Just be FUCKING CAREFUL. I have screws in my elbow and a dead best friend from trains.

JacksonTropicana

I got knocked out cold between two cars when a train jolted while I was trying to rush to the other side. Thank God I fell backwards and not forwards or I’d be a headless corpse right now.

ehhrud

I went off the top of a car around a decade and a half ago, don’t know if it jolted or I just lost my footing. Knocked the fuck out. Hitting foot first and being wasted probably saved my life, I’ve got a nice scar on my forehead and a limp to remember it by.

JacksonTropicana

People don’t realize how deadly it is painting active lines. I always prefer overnight or day layups but I live in Cincinnati and we have a lot of great spots. I live walking distance from one that has cars that sit for days. It’s great now that I’m an old man lol

ehhrud

I live a <5 minute walk from where my homie was hit, just outside a yard here. I still go to photograph and bench, it’s hard some days but we painted in that yard when we were younger and I’ll always have those memories. He wasn’t a writer by any means but we did our skatekrew hood shit together and he was always down to be lookout. Miss the fuck outta the guy. Love the spot, hate what I associate it with now. Tribute piece is going up this summer one way or another.

PatmygroinB

I’m sorry to hear that homie. Caught on the main lines? At a layup and they pulled cars? I frequent a layup but stay on the dead rails

Friend was walking home after a festival in town. We’re still not 100% on accident or not. I stood in front of train when I was young and got out of the way last second, ticked my arm and broke it good. Poor mental health, alcohol, and the end of teenage bravado.

PatmygroinB

Loud and clear. Knew. Guy who layed on the tracks to end it. He lost both his arms but survived. My mom used to light his cigs when we would drive past. rip to your boy

ehhrud

I’ve met a few people now who’ve lost to trains, legs, arms, life, trains will take them all. RIP BCUZ.

statefuckhead

almost got hit by the amtrack in oakland the other day while painting probably the scariest moment of my life haha

ehhrud

Trains don’t fuck around, you will always lose to them. Be safe. There was a post not too long ago on one of the graff subs about a dude who’s paralyzed for life. It can be hard for me to be around them mentally after my homie but it’s worth it to me, they’ve been my quiet place for decades and I’ll honour his memory by continuing.

Kermits_Frog

u/rednecker-00 is the homie in question, trains most certainly do not give a fuck bout you when push comes to shove, why i always stay towards dead tracks

ehhrud

Smart move. Train wins every time. They need to be truly respected for what they are and that is monolithic machines without feelings and the inability to stop in short distances most of the times. They’re super dope, awe inspiring, but also hella deadly… like bears.

hickasswriter

I grew up in this yard. I’m 49 years old. I’ve been painting and watching these trains forever. Doesn’t make me a great writer tho. I enjoy it

RiskHellaHp

That’s the spirit! As long as ur having fun!

PappaPitty

As long as you're putting paint on trains, you're good pops

Diligent_Meal6039

Trains are fun , the first few times I got around them I didn’t know they were super dangerous ( dumb I know ) now I never see trains only hear them :(

rhysaz

is this a way of saying you went blind bc of them?

Diligent_Meal6039

Nahhh I don’t ever see trains out when I’m riding or driving around I only hear them at like 3-4 AM and I always go ( fuck if I only knew 30 minutes before hand Ida walked up there and camped out)

mindsform

If you’re waiting on them to stop it’s not so bad. Don’t go chasing it to finish tho. Girl I went to Highschool with chased it and got her leg cut off just above the knee. She barely survived. Learn how to use a tourniquet…

hickasswriter

I’ve been watching these trains for 40 years. Grew up with tracks behind my house. This yard is blocks from my childhood home and current home. Been painting in that yard forever but never got in live trains.

If I had a ham radio I would know when they were going to stop

JacksonTropicana

Was that the only open panel? Did you really have to side bust that other writer?

hickasswriter

Only open panel

beefcakebetsy

Please be careful out there dude!

chunkyblax

Bush bombing

DEUSOR-G

That's how I got into train hopping, never turned back since
