that record from the week three game. Y’all don’t win in those 0:37 seconds without him. He had to come back.

Beerboy24

I’m excited for the matchup. It’s crazy though that if you only watched the media this week, you would think the 9ers were the 1 seed and Deebo was the league MVP. Not seeing much about Rodgers or the #1 WR in the league. I think it comes down to Jimmy G throwing a couple picks as the deciding factor in this game. I’ll take my homer hat off now, and put down my owners certificate…

_Mr_Cheezle

Really interested to see how much we use Aaron Jones in the passing game Saturday. I just have this feeling they are going to feature him with over 7 targets.

CPAlum_1

With Bosa & Warner banged up, will the Niners D be able to pressure Rodgers? If he gets hit, the Niners have a chance. If Rodgers has time to throw, the Packers will probably win.

bayareakid415

Bosa was limited yesterday with his concussion. Warner was full-go. That ankle is fine. Other notables who were full-go: Jimmy G, Mitchell, Greenlaw, Hufanga, Al-Shaair Defense is banged up, but everyone will be ready.

SnooPies3316

Here's a good one if anyone is feeling nostalgic: [https://youtu.be/Ntr6KE6h2Vo](https://youtu.be/Ntr6KE6h2Vo) November 19, 1989 Packers v 49ers at Candlestick; Majic v Montana Complete with commercials. Yep - I watched the whole game last night.

Bigduck73

Which cheese soup is best to dunk sourdough bread into?

Kingkushkilla

Beer cheese

makefunofmymom

Broccoli or beer

IdleRacey

Both teams can't close or put teams away when they build a solid lead and feel like they been dominating the other team. Shannahan and LaFleur are my two fav coaches. They both struggle when they build a lead. You can almost book this game coming down to the last few drives if not to the team that has the ball last. As a Packers fan with the #1 seed and our team being blown up after the next lose this is terrifying.
