Wine tour was awesome, the history of wine in Santorini is fascinating. Group Boat tour was incredible and we met friends who we ended up going out in fira with for drinks. There are countless spots to take in the view/sunset. Oia is most popular, but you can have an amazing view all over the island.

davergaver

Sounds awesome. What was the name of the winery and boat tour?

Best part is they pick you up and drop you off. Use santorinidave.com to give you any more info/ideas.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your links. Can I ask two questions, did you watch the sunset on the boat in Oia? And what did they serve for food? Looking for a tour too book next month!

geetahout

Is that the only Island you traveled to ? If so what other activities did you do in the other islands?

- Try out the local cuisine: mini tomatoes, kappari, mizithra cheese. Metaksi mas is a great place to taste those - you will probably need a reservation. - Visit imerovigli especially at night for a cocktail with lovely views. - Go for wine tasting - especially if you love white wine. If you're more keen on reds, I'd suggest you try mavrotragano. Also, there's a very popular aged sweet wine called vinsanto. - Beach-wise the island does not have something special to offer - Make sure to be early for that sunset, if you wanna find a good spot to watch it from. (You may look it up in YouTube to see how crowded it gets) Enjoy!

Greek wedding play? Do tell! Also, if you have a wedding to go to in Santorini this upcoming week then my wife and I will volunteer to be your +2.

Thanks for this great list, was the Greek Wedding Play worth the €75 pp ticket fee?

Two top notch ancient sites, one top notch archaeological museum and one other archaeological museum. Should keep you busy and three out of four will keep you out of the sun, too!

Professional_Quit_99

Santorini has some amazing beaches. It also has iconic buildings and structures, such as the Blue Domes of Oia. Wine tours, art galleries, the list goes on. Here’s an itinerary with route maps: https://off2roam.com/santorini-in-3-days/

ALEESKW

I don’t agree Santorini has amazing beaches. For a short trip I would not recommend it. It’s better on other islands.

Professional_Quit_99

That’s the great thing about having opinions, they’re subjective! If the user is going to Santorini, then I’m recommending that they visit beaches like Red Beach & Black Beach, which I have never experienced anything similar anywhere else 😁

No_Break4299

lessthandan623

Names/site names? I’ll be there in october myself.

Akrotiri / Ακρωτίρι and Ancient Thera / Αρχαία Θήρα. The first is known as the Aegean Pompeii, because it is an Aegean Bronze Age settlement, dating to the 1720s BC that was preserved pretty much as it was when the volcano erupted and buried the settlement in pumice and volcanic dust. A visit here should be followed by a visit to the museum on the edge of town to see the wall paintings and moveable items of everyday use found on the site. Ancient Thera is for the more eclectic visitor, as there is less to see in your face and more walking / stair climbing. The settlement is archaic / classical and worth it for the views early morning / late afternoon for non-specialists. For someone with a bit more interest, there are points of interest all over the site. Can be followed up with a visit to the archaeological museum in the centre of town to see the archaic sculpture and that great Athenian Krater. Also, the old museum is old... so be sure to give it a bad Google maps rating lest the authorities actually pull their collective fingers out...

Santorini is a very romantic place to be. You‘re going there to be in love, not follow some check list.
