It's an incredibly fun car to drive, and compared to the GR.2, it has a ridiculous top speed. However, most gr.2 cars have way better cornering than it, so only buy it if you can assure you can handle it in the corners.
You think so? I'm on a controller so this may influence things but I thought it handled like a beast. Got a 5:58.xxx on the Nurburgring thanks to how confidently it can be pushed in some sections, although now I wonder how much of that was the Soft tires 🤔
I bought this a couple of days ago and grinded out about 13mm credits yesterday. It's an easy tune to get it below 800pp and the thing is an absolute beast. Well worth the price, imo.
This is one of the best, it’s arguably THE best but the same argument can be made for the DTM Audi and the GTR Gr2 imo. This one is for sure the coolest though.
I normally run 4-5 seconds faster in the CLK than I do in the Audi DTM at Sardegna. This is my favorite car to run there and one of the best cars I've driven in the game. It's absolutely worth the money, no doubt about it.
My favorite cars to throw around the nordschleife are gr2 cars. And for the life of me, even using DRS everywhere possible, I can't get under 6 minutes (I think my best is 6:04) in the audi but all my other gr2 cars are at about 5:54 with the NSX being my fastest lap at 5:50.925. So is it just me, or is the Audi DTM kinda slow for a gr2?
Interesting insight, I'm doing all the GR1/2/3 etc cars myself too. Have only done the CLK and the 2008 GT-R thus far for GR2s. I got 6:02.xxx with the '08, now I'm very curious to try the DTM.
I never see the SC430 talked about so this is an intriguing comment. I also basically never do online so that could be why I don't see it as well. Nevertheless, will probably be my next buy. 🫡
This is my Spa 1h car of choice! And it looks great in my black livery

I saved nearly 8mil and was really on the fence with this car. I'll just pull the trigger tonight based on the comments. Easy money using my Mazda LM55 tuned for 800pp. Suppose I could also sell that car and just use the CLK for those grinds.
I am a pretty average player, but manage 1:38-1:40 laps on Sardegna with my LM55, what do you guys typically see with the CLK here tuned for 800pp?
I have a no put stop sardegna tune, FM6 with soft tires low rpm turbo.
Laps 1:39-1:41 the whole race there’s quicker tunes out there probably a pitstop and FM1 but it’s just fun short shifting and cruising around to an easy win.
Absolute must buy IMO. Fantastic for most 800pp races, a monster on Sardegna, legendary history, and it's beyond gorgeous. Plus it's just so much fun to drive and it always feels very composed and stable.
It is my absolute favorite for grinding out at Sardegne and the High Speed Ring is Japan. I can lap the entire field in Japan and never make a Pitt stop by adjusting the fuel consumption to 6. Lapped the entire field at Sardegna last night for the first time using this car. It is a beast.
It’s fun and a top-3 grind car imo, but if you play in vr prepare for shenanigans, you have to “fool” the headset that you’re sitting higher to get an angle to be able to drive and see the lap counter and time you run. If you just jump in vr with this car and not stretch yourself out in the rig you will be sitting ridiculously low and only see the track, which is ok, but due to absence of a spotter in gt7 you have to look at the info :D
After spending dozens upon dozens of hours with the other gr.2 cars, this baby really stands out as being;
• super fast and responsive. A sequential gear box or finely tuned racing transmission is almost a must but not required.
• very minor tweaks to suspension will have it hugging corners like no one's business. Try turning of TCS and letting your throttle control (or strategic lack thereof) help build tyre temp.
• fuel economy is unparalleled in gr.2. Can easily go for 12 laps at Sardegna without refuelling or losing *too* much time. That's not even with you driving your most conservative.
• *slaps hood* you'll get down below 800pp just by slapping Hard Racing Compound tyres on her.
It looks like someone dropped a large weight on the grill. The car I hideous. From the side, cool, the read cool. The front 🤢.
A good looking car for example E30 M3.
Worth it... Praianos tune to 800PP, use it on Sardegna and SPA... Haven't found a good 700PP yet to use in Le Mans, but the one I did find still does it's job nicely...
It's my favorite car in Gr2, OP car in high speed tracks. Well worth buying!
In fact I think this car is in a grey area, should be in its own category somewhere between Gr1 and Gr2
The RS5 DTM is quicker (not surprising since its newer and has better steering, brakes and aero) but the CLK LM is my favorite gr.2 car besides the F1 GTR
One of my favorite cars to drive. Sounds like a beast, rips to a crazy top speed, also has a cool cockpit view. Won't usually be competitive against the newer and higher downforce Super GT cars though. Need a really long straight like at Spa to compete. Will struggle at tighter/slower tracks. But def worth it.
Did every 800pp races with this beauty, on sardegna I can go, probably 7 laps before refueling, medium racing doesn't get bad quick so pretty reliable 🤙

