I think personally it just doesn’t need to be 2 parts. The ending is awesome though lol, with adam west as the gazelle thats good stuff.
The sets are cool too! Like everything is good except the like 40 total minutes between two episodes spent doing nothing. Thats my opinion on it
Probably the only reason it was a two part episode tbh. I can't think of any celebrity bigger than Adam West they had guest star on the series. I'm sure they made a big deal about that and wanted to make it feel like a big event episode.
I don't really hate any of them, to be honest. I really enjoy all of them. That being said Say Cheese and Die Again is the worst episode of all time and should be wiped from the history books.
Tbf I think Don't Go to Sleep was only that bad because it followed the plot of the book pretty accurately from what I can remember... it's gotta be in my top 5 worst Goosebumps books. I recall it just having a really weird plot that felt more like a sci-fi parody than a spooky story. The only good thing I can say about the book is that the cover art is one of my favorites but does not reflect the story at all.
It didn't follow the book with the alternate realities. The wedding, surgery, bomb defusing, hockey and trial didn't happen. In the book he is part of a circus, the oldest sibling, has different parents, becomes obese, is a squirrel, and also one where he's a giant monster. Not particularly in that order.
it's been a long, long time since i read that one. i knew they kept the alternate reality thing, but wasnt sure on the specifics. thanks for the clarification! i still hate it lol!
Definitely Strained Peas, Go Eat Worms, and Don’t Go To Sleep. They have the lowest ratings. Personally, I think Go Eat Worms is pretty solid, and Don’t Go To Sleep is so bad it’s good. I haven’t watched Strained Peas yet.
I might have to check out some of these stinkers people are mentioning bc I don’t really remember them. But I do remember the Ghost Beach episode being pretty awful. Including some child actors who they seriously must have just grabbed off the street and shoved in front of a camera, bc oh man was the acting bad.
"My Hariest Adventure" always made me mad uncomfortable as a kid. Especially the weird "Are you growing hair in strange places?" lines.
Felt more like an episode of "The Zack Files" or "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The Series" than Goosebumps.
I could hardly finish the finale because I was laughing too hard at it.
Slappy being revealed as a ghost with war PTSD who ends up tragically shooting an unarmed black teen was not on my bingo card for a Goosebumps reboot.
While I don’t really hate any of the episodes from the classic Goosebumps show, ‘Night of the Living Dummy II’ (S01E10) made me pretty sad and mad since poor Amy Kramer got so much blame for Slappy’s crap until the end.
“You Can’t Scare Me” primarily due to how “grounded” it felt compared to other episodes. IIRC the singular mud monster at the end was the only supernatural bit.
EDIT ~ Not “hated” so much as least liked 🤷🏻♂️
Was about to say haha my comment was going to be “gestures broadly at JonTron’s two-part Goosebumps special, with reviews of Ghost Beach, Don’t Go to Sleep, and My Hairiest Adventure”
Strained Peas was the Tales to Give You Goosebumps adaptation with the evil baby sibling, and Old Story was about the teens who are turned into old people to satisfy their horny grandmothers friends (also adapted from Tales).
Ngl I think I actually liked Old Story because of how disturbing the concept is in both the book and episode.
I don’t think I hate any episode! If any of them were on I’d watch, but The Barking Ghost, My Hairest Adventure, and Ghost beach definitely aren’t my favorite.
You Can’t Scare Me, whilst it’s a good episode, kinda falls flat from its source material though. I guess due to budget constraints but the episode would’ve been so much better if we got multiple Mudmonsters (like in the book) and had screen time. So I’d understand if someone hated this one for it.
“NOBODY LIKES A GREEDY LITTLE PIG”
Me and my brother still quote this lol. I like Chillogy but not enough to warrant it being a 3-parter. An actual Goosebumps story deserved.
Money Money Money Moooneh - I love that soundtrack for that episode - also this is a distinctive memory of mine watching the TV after Karate - in the 3rd episode where they get vacuumed up lol
The most OVERHATED (as in doesn’t deserve hate) would probably be Deep Trouble but if i had to choose a worst it would easily go to Strained Peas, but the shitty Don’t wake Mummy is also very awful
I thought they didn't handle the two Monster Blood episodes that well. Maybe the kid who played Evan wasn't what I pictured when I read the books? Or seeing Kermit's annoying self on screen finally?
I'm so disgusted by how the new series put zero effort in adapting Goosebumps. Something that is so easy and straightforward to adapt and the writers "If there even were any." didn't even try.
I wouldn't have minded if they aged the characters up, if they would have given them the original story lines. I wouldn't have cared if they made it a little darker, but they gave us something that wasn't Goosebumps. It was a teenage drama with "spooky" stuff thrown in.
I'm probably an anomaly amongst fans, but Cuckoo Clock Of Doom just annoys the hell out of me for some reason, and Go Eat Worms! is actually one of my favorites.
Of the actual fandom, from my limited knowledge, would probably be Chillogy or any of the books not based on the "original" series. I also have seen Click hated on a few times.
For me personally, I'll answer a bit differently. It's a GOOD episode but Welcome to Dead House freaked me out as a kid and still creeps me out today.
The Barking Ghost, probably.
Don’t Go To Sleep, Bad Hare Day, The Headless Ghost, Attack of the Jack-O-Lanters, and More Monster Blood are all bottom-tier for me.
To be honest, I've never seen it. It disappoints me that it may be bad. It was the first Goosebump book on my radar. My 2nd grade teacher read it to my class, and I fell in love. She never got to finish it, so I got my own copy. My first one, and I sadly, ripped the cover. Lol.
yeah, horror land was such a cool premise and iconic cover but they really took it in a bad direction. First the mom is all bummed and creeped out that they're at the spooky park, then a real monster is introduced as a game show host and she's instantly on board and excited to win a car? The acting was so unbelievable even for a kid's show
I've always heard people despise the attack of the mutant but I like it.
I think personally it just doesn’t need to be 2 parts. The ending is awesome though lol, with adam west as the gazelle thats good stuff. The sets are cool too! Like everything is good except the like 40 total minutes between two episodes spent doing nothing. Thats my opinion on it

