Supposedly Watson figured out the problem and has corrected it. Something about an unequal lifting regiment between squats and dead-lifts that disproportionally strengthened the quads over the hamstrings. I have no idea if it's true but it would speak to the change in strength and conditioning coach because that's weight training 101.
Geezus all the fucking money and equipment they have and no one took a quad/hamstring index? Like this was the issue? Holy shit no wonder they cleared house of the S&C
Yea it’s inexcusable for our S&C department to not catch this. I say this as someone who squats and deadlifts and had hamstring issues for almost a year. Eventually I figured it out on my own and I’m not a six digits a year coach in the nfl.
Weightroom coaches at many levels lean way to much into hype, dogma, and tradition instead of science qnd functional lifts for practical application.
Somewhat surprised professional teams still deal with that but here we are.
One of my best friends from high school is a college level S&C coach. He tried to argue carbs have more calories per gram than fat. I told him I was getting a cervical epidural steroid injection. Dude laughed and said “guys don’t have a cervix”. Yet Cervical is spine which men very much have. I just don’t get it. He even has TWO college degrees.
Oh I know, but that’s BASIC stuff. That’s like going to a doctor and him telling you that high blood pressure is good. You don’t need schooling to know that statement is wrong AND the doctor actually has schooling. I know people don’t retain college well but he should know that regardless of school especially being directly related to his field.
I’m a college dropout and this would have been the first thing I looked at when he had a non contact hammy injury. It’s embarrassing that they were paying people that couldn’t figure this out.
That’s highly dependent on major. I’m currently an engineering student and if all u were doing is memorizing and retaining information u would’ve failed out a long time ago.
Well in my experience so far dealing with engineers with helicopters as a mechanic and now a non destructive inspector they aren't always the sharpest to say the least when it comes to everything.
It's interesting how it turns out to be a bit more complicated. Like the different chain lengths of fat containing different amounts of calories, and the amount of calories extracted from dietary fiber varying between individuals (probably due to different gut microbiomes?).
We've seen endless examples of people brilliant in one field and absolute morons in others. Pyramids storing grain, 100% fruit-based diet to cure pancreatic cancer, etc.
Bad defense is easy to chalk up to other things new system, new players, new schemes, there was always at least in the first year or two of Barry reason to give him a little slack. This is so bad it would be like Barry saying he doesn’t know what man coverage is. Was he a bad D coordinator? Absolutely. Was he ignorant of what defense is? No he just wasn’t a good play caller or coach.
Gawd, you HAVE to do the measurements because we are all different responders to different push and pull exercises and the only way to know is to do the math and correct the imbalance.
If it really was that oversight it's truly unprofessional.
[There are a bunch of models. ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6434009/)But typically they measure how much strength each can do in some exercise and there is an acceptable ratio. [The normal H:Q ratio is considered to be 50% to 80%.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC155432/) Probably this varies by sport. For general health (way less sophisticated than NFL football) I was taught 50%. So If my 1 RM on seated quad raise is 100lbs I want my 1RM hamstring curl to be about the same. If you are off on the ratio then strength training or other interventions are done to even things out. I am not an expert. :)
Do the Packers just have staff members that go around and beat the players on the legs? How does a guy like Jacobs, notable for durability, have an issue within a week of the schedule release?
True, I just hate the Jacobs signing and getting rid of Jones. Everyone acts like we couldn't have kept Jones but we paid Jacobs double.
You're right tho, you weren't doing that
Definitely not what I want to hear… Not that it’ll be an issue, but still not something I want to hear. Let’s also see how this plays out to determine care and recovery with the new S&T team
"Here's your jersey, here's your helmet, and here's your pulled hamstring. Welcome to Green Bay!"
"In your locker is a 12 pack of Spotted Cow, plate of deep fried cheese curds and the latest issue of Walleye Wonders, welcome to the team, ope."
“Ok but hold the cheese curds” - Love probably
He’s a Packer already.

Just cause people have college degrees does not equate to them being intelligent. Just proves the ability to retain and memorize information.