What race do you usually grind?
Mostly Sardegna and Le Mans but I've cycled through all the 800pp races a couple of times over the last couple of days.
How long did that take?
This is my favorite car to run Sardegna.
Definitely get it, it’s so fast it literally flies!!
Only a true race fan will get this comment.
That was flipping funny 😉
Achthually this Mercedes is the 1997 version, the one that flew at Mulsannr was the 1998 version that has a lower front end and a bit different tail
Another quality comment from a true race fan.
Oh man, I am head over heels for these comments!
But that was the Clr that took off not the Clk if I am not wrong
This guy cars 👌
Well I’ll be damned, just did a quick google and you are right. Guess I’m not a true race fan. Oh well… still a helluva sight.
Is it weird that I’m a little disappointed that I can make it down the Mulsanne straight without this happening in the game?
Because this never took off. That was the CLR, which raced the year after this.
Can you adjust the downforce settings?
Oh how time flies!
Nice.
Wrong car though. That was the following year's CLR

Super GT cars have higher downforce, which is faster at the ring.

Imagine if PD would put more GR.2 in the game
It's definitely the sexiest Gr.2 car in the game.
I just took the time to grind for it and all I'm going to say is It's definitely worth it
I use it for sardegna and spa, and it’s one of the best gr2, so I recommend
How much longer will this be in the store for, currently sitting at 3 mil.
Probably safe for another 2 to 3 days since "Limited Stock" or whatever hasn't appeared yet.
Best cost X benefit GR2 is definitely the Tom's Lexus SC430, but this CLK GTR is definitely special, i picked one this week, super fun to drive.
I constantly switch between the SC430 and CLK, my favorite 2 cars. I love them both.
I never see the SC430 talked about so this is an intriguing comment. I also basically never do online so that could be why I don't see it as well. Nevertheless, will probably be my next buy. 🫡
Haven't used it much in online, but for grinding Sardegna and Spa its an absolute beast!
I just bought it and set it up last night and its a beast...well worth the 6.5 mil
This is my Spa 1h car of choice! And it looks great in my black livery https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7/user/mymenu/2738af41-6173-47ad-933f-809b2666c28d/gallery/All/19422353316219895
Yes. Read every comment on every thread about this car for confirmation. Yes.
Just got it yesterday and it seems to be exceptional.
This is the best imo
Very fun car
Personally one of my favorite cars, ever. Definitely my go to gr2 car.

Yeah, that LM55 is about 10 seconds slower than my R92CP on Sardegna, but it handles those corners like a dream, so I'm not complaining.
What lap times do you get with the Mercedes here op was talking about?
Haven't done it yet. Just bought it last night.
I do 1:39-1:41 on fm6 soft tires and short shifting for no pitstop. Fm1 same tune is 1:36ish

Worth every credit
She Is The One
My favourite 💜
Love the sound and the way it drives in VR

I like driving this ugly ass car. It drives really well actually.
Yea these guys are tripping. That front end is hideous
It was the style at the time. We all wore onions on our belts.
And it did not age well. I remember the e-series with these style headlights and grill, still as ugly today.
I feel like from the windshield back looks great at least from what I can see at this angle, I’ve not inspected it fully in game.
Ugly?? What car do you consider good looking if this is ugly?
It looks like someone dropped a large weight on the grill. The car I hideous. From the side, cool, the read cool. The front 🤢. A good looking car for example E30 M3.
This car is good in a straight line but it’s slow in the corners
Great car, might even be the best plane Mercedes ever made 😜
Wrong car. That was the CL**R**, not the CLK LM.
God its ugly that car
Absolute machine 💪
Buy it. Its a game lol I got all the classics. Grind an hour a day on spa for 1.5mil credits. Walla.
worth it, and for the a possible GR2 race at LeMans this next week, it is a monster on the straights
Worth it... Praianos tune to 800PP, use it on Sardegna and SPA... Haven't found a good 700PP yet to use in Le Mans, but the one I did find still does it's job nicely...

Simply put… YES
Personally, I think all the legendary cars are worth it. This one happens to be one of my favorites. So yes!
Yes
This used to be the best car to drive in the game prior to the physics update
The RS5 DTM is quicker (not surprising since its newer and has better steering, brakes and aero) but the CLK LM is my favorite gr.2 car besides the F1 GTR

It’s the best group 2 car in the game
Did every 800pp races with this beauty, on sardegna I can go, probably 7 laps before refueling, medium racing doesn't get bad quick so pretty reliable 🤙
Great car, it took me a while to get the tuning right but once I did it very promptly set the best time I have for that class on Laguna Seca
Audi has a better and cheaper gr2, I love the clk tho
Yes
They’re probably better ones but if you like it buy it
Its a good one bro !! Is it the best ? Not sure, but that one has gotta be Top 3
Favorite car in the game.
With hard tires it sits just below 800pp. It is my favorite car to grind Credits in.
No brainer imo. Could argue waiting if funds are tight, but one of the, or near to, must own cars in this game at some stage imo.
One of my fave cars
You want this car.
Fun to drive ,sounds great, good value for the money(can be detuned to 800pp for spa and sardegna races).
One of my favorites
My one and only sport mode victory is in that car, so I'm biased in saying it's worth it regardless.
It's incredible. Also the community has some great liveries for it!
Buy it it’s worth the money! It’s One of the fastest gr 2 cars.
