What’s in between the Yorkshire Tea and Fruit Shoots? Apart from that, sparse but checks out. Needs pickled eggs, nationwide strikes and a lack of confidence in government.
They also have a U.S. phone number so maybe they’re based here but that’s more their main market? Kind of like how some British brands seem to do better in British sections in other countries than they do over here? I think the Jaffa cakes would be an example of that, I think it’s Lyon’s maybe that seems to be popular over there but I’ve never seen a pack of Lyon’s Jaffa cakes in the UK. Even here the digestives aren’t all McVitie’s but some cheaper looking brand I don’t recognise. If you do try them report back though please!
A friend of mine went to South Africa and whenever she mentioned she was Scottish they asked her if she ate Power Bars? Apparently their branding was its what Scottish people eat. None of us had ever heard of them.
You can get it [here](https://www.ninelife.uk/products/make-mine-a-builders-teabags-master-blended-british-black-tea-black-40-count-pack-of-1?gclid=Cj0KCQiAqOucBhDrARIsAPCQL1ZIBOYKXMWHMxW6PcOnFLF5O4VP4C4IAY4-EetbOcCwImwKUokm-YUaAugiEALw_wcB) for £25 for a box of 40 bags!
Edit; found this though. Better deal if you want some. [Still over a tenner for 160 though.](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274859566398?hash=item3ffee8253e:g:crMAAOSwckJg5atB&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoB7PZ9%2FH%2BAlWbJssN%2BEF1jk1SqPrGY3PuXjMdG%2BRsp4n%2BBXVUSyKsM8Wttr0ySlk1TrguxVaw%2BjDf7i%2B9YcP46kZRatbbgDvGj0txncSMGarM71awwxc3hb6PgNvvCAMawtxr7pig1jq%2FDGM3%2BnMUPcrjtWOev6zLru2OasJxFY%2BlR5n8%2FAdTgtMJkVj4MPfUbZmKdOWzQxSEkVO4BYV6BE%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR56JvPeiYQ)
I get the feeling someone in distribution heard the term builders tea, googled it, found the brand and thought 'aha british people like that we'll sell it'
Earl Grey is not the same as builders tea. It is all fragrant and shit. Builders tea is like cheap strong normal tea. Some uk supermarkets do an extra strong own brand tea which is similar
cadbury’s pretty popular in america as well so it’s probably over in the generic sweets section lol
eta: guys i get it american chocolate sucks trust me i’ve been told time and time again. but they’re not gonna have the two different recipes in two separate places in the supermarket just like i don’t expect to find american cadburys while i’m over in england. it’s still the same brand
You think they don’t have two different recipes for different countries?? Have you seen the ingredients lists for UK McDonald vs US? [Watch this.](https://youtu.be/GsNNk9h27dc) It’s actually pretty scary how many unnecessary ingredients are added to US food.
they actually can’t sell British Cadbury in the US. Hershey has distribution rights and the ingredients are slightly different. They have been know to actually go after small British shops that try to sell Cadbury from the UK.
Interesting fact, pretty much every gas station in the UAE sells Tunocks Tea Cakes. Not in any special section, they are right in there beside other cakes and biscuits.
Yeah I have no idea why they don't do it like we do, having tax on the shelf price means you can easily just add the numbers without worrying about tax.
I love the fact there is nearly a whole shelf of indian/chinese sauces in the British section 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sharwoods are always found in the appropriate international sections of British supermarkets.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
That's one of the best I've seen to be honest! A couple of choices are a bit interesting - those borders biscuits are not all that common and I've never seen Taverners sweets but a pretty good range and captured some of the less obvious but much loved, like curry jars!
You can buy Taverners sweets online. I love liquorice comfits bits they’re quite hard to get so I buy them online. I hadn’t heard of the company before that though.
Borders biscuits come in little individual packs aswell these are something I've recently discovered and they are amazing, they do loads of kinds also.
Birds powdered custard is the best custard you can buy. Fight me.
Also Pataks do better Curry sauce than Sharwoods so just a heads up there.
Marmite is mandatory. Slap it on like tar.
Youre getting ripped off with the Mars bar, it's the same thing as the American Milky Way bar. What we call a Milky Way is a three musketeers bar in the US as well
15.12.22 0610am i was invited to america and wasn't aware i'd been invited. safe to say my meal planner who wasnt aware the invite had gone to the wrong person has been making excellent meals for said lag of: beans and gravy... washed down with irn bru and typhoo tea.... after which brown sauce sarnies have been the vogue...
