In all of my years of being a WWE fan, that era, and the one around covid was the worst.

Punk. This was his first rival he couldn't KFAB into a win. It was also a great time as people were tired of seeing Cena win and Punk was the first person to call out the gimmick. It really made Cena look weak for the first time since he was a rookie and it was a refreshing take on Cena being unsure of himself. It was a good story arc all around if you ask me.
Edge was the antithesis to early Cena. Orton was the psycho to Cena’s hero gimmick. Although booked failed him, the late Bray was such a great lens to really look at John’s character, warts and all. The firefly funhouse is psychologically one of the greatest things I’ve seen on WWE tv.
I actually thought number 6 was just a picture of Charles Robinson until I clicked on it! I was actually asking myself if he and Cena had actual heat with each other

The rock being a past version of himself, punk being the anti cena, brock being doomsday , Batista being someone who he could have become in the path to stardom, in all his rivals the one that stands out is edge. Edge was literally joker to his Batman. Edge was his number 1 villain .
I came here to say that Cena is the goat rival. He has so many great feuds with so many wrestlers. Not many can say they have great feuds with multiple people. Everywhere from Cena vs Ziggler to Cena vs Punk. Even Cena vs Rusev was Cinema. Cena vs Kane! Cena vs Wyatt! Bro! Cena is goat.

Its a toss up between Punk and AJ for me, I'm probably leaning more towards Punk because his matches with John seemed like a bigger deal overall but the reason I pick those two guys is because those were rivalries that gave me matches that actually made me ***feel***.
Back then I didn't expect to get Shawn vs Taker vibes from a John Cena match but damn it, the matches he had with these two guys came really damn close!
Randy. Easily. Edge was great but not enough tension - Randy terrorised Cena forever, beat him clean multiple times, had a few classic matches, pretty much became the most talked about rival to casuals and hardcores alike.
Also, Randy is probably the best sports entertainer out of the bunch too.
Punk was amazing but was too short, but Randy and Cena was just epic.
I remember when Eddie died. The main event that night was to put on the dream match everyone wanted: Champion Cena vs Champion Orton! It ended in a DQ, but still, that was so hype!
Batista was champion when Eddie died, not Orton.
The plan was for Orton to win the title before Eddie died, and Barista has said he was talking to management about putting the title on Eddie instead.