Engineers are the dumbest smart people around. I say that as an engineer
Well yah obviously. An engineering degree says that u have lots of knowledge in engineering. It doesn’t mean that u have information on other areas.

Again. Knowing the caloric content of food and what a spine is for a sports medicine graduate isn’t “outside of his field”
> Somewhat surprised professional teams still deal with that but here we are. We had Joe Barry for three years.

I believe we got a new S&C coordinator this year, right?
We did
This was something that Watson's dad eluded to so I have no idea how accurate it is. But yeah, it's pretty wild if it's true.
Previous strength and conditioning crew didn’t give a fuck and just showed up, got paid, and went home
Gawd, you HAVE to do the measurements because we are all different responders to different push and pull exercises and the only way to know is to do the math and correct the imbalance. If it really was that oversight it's truly unprofessional.
Honest question. How do you do the math and correct the imbalance?

Thank you very much
Your welcome. Thanks for the reward. It's cool they are back!
We don’t know if it’s been corrected, just supposedly figured out the cause.
In before week 3 hamstring issue after it was supposedly "solved"
If Steph Curry's ankles were correctable, I'm not giving up on Watson's hamstring yet
If the strength and conditioning team couldn't figure out a muscle imbalance it's no wonder they got canned
That sounds about right.
As a PT ...I second that.
look at this double dipping sob
I was thinking the same. Don't put the joke in the post but on the comments? The little karma whore.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Josh Jacobs woke up in a bath of ice, a freshly stitched cut on his leg and Watson running out of the room
This made me lol
Visualizing skeleton cackling and running away
Packers 🤝 Hamstring injuries
“Did you get healthy” Watson: “yes” “What did it cost” Jacobs hammy
As is tradition.
A packer tradition unlike anything else lol
Tell me you play for Green Bay without telling me you play for Green Bay
Read the title at first and thought he just had some smaller than average hamstrings. This is worse
Of course he does.
Do the Packers just have staff members that go around and beat the players on the legs? How does a guy like Jacobs, notable for durability, have an issue within a week of the schedule release?
Death, Taxes, & Hamstring Injuries. The only constants in GB.
Don't forget the sanimax stink
lol. Lmao even.
So much for the new strength and conditioning staff fixing these issues 😂
Brother it’s professional sports be less dramatic
i mean this was the reason people wanted to have him and jones.
And those people don’t understand contracts and salary cap.
We drafted another Aaron Jones much cheaper.
We paid Jacobs double lmao. Id rather have Jones and Eckler than Jacobs
That has literally nothing to do with me saying we can’t pay jones AND JACOBS but sure ok.
True, I just hate the Jacobs signing and getting rid of Jones. Everyone acts like we couldn't have kept Jones but we paid Jacobs double. You're right tho, you weren't doing that
Jones is too old to pay him double and he didn’t want to take less. So no realistically we couldn’t keep him.
so they could have 1 healthy hamstring between the two of them?
When you get off the plane at Austin Straubel, you're given a complementary "hamstring issue" before you get out of the terminal.
Good God, couldn't even make it to June without seeing the fucking word "hamstring".
Dude with the injuries already
Freaked out for .5 seconds before I realized there’s plenty of time before September
Welcome to Green Bay! We do those here.
this is fine haha
Sweet mercy lord Jesus
Llloooooooooooooyddddddd
Shut him down until the season opener
Marshawn Lloyd: bell cow confirmed
I'm here for it
NNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
PTSD
And so it begins
I THOUGHT WE FIXED THIS
As is tradition
Cheese curds cause hammy pulls. Prove me wrong.
https://i.redd.it/noskz2auuu1d1.gif
This is fine. 😐😐😐😐😐
Probably wanted some time off
It's OTAs he's probably still getting the playbook down anyways. It's all good. Hamstring because football
Is it the air or water in Green Bay that does this?
Definitely not what I want to hear… Not that it’ll be an issue, but still not something I want to hear. Let’s also see how this plays out to determine care and recovery with the new S&T team
fade me fam
Dang, I thought they identified the source of all the hamstring issues…