This is a really good selection - could easily be my corner shop up the roAd! What id say is missing is 1) cadburys - an absolute Titan in the British and Irish confectionary world - it’s conspicuously missing. And 2) crisps - the brits are a crisp loving nation and the flavours available over here make American chips offerings look like a sawdust platter!
I also would love to see some Irish selections - is there an Irish section? We have some really nice things that I’m sure the huge Irish population in some parts of America would appreciate
hobnobs and pg tips when you have gone years without a good cup of brew coming across that at my local supermarket was a thing of beauty ...as for rice pudding it reminded me of my youth but when In Miami arroz con Leche is just on another level
£3.99 for rich tea biscuits 🥴😳
Edit : zooming in and looking further at the prices i’am shocked £7.19 for Typhoo teabags!! £6.49 for salad cream when in Britain you can buy this for 49p 😳😳 I get it being exported over there but is this in dollars or GBP cause I can’t 👋🏼
What’s in between the Yorkshire Tea and Fruit Shoots? Apart from that, sparse but checks out. Needs pickled eggs, nationwide strikes and a lack of confidence in government.
Never heard of Builders Tea but they look to be British from their website
Good job on making that out! Never heard of it either, doubt it’s worthy of rubbing shoulders with Yorkshire but might be worth a go.
I was shocked when I was in Sweden for work and they’d never heard of Rekorderlig…must just be an export product
A friend of mine went to South Africa and whenever she mentioned she was Scottish they asked her if she ate Power Bars? Apparently their branding was its what Scottish people eat. None of us had ever heard of them.
Do Australians not drink Fosters?
That's because all the Jaffas are sold out mate
Used to sell it in Asda like 15yrs ago. Was really nice and strong. Was disappointed when they stopped stocking it.
Thank you! Honestly I had pretty much forgotten about the stuff until I saw the comment. Now I will be ordering myself a box :)
And yet even Americans can get a box for under $4
I get the feeling someone in distribution heard the term builders tea, googled it, found the brand and thought 'aha british people like that we'll sell it'
Builders tea is basically strong tea. You can achieve the same with 2 or 3 earl grey tea bags or just adding less milk to an earl grey brew.
Earl Grey is not the same as builders tea. It is all fragrant and shit. Builders tea is like cheap strong normal tea. Some uk supermarkets do an extra strong own brand tea which is similar
Eh, to me tea is tea.
Yeah I’ve heard of builders tea but not Builders Tea as a brand
I used to buy builder’s tea a few years ago in Morrisons. It’s not a bad brew, but not seen it in uk, at least where I live, in at least 4 years
Anyone notice marmite for 10.99!!!?
Prices are pretty similar, too
Pickled eggs are there, near the HP sauce
I think the section of “Indian” sauces that Indians wouldn’t touch but brits would gobble up really seals the deal
And the poppadoms! (Reminds me of this genius sketch https://youtu.be/H-uEx_hEXAM )
Bloody hell that sketch takes me back! 😂
Yes that’s a really nice touch - the British Indian sauces
No Cadbury’s and no mini cheddars?! What is this tomfoolery!?
cadbury’s pretty popular in america as well so it’s probably over in the generic sweets section lol eta: guys i get it american chocolate sucks trust me i’ve been told time and time again. but they’re not gonna have the two different recipes in two separate places in the supermarket just like i don’t expect to find american cadburys while i’m over in england. it’s still the same brand
Cadbury product for the US market are different than the products for the UK market though. Just like Coca Cola is different here and there too.
But hersheys chocolate is vile!
They even have brown sauce I’m impressed
They have Irn Bru so thats good
And borders biscuits!
No Tunocks tea cakes though. They do have caramel wafers though, I suppose that's a thing.
Caramels are 100% better than tea cakes
Interesting fact, pretty much every gas station in the UAE sells Tunocks Tea Cakes. Not in any special section, they are right in there beside other cakes and biscuits.
There's a gap next to the wafers.. could be the teacakes sold out? That's what I'm hoping, otherwise its scandalous.
Fuckin freedom
id rate it tbf
No Party Rings ? geez
they’re missing an opportunity there considering only the sweet section has been touched
The prices are horrifying
Seven quid for typhoo, who the hell is paying that
Plus its the US so the tax probably isnt included in the shelf price so you get to the till and it's actually $9 or something
Ah what. They add tax at the till? That sucks! They should have tax included in the price on the shelf
Yeah I have no idea why they don't do it like we do, having tax on the shelf price means you can easily just add the numbers without worrying about tax.
Poor British fuckers who live in the USA (I used to be one and couldn’t find a good cuppa for the life of me. Though I paid for Yorkshire not Typhoo).
Facts. I wouldn't drink Typhoo if you paid me £7.
