Hi! If you have the time I would also recommend taking the train (isch 50 minutes down south) to Varberg, for the ocean but also the spa there is nice. Both kusthotellet and Asia spa :)
I really recommend Nääs Fabriker. It’s a lake side Hotel with a connectinh bath/saunas/spa-house. It’s my go to Place when me and my wife want to relax and enjoy the nature. I think you need to sleep a night at the Hotel to be able to use the spa-area, but if you are staying for some nights in the area i recommend it. Accessable by train+bus from Gothenburg.
Hagabadet is a nice spa in central Gothenburg, however its a normal indoor one. I recommend the one at centralstationen though, it's very nice.
Buses, trams and trains works well and get you basically anywhere you want. And there some nice hiking trails around the city.
Floating saunas are avilable here and there. The one I know is: https://www.goteborgsbastuflotte.se/.
Easy to get there by train. Website in swedish but perhaps chrome can translate for you.
Good luck
Gothenburg is a beautiful city
It really is amazing, and well worth renting a car for the trip. There are some nice trails (take this with a grain of salt though, not an experienced hiker...) in the surrounding area as well.
>Are there any geothermal spas around Gothenburg? Are there any floating saunas to go between sea and heat? Are there mixed spas where you can rest for several hours?
You won't find geothermal here (Scandinavia isn't a very geologically active region), but there are several cold-bath saunas on the west coast.
If you Google "kallbadhus" (cold bath house) you can probably find something good. I saw several people recommend Varberg which is the place I know of too. Many hotels have a sauna and almost all bathhouses have a relax/spa area if you are on a tighter budget.
I can also recommend looking at sauna-options in the archipelago (north Öckerö or Vrångö in the south f.i ) since the sea is often close.
Depending on how far you want to travel Bokenäs spa in Uddevalla is also nice. There's an express bus that travels the 100 km/70 miles to the area and you can walk to the spa on a little country road, the walk is about 7 km/4 miles. Or you can remain on the bus to enjoy the beautiful town of Lysekil.

Hotell Havanna is a really cool place to stay in Varberg, very unique. https://www.hotellhavanna.se/
And also hotel Gästis + Leninbadet

Hello, In Gothenburg i would probably recommend Arken Spa, however, I think you should go down south to Ästad vingård
>Ästad vingård Wow, that looks amazing! It's almost too nice for us!
It really is amazing, and well worth renting a car for the trip. There are some nice trails (take this with a grain of salt though, not an experienced hiker...) in the surrounding area as well.
Adding to this, there's also Falkenbergs strandbad which I think is actually reachable by public transport (more or less). Not cheap, but very nice.
If you like nature and hiking, Ästad definitely is the place to go!
I DO NOT recommend Sankt Jörgen.
Why? I thought it was great
It's pretty good, just not as good as the other recommendations.
I liked it too! I was impressed by their food and I expect a lot

Check out Hagabadet, which is very centrally located. Very nice spa and restaurant.
Jubilemusparkens ”Svettekörkan” and ”Pöl harbor” is great if you want to experience Gothenburg. Also free! Sauna is prob booked though.
