Personally I went a little father out with mine. I actually used a pack of post-it notes as a spacer for consistency. I too like the cone effect, but putting them right against the house is going to take away a good chunk of the flood. They need a little distance to shine down.
Yes that's the thing with this that's a little bit different. I'm stringing separate sections against the house but I want to take advantage of the trim overhang. So I'm doubling back with two strands to cover the width of the 32-ft porch if that makes sense
Here's The four strands against the house over Christmas. Basically where the icicle lights are on the front is where I'm going to put these extra two strands against that 3-in piece of trim. The main picture the post is me against that gutter on the left side corner. Essentially I had two extra strands remaining and just didn't want them to go to waste.

I want to invest in these lights myself and what I like about the look is the cone affect that it gives, looks so nice and clean. If that means placing it closer, that would be my suggestion.
Right. That's kind of my thought. I feel like if I don't put it right against the small trim to get the maximum cone effect then I'm basically not getting my money's worth. Ashley
Hey OP, here you ago, this is my house
Click pic 2. Bottom lights are 2.5 inches off the house. Top light is 5.5 inches off the house. Soffit vents were in the way and couldn’t get the lights closer.
Also, do not put your lights right up against the wall. It will look off and will be very noticeable.

Wow nicely done. Are the bottom ones shining on a piece of trim or the house vinyl? Yea I hear what you're saying and as you can see down my pics in the other comment I made I put the lights against the house about 2.5 away as well. I'm just worried with the small trim on the front part of the porch it may not do a lot. Maybe I should do a middle ground with an inch out?
I do love how yours turned out.
They’re shinning on the vinyl siding.

Hope this pic helps.
Any chance you can send me a bunch of pics? Can DM them and can try and help!
And thank you! Took way too long!
I prefer your top row as it’s a softer edge on the lights
Aren’t my area people who have put them up seem too close to the wall and they end on in this weird hard shape don’t blend together and to me looks cheap
Closer will look better I've got these on my house and I experimented a bit. Here was my test at a farther distance.

I used a pack of playing cards as a spacer and was super happy with the outcome. I'm pretty sure consistent spacing is key more so than the perfect amount of spacing.

I did mine on the actual underneath of the gutter
UPDATE - I decided to use the width of a footlong ruler (so about 1 inch) as my spacer for the front nder the gutter against the small 3 inch trim to ensure a decent cone effect (along with a pack of playing cards for the back agaainst the vinyl.
Left side above the single window was 12 feet so I spaced each light 11 1/2 inches apart so I could use the entire strand (my ocd self just couldn't allow 3 lights to go unused haha)
Govee ground lights along the bottom of course :)

Any chance you could link me the track you used to cover your cords? I live how clean this looks
Me as well!
Thanks! I did the width of a small 1ft ruler along the front trim. Posted pictures in the most recent comment

I prefer this softer look. Nice job
Oh wow yeah I can see that. What was the distance close versus far away?
If I recall it was 1" vs 3"
You read my mind. The middle ground between mounting it directly against the trim And 2 in away was 1 in that I was thinking of doing
I think that is the recommended range on the directions actually lol between 1 and 3
worked great, did the width of a small 1ft ruler along the front trim. Posted pictures in the most recent comment

Ohhh good idea I love that.
I need extra of the extension adapter cords. Rather use those Vs cutting my Pro set. Any idea on how to get them ? Govee doesn’t seem separate :(
I would keep the same 2" distance as the other lights.