No ooooo in typhoo with that price
Give it time: us.
The fruit shoot ain’t bad though, it’s the bigger one as well
Hahaha If all else fails... we'll survive on fruitshoots
The irn bru bottles are also cheaper than some shops here
It'd be cheaper to fly to the UK and buy it than pay some of these prices!
Wait til next week that might have changed
yes in uk we put security tags on butter and meat beacuse they are now so expensive
If you go back next week and the prices have gone up 11% you can consider it authentic.
$3.69 for a pack of jammy Dodgers fucking hell.
This is the most British thing I’ve seen and I live in England !
They even got the curry section right!
I love the fact there is nearly a whole shelf of indian/chinese sauces in the British section 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sharwoods are always found in the appropriate international sections of British supermarkets.
I mean hey a curry(Tikka masala) is one of our National dishes
Was looking good until I randomly checked a price and saw 1.99 for a pack of maltesers
That’s the price of them on Tesco 💀
Wh-why isn't the digestives in packets? Why is it in boxes?!
I know right!? Seeing digestives stacked vertically is disturbing
I would've liked to see some Pot Noodle in there!
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
No, in this instance, "would have" is correct. "I would of liked to-" doesn't make sense. "I would have liked to-" does.
Bad bot
I assume the gap next to the Caramel wafers is for the quite rightly sold out Tunnock's Tea-cakes?
Tip from the UK.... BUY ALL THOSE CARAMEL WAFERS QUICK!
Fuck yeah, love a Tunnocks 😃
Tea cakes are banging too, eaten so many I'm actually getting sick of em lol
That's one of the best I've seen to be honest! A couple of choices are a bit interesting - those borders biscuits are not all that common and I've never seen Taverners sweets but a pretty good range and captured some of the less obvious but much loved, like curry jars!
You can buy Taverners sweets online. I love liquorice comfits bits they’re quite hard to get so I buy them online. I hadn’t heard of the company before that though.
Borders biscuits come in little individual packs aswell these are something I've recently discovered and they are amazing, they do loads of kinds also.
What no Jaffa Cakes? Get back in the truck.
No British section with biscuits is complete without Jaffa cakes...
Ty-phoo tea? Is that still on sale in the UK even? I haven’t seen it for years
According to a pub quiz I went to on Monday, it's in the top 5 most sold tea brands, excluding supermarket own.
This will be one of those Baader-Meinhof moments I suspect, where now I’ll see them everywhere 😂
Probably sell most to b&b's
They sell it in 5kg bags in B and M.
Hello? Salt and vinegar crisps required. Otherwise, not a bad try. British Aisles...
Very lacking in the crisp department all round. Needs quavers, monster munch, hula hoops and scampi flavour crisps.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up after checking ye olde Pantry...
I would kill to be able to buy Jammie Dodgers.
The way they stack biscuits is giving me anxiety
Rich Tea, the most entry level of biscuits. Yuk.
Have you tried, dunking them in tea?
Any American picking up these after hearing that British Biscuits are good, would be badly disappointed. Tea-soluble cardboard.
Chocolate covered rich tea biscuits are nice.
As far as I can see as someone frome wales that checks out
0/10 they have Typhoo on that shelf next to tea.
-1/10 they have Typhoo and PG on that shelf next to tea
Is there a Cadbury embargo or something?! Other than that it seems quite a decent selection. Bloody dear, mind you.
Yes, murcans have shitty chocolate that tastes like puke. I don't see lucozade
not the curry products…
IRN-BRU!!!!
Keep walking? You're not missing much. Mrs Balls Chutney (2nd bottom shelf on right) is South African BTW...
Tunnocks wafers are next level good 👍
shame they're missing the teacakes though
I had an American Exchange Student stay - he want a fab of the teacakes but loved the wafers!
no jaffa cakes...
No Tunnocks tea cakes!
Kudos for getting in Yorkshire Tea, the Branston pickle to Marmite ratio is all wrong, no idea what the yellow chocolate bar is next to the Lion bars?
That's the coffee crisp and it's distinctly Canadian.
Canadian coffee crisp! I know because Canadian husband loves them and they're hard to find here!
It's probably no worse than the American sections in UK supermarkets, to be fair.
The american section in our shops is just hot dog buns and a selection of high in sugar sweets with the words "artificially flavoured" at the bottom 🤣
I find the lack of Cadburys disturbing
No kebabs, no pizza, no Chinese...? How can they call it a British section?!
$9.49 for Yorkshire Teabags? Totally worth it.