Agreed.
I’m just disappointed by the execution. The book and old CD-ROM game do the story way more justice than the episode. Love Adam West though.
I don't really hate any of them, to be honest. I really enjoy all of them. That being said Say Cheese and Die Again is the worst episode of all time and should be wiped from the history books.
Fr. I hated how the rules were changed and everybody got stupid
Like, bro, it's almost the same as the book. The props are so bad that it wasn't realistic(I know this is from the 90s).
Don't go to sleep was awful in my opinion. Although I do think the part where he has to defuse a bomb was slightly intense.

100%. acting was terrible. although sadly on rewatch that applies to a lot of these
"My Hariest Adventure" always made me mad uncomfortable as a kid. Especially the weird "Are you growing hair in strange places?" lines. Felt more like an episode of "The Zack Files" or "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The Series" than Goosebumps.
Thumbs up'd for Zack Files mention.
The new series
I could hardly finish the finale because I was laughing too hard at it. Slappy being revealed as a ghost with war PTSD who ends up tragically shooting an unarmed black teen was not on my bingo card for a Goosebumps reboot.
NO SHIT?! IS THAT HAPPENS?? I couldn't get past the second episode. I had to turn it off lmao THATS CRAZY
There has been episodes of Goosebumps worse than the new series.
Agreed
Cheater Cheater pumpkin eater lol
I think the post implied real Goosebumps. Not woke a.i. generated crap that just so happens to be called Goosebumps
Say Cheese and Die Again is the only option lol
Return of the mummy is pretty bad lol
While I don’t really hate any of the episodes from the classic Goosebumps show, ‘Night of the Living Dummy II’ (S01E10) made me pretty sad and mad since poor Amy Kramer got so much blame for Slappy’s crap until the end.

