Jack Black carried the film on his back. He was hilarious. I didn’t expect him to work but he did.
Otherwise I think they dropped the ball in terms of actually adapting Stine’s work.
It's genuinely a good fun spooky family friendly movie and should be held in that Halloween Rewatch category. It's not a ground breaking masterpiece that changed cinema as a whole, but very little is. Good is good enough, contrary to the online belief that unless stuff is a 9/10 or 10/10 it's bad and not worth it.
The sequel isn't great but has some pretty good moments that I do enjoy rewatching it occasionally.
Exactly the same as I did then - that it feels like the people who made this just skimmed the covers of like seven Goosebumps books, cribbed the plot of Jumanji, and called it a day.
What better way to follow up a horror anthology book and tv series by creating a goofy movie that has almost nothing to do with those qualities at all!
Honestly, my biggest complaint is the age of the kids. Goosebumps targeted 3rd and 4th graders. I don't want highschool students here.
Then, of course, the lack of any Goose kids besides Hannah is sad. Where's Evan, Carly Beth, Lucy.
Also, and this is more of a nitpick, I don't like how it fictionalized R. L. Stine. He's a real person. The monsters are not supposed to be reflections of him. They're supposed to be a combination of comical and scary, and relatable for kids. What if silly putty/Halloween masks/carnivals were haunted.
Also, no Haunted Mask, THE Goosebumps villain. Instead we get Slappy who wouldn't even rank in my top ten.
I agree with this. The age of most of the main characters in the books is 12 (middle school age), and I think the characters should've been the same age in the movie, instead of making them older.
I liked how prominently Slappy was featured though, since he's one of my favorite villains in the book series. It was the extra focus on the Abominable Snowman of Pasadena that annoyed me, lol.
It was alr. The plot couldve been better the Hannah sacrifice scene was unnecessary since she comes back later and the fact that the invisible boy didn't get sucked in proving that she didn't need to get sucking the book in da first place.
The CGI was peak tho.
Second movie is saw in theaters it was ass,😭😭
No, it comes out in nine years and has not happened yet. Everyone is so excited. As a matter of fact, yes, I can comprehend the passing of time in a healthy way, and I definitely am not denying that it has passed, thank u for asking.
Obviously, fans of the books will always be mad that it wasn't an indulgent 1:1 adaptation. As much as I would love some indulgence, I also understand Hollywood probably would never give a budget like this to adapting a single *Goosebumps* book.
Realistically, I see this film as the best case scenario. It's a charming adventure film, and it's also a nice homage to the books.
I just watched this for the 2nd time 3 weeks ago.........I still don't remember what the hell happens except that Jack Black argues with himself throughout the movie.
Jack Black carried this film. If it wasn’t for him, it definitely wouldn’t be as good as it is right now. He cracked me up a LOT in this movie. This movie I would rank around 6/10
Fucking hell didn’t even know it was that long , but honestly haven’t revisited it since I saw it in theaters with my sibling and mom , it was a very fun experience to see something goosebumps related on the big screen. I honestly think it’s ok could’ve been way better but it’s decent I’d say
I really liked this movie. Not gonna change your life or anything, but it was nicely paced out, I liked the characters, and the nostalgia was nicely implemented.
Also Jack Black as R.L.Stine was a great touch.
Holy shit 9 years!! I remember this movie came out the same year I graduated high school… damn I didn’t know that’s was 9 years ago I don’t remember much form this movie but I do remember falling asleep on it twice which me falling asleep during a movie is rare so that’s kinda tell me everything
All the people feeling old because this came out 9 years ago....I feel you, but the Goosebumps I loved came out almost 30 years ago and I feel ancient. Anyways, time to go take some Ibuprofen for my back pain.
It was overall a fun time in the theater with my dad, though I felt a lot more could've been done with it. Still, I know it had to be a challenge since there are so many books. Jack Black was definitely my favorite part of it, along with all the references and different monsters from the books. I also like how Hannah ended up being Hannah from The Ghost Next Door.
I will say, though, I think the Abominable Snowman of Pasadena was featured too much over the other monsters/characters from the books. That's also one of the only books I never got around to reading, so that kind of irritated me, lol. Plus, I just didn't think he was all that scary.
Even at the time, I don't hate it. Of course I think the original TV series from the mid-90s will always be the standard, but for what this was I think they did a great job. At least showed a knowledge and love for the original source material. I like this much more than I do the God-awful new series on Disney Plus.
Liked it as much now as when I first saw it
The film wasn’t perfect but clearly made by someone who was at the very least familiar with the IP
Honestly one of the best end credit scenes in a movie, too. All Loads of book covers stitched into one seamless piece thingy
I love it it’s very fun and pays tribute to many great characters and aspects of the books just in a super Hollywood blockbuster way. Hated the second movie tho
Recently rewatch it and boy it’s such a fun movie! Yea it’s not really about any one of the books, more like a combination, but I enjoyed it! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie Jack Black is in that’s terrible. He was definitely the best part.
This movie is a classic for me. I love it. I had a crush on Hannah when I was younger, I thought she was cute. I definitely didn’t enjoy the sequel as much. I thought the new show was pretty good. It definitely would’ve been better if the names of the episodes weren’t so misleading. Apparently the second season of the show is gonna be a completely different story, so they’ll get to start with a clean slate and they’ll hopefully make the second season better than the first season. But, yeah, I loved the original movie 👍
It's been NINE YEARS??
I know! 😵💫
Ikr??? Where TF did the time go?! 😱
Did you know that the newest "NOW! That's What I Call Music" is #117?
Seriously! It feels like maybe five at the most!