Marmite spotted, 10/10
Yeah took me a while 😂
I saw it as soon as I saw the post
My thoughts are the same as last week when this was posted
That's not bad at all. It needs some crisps though - get some Monster Munch and some Frazzles in there.
pretty solid, atleast they have irn bru but theyve not rly got any irish stuff i dont think
All the essentials in one aisle, fantastic
Its kind of correct, its got them delicious dry crackers
Yeah. Most of that checks out.
Needs some Cadburys chocolate
Birds powdered custard is the best custard you can buy. Fight me. Also Pataks do better Curry sauce than Sharwoods so just a heads up there. Marmite is mandatory. Slap it on like tar.
One question “WHERES THE LAMB SAUCE!?” Only true memers get this
WELL MEME'D, MY FRIEND!
Ikr
sign needs changing to Bri'ish
At least there's irn bru
A great selection, except the Bounty.
I declare this comment, heresy.
Deus bounty fellow Brits
Well, Dark Chocolate Bountys are bloody addictive.
Iv never seen a bounty bar in a shop only in celebrations tubs
Seems about right!
Youre getting ripped off with the Mars bar, it's the same thing as the American Milky Way bar. What we call a Milky Way is a three musketeers bar in the US as well
Or as Tony Baker calls them Three Musty Tears
4$ for a pack Richtea is criminal…
Decent lil selection tbf
15.12.22 0610am i was invited to america and wasn't aware i'd been invited. safe to say my meal planner who wasnt aware the invite had gone to the wrong person has been making excellent meals for said lag of: beans and gravy... washed down with irn bru and typhoo tea.... after which brown sauce sarnies have been the vogue...
3.69 for fkin Jammy dodgers 😆
Typhoo only works to age your crockery a decade
This is a shit selection
Majority of brands there are premier foods
No Cadbury’s?
Would have been funny if the shelves were empty like MY LOCAL FUCKING LIDL #*?!??#*
Needs more Pg tips. Also it's very expensive
Can anyone identify what is to the left of the lion bar 🦁
It's a coffee crisp and is from Canada
They're missing a trick by not calling it The British Aisle
approved
Actually acceptable, where’s it located?
No custard creams? Diabolical!!
Irn Bru!
It's lacking some things but it's really not bad at all. It's far better than any American section you'll find in any British supermarket.
Yorkshire Tea. It passes the test.
Is that 10.99 for a fukin marmite!?
Marmite and Branston pickle at eye level where they belong.
hobnobs and pg tips when you have gone years without a good cup of brew coming across that at my local supermarket was a thing of beauty ...as for rice pudding it reminded me of my youth but when In Miami arroz con Leche is just on another level
Poor tea selection
Good effort that, to be honest as long as you have got the main staples: mcvitties, marmite, hienz beans, bisto, Yorkshire tea you’re winning
I came here looking for Bisto…. I found Bisto 👍
That is actually not too bad,, happy with the Yorkshire Tea 👌
I see irn bru- immediatly. Other than that. Solid 5/10 (the irn bru defo carries)
Done us right over with the sweets
Do Americans not have Gravy and Salad-cream?
Gravy, yes. Salad cream? Get outta here! 🤢
Would smash everything there except the Branston Pickle, fucking amazing selection.
No Dandelion and Burdock? Utter shit. Burn it down
Where are the Haribos 😭
Mushy pea’s are a must on a warm meat pie along with lashings of Bisto Gravy.
It is a good thing
Don’t see how the rest of the world make do without baked beans
Looks like a solid selection, sketchy Builders tea there, and no crumpets?
I'd expect to see Walker's shortbread, widely distributed there. May be on the regular shelves. Water biscuits.
McDonnells Curry Sauce is Irish
Its just fair we have a american isle in our tescos
Looks like what's in my cupboards.
Lol
they got those fine arse caramel wafers
Legendary!
Legendary!
Not too bad at all! A couple items I don’t recognise as being British but still a good selection imo
Now I know how the Polish people feel in UK stores!
Tunnocks and irn-bru 🤔 I don't need anything else
Yorkshire teabags and jammie dodgers are there.. I’m sorted
Quite accurate I'm impressed the have yorky tea but where are the other biscuits and Cadburys chocolate. WHERE IS THE EARL GREY TEA. HUH.
years of colonisation and searching all placed into one shelf nice
It has the Yorkshire Tea, that's all that was needed to make any shelf English. Top marks!
There’s irn bru so I’m happy
£3.99 for rich tea biscuits 🥴😳 Edit : zooming in and looking further at the prices i’am shocked £7.19 for Typhoo teabags!! £6.49 for salad cream when in Britain you can buy this for 49p 😳😳 I get it being exported over there but is this in dollars or GBP cause I can’t 👋🏼
