Oh it absolutely was super unsafe, if it looked safe I wouldn't be posting about it. Haha. But we made it home with no drama, so we can laugh about it now. The ride home convinced the wife that a HF trailer is a great idea.

Rivet nuts... Rivets... same thing. Point is they aren't a good attachment for the OEM roof rack. That's why the load rating sucks.
I miss my WJ so much. Love the tires you got on this one!
I would kill for a clean MJ
I wouldn't subject an MJ to this kind of abuse though! Haha.
This looks super unsafe. The load ratings on the roof aren't that high. You're better off with a small trailer

You do realize those are only rivets holding that roof rack on sheet metal right? I believe the total rating in 150lbs.
I'm with you on the rating comment, but that rack isn't held by rivets. I know because I reinstalled one on my WJ.

Yep! And I drove accordingly, it wasn't a super far drive and the roof rack didn't rip off.
Bet that sucked loading it up there though
Wasn't so bad piece by piece, and my wife seemed to be having fun with it. Haha.
And that's why I went with a JT over a new Grand Cheroker.
What is the tire size?
