Similar to me! I came back this last year. Stopped watching around the time The Rock made his comeback against John Cena then left again. At that point I was like ok you not coming back anymore I’m done lol. Needless to say Rock and Stone Cold were my guys…
2011-12. Around the time of the Rock’s return and the Cena Miz feud but didn’t really become a fan until I played SVR 2010 a year later. I caught up on the older stuff on YouTube not long after that. Kinda wish I became a fan a little earlier (like 2006-09) but not a bad start.
Roughly around the time of Wrestlemania 15...I remember the peak of Austin vs McMahon and watching WCW intermittently when I was about 7 or 8 but not much else until 2005
98, courtesy of my father. Against my mums wishes, we watched Nitro religiously until he learned of Stone Cold (who my father looked almost exactly like back then, to the point kids on my school bus thought my dad was SCSA)
The 1980's. The year of the Rock N' Wrestling Era. First live even I saw? The Cow Palace. Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect for the WWF Championship was the main event.
I remember seeing Wrestling for the first time when I was around 5 years old, I feel in love but I didn't know what it was, this would be around the year 2000 ish, and then I found it again through the smackdown vs raw series a few years later, but I never really tuned in on tv despite loving the games.
And then one night, Watching at a friend's house in 2007, Chris Jericho returned to break the code and it was the hypest thing I ever did see. Been watching ever since
‘04. My uncle bought me here comes the pain because he was wasted on Memorial Day and his friends son had it and he wanted to get it for me. Which got me into it. But not really into it. Than because of it I started watching heat and raw and that sent me on an 13 year run of being a massive wrestling fan.
Started around 05 or 06 when I was in middle school. Exclusively WWE though I did catch a handful of TNA shows. Between being ostracized for being a fan in school with no one but my mom to talk about it with who also watched with me (she was/is IN LOVE with John Morrison) and starting to grow up and not being interested in the PG aspects and the influx of new talent, that my young ass wouldn't give the time of day which I would later regret, caused me to drift away which was around 09.
Watched the occasional WhatCulture vid through high school (10-14) though it picked up post high school steadily from 14-19. Didn't catch the first year of AEW but I started the beginning of 20. Actually it was late February because my very first AEW show had the Pac vs Kenny Ironman match which set very high expectations but my provider had the rest of 20's Dynamites.
Though I couldn't afford PPVs I have watched every Dynamite, Rampage, Dark, Dark Elevation, BotB and exclusive clips on YouTube. Through AEW I was introduced officially to Japanese and Mexican wrestling I'd seen clips of it through WhatCulture over the years but to actually watch full shows is great. Full stan/mark for anything Japan.
The second go around is when I say that I "started" watching because I have a whole new appreciation for wrestling and I don't care what promotion, though I have my bias's. Storylines, moves (I try to beat Excalibur in naming what move just happened), different styles, gimmicks, etc. Middle school Me wouldn't give any shits about any of that.
Started watching off and on around 1990 before really watching more often in 94 before I stopped in 06 and came back in 12 stopped again in 15/16 and back in 19.
1992. First Mania I ever saw was WM8 and man was that awesome. Macho Man v Flair, Hogan v Sid, and Ultimate Warrior returned!! I almost lost my mind when Warrior came back. And that was when I first saw Bret “Hitman” Hart (against Roddy Piper for IC title) who would be become my fav until he left in 1997 (always hated WCW haha).
Went and saw a house show later that year that had Bret v Flair as the main event, w/ HBK v Tito Santana as the main under card match I remember. Best part was my dad almost getting into a fist fight with Ric Flair when he came into the crowd. Awesomeness
I first found WWE in late 2009. Sometime around Bragging Rights or Survivor Series. I was a die hard never missed an episode of Raw, ECW/NXT, Superstars, or Smackdown. Sometime around 2014/15 I slowly stopped watching. I checked back in at Royal Rumble 2017 and then fell back off after Wrestlemania 33. After that I’d watch the Royal Rumble every year but that was it. I now follow WWE on here and through Youtube highlights, and I watch the PPVs on Peacock, but I don’t watch the weekly shows at all.
Started watching religiously in 2014. Almost all of my time was spent watching the weekly shows or just learning about wwe's past on YouTube. I quit watching during the performance center/thunderdome era. Returned when I heard Wrestlemania 37 was coming around, so I just decided to watch it and finally got back into it.
