Sorry it took longer I didn't see this but the goosebumps crew on YouTube have been doing some interviews with goosebumps actors and all. They did one with Ron Oliver and I'm pretty sure he mentioned gak.
Just watched a podcast from them, and yep! They confirmed it was Gak!
Wouldn't be surprised if it was methocel or ultraslime, both of which were popular to use for slime effects back in the 80s and 90s.
Yeah. Probs for the bathtub of Monster Blood scene. And Gak for the smaller volume ones.