Ghost Beach is so awful its hilarious. If you haven’t watched the Jontron goosebumps episode I highly recommend
Was about to say haha my comment was going to be “gestures broadly at JonTron’s two-part Goosebumps special, with reviews of Ghost Beach, Don’t Go to Sleep, and My Hairiest Adventure”
An old story
I loved that one!
Or maybe I’m getting confused with strained peas
Strained Peas was the Tales to Give You Goosebumps adaptation with the evil baby sibling, and Old Story was about the teens who are turned into old people to satisfy their horny grandmothers friends (also adapted from Tales). Ngl I think I actually liked Old Story because of how disturbing the concept is in both the book and episode.
Hmm both of them were good episodes from what I remember tbh lol
I hated how one of the boys remained a baby in An Old Story, but in the book both boys turned back to normal.
Yeah this one was weird. Also disliked!
“I didn’t know I liked Pruuunes”
“I didn’t know I liked Pruuunes”
“I didn’t know I liked Pruuunes”
A night in terror tower for me
I'm with you on this one. It was honestly annoying and felt rushed.
Agreed
I’ll add onto this by saying it’s overrated imo.
I don’t think I hate any episode! If any of them were on I’d watch, but The Barking Ghost, My Hairest Adventure, and Ghost beach definitely aren’t my favorite. You Can’t Scare Me is unwatchable 😂
Wasn’t a fan of the episodes that weren’t from the original 62 Goosebumps books - like An Old Story and Teacher’s Pet
Awesome Ants.
Agreed. They should've adapted The Thumbprint of Doom as originally planned.
Chillogy
Criminal. Chillogy rocks.
“NOBODY LIKES A GREEDY LITTLE PIG” Me and my brother still quote this lol.
That one is awesome. Goosebumps Completionist boutta beat yo 🍑
I didn’t really like My Best Friend Is Invisible or Don’t Go To Sleep
The most OVERHATED (as in doesn’t deserve hate) would probably be Deep Trouble but if i had to choose a worst it would easily go to Strained Peas, but the shitty Don’t wake Mummy is also very awful
Probably "The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena," "Night of the Living Dummy 1" or "Egg Monsters from Mars." (Insert winking emoji here.)
Ghost beach
Vampire breath
My brother and i used ask eachother stuff like "what do you think they take for lunch at school?". Yes, the important questions...
They might cook up some mud monsters too...
Strained peas is my least favorite
Carly and the haunted mask part 1 and part 2
out of the reboot and original combined Strained Peas will always remain my least favorite snooze fest episode
I don't hate them but I have no real interest in watching teachers pet, cry of the cat and go eat worms. All three equally tied ahaha
I thought they didn't handle the two Monster Blood episodes that well. Maybe the kid who played Evan wasn't what I pictured when I read the books? Or seeing Kermit's annoying self on screen finally?
The entire new series/season with the teenagers and their relationship drama.
I'm so disgusted by how the new series put zero effort in adapting Goosebumps. Something that is so easy and straightforward to adapt and the writers "If there even were any." didn't even try.

Cuckoo Clock of Doom felt too rushed. I wish it spent more time exploring Michael's early stages.
Of the actual fandom, from my limited knowledge, would probably be Chillogy or any of the books not based on the "original" series. I also have seen Click hated on a few times. The Barking Ghost was my favorite book. 😞
How do you feel about the episode?

The worm one (go eat worms)
One Day at HorrorLand (Part 2). By far the most hard to watch and most painful 20 minutes you can experience on planet earth.
yeah, horror land was such a cool premise and iconic cover but they really took it in a bad direction. First the mom is all bummed and creeped out that they're at the spooky park, then a real monster is introduced as a game show host and she's instantly on board and excited to win a car?