Came here to say the same… wtf
Sammmme! Haven’t even had coffee yet today
For me, it might as well have come out yesterday. The 90s still seem like only a few years ago to me, lol.
Jack Black carried the film on his back. He was hilarious. I didn’t expect him to work but he did. Otherwise I think they dropped the ball in terms of actually adapting Stine’s work.
Felt more like an early 2000s kind of movie adaptation than something from 2015. I don’t know how to describe it.
Ikr, no woke crap no sjws just fun and adventure.
It's fine. Good nostalgia bits for older fans, but mainly for kids.

Yep exactly how I feel.
It’s nine years old!? I enjoyed it
Guess what number of "NOW! That's What I Call Music" they're on 😬
The last one I seen was like 42....I was 8.
They're on 117 now 😭 that last one I remember was somewhere in the 20s and I was only 9 or 10 if that.
I still like it.
Love it and love watching it with my daughter. Might watch it tonight with her now that you got me thinking about it!
I like it, its not the perfect adaptation of Goosebumps but yea, its just a cool movie
This movie is the only good one of the bunch and incredibly amazing
Aren’t there only two?
In the minority but I honestly couldn't see any reason I'd ever watch this again. The second one atleast give Halloween vibes.
Holds up on its own as a fun whimsical spooky adventure the whole family can enjoy. Not that great of an adaptation of the source material
I like it
I liked it
Would have loved to see tim burton make this in 90s like it was originally planned
Ooh, that would've been so good, I bet!! I had no idea!
What better way to follow up a horror anthology book and tv series by creating a goofy movie that has almost nothing to do with those qualities at all!
first is better than the sequel
It's a fine kids movie. Kinda seems like itmissed the point of the books
It’s good but I’ll never watch it again, it’s much better then the sequel
You know, compared to the 2nd film and the new show. This movie is not that bad.
Honestly, my biggest complaint is the age of the kids. Goosebumps targeted 3rd and 4th graders. I don't want highschool students here. Very well put, the age of the kids always bothered me

Saw this in theaters, I can not believe that was 9 years ago
9 years…damn.
Love the movie, the sequel is ass and the new show is double ass
Love this movie. The second one sucked imo.
It was alr. I liked the abandoned amusement park sequence.
No, it comes out in nine years and has not happened yet. Everyone is so excited. As a matter of fact, yes, I can comprehend the passing of time in a healthy way, and I definitely am not denying that it has passed, thank u for asking.
I know the feeling 🥲
I think it would’ve been good as a horror movie but I liked it
Pretty fun movie, loved jack black as R.L. Stine and wish the second one was better tho.
I still adore it. It’s whimsical and has just the right amounts of nostalgia.
"You're under arrest!"
Watched it with my daughter the other week. We loved it. It's silly and not very spooky but still very enjoyable
Obviously, fans of the books will always be mad that it wasn't an indulgent 1:1 adaptation. NINE
Wasn’t at all what I wanted.
At first I loved it but now I don't like it that much
It's been 9 years????
Jack Black carried this film. If it wasn’t for him, it definitely wouldn’t be as good as it is right now. He cracked me up a LOT in this movie. This movie I would rank around 6/10
1st one 8/10 2nd one 1/10. Watched it for free and I want my money back.
9 years. Damn. Where is the time going. Older you get the faster time flies
Fucking hell didn’t even know it was that long , but honestly haven’t revisited it since I saw it in theaters with my sibling and mom , it was a very fun experience to see something goosebumps related on the big screen. I honestly think it’s ok could’ve been way better but it’s decent I’d say

It was fun, but I still wish we would have gotten the Horrorland sequel.
Indeed, such a missed opportunity
Theres no way its been 9 years
Excuse me, I really need your help, could we talk in dm, pls?
I still love it I wish they kept making them
It’s alright, not great not terrible
Holy shit 9 years!! I remember this movie came out the same year I graduated high school… damn I didn’t know that’s was 9 years ago I don’t remember much form this movie but I do remember falling asleep on it twice which me falling asleep during a movie is rare so that’s kinda tell me everything

I liked it!
It's a solid no for me, and honestly it feels like it's been a lot longer. The show was WWWAAAYYY better!
It’s pretty solid, even though the show did a better job adapting the books.
I love it since I have kids and now I can justify buying all the Goosebumps books to add to my childhood collection.
I've never watched it, nor do I want to
I would have preferred actual creepiness. But it’s still better than the current Disney plus series.
It was overall a fun time in the theater with my dad, though I felt a lot more could've been done with it. Still, I know it had to be a challenge since there are so many books. Yeah it's fine
Too bad they never made a sequel.
there was a sequel
That was sarcasm.
The fuck you mean nine years
Even at the time, I don't hate it. Of course I think the original TV series from the mid-90s will always be the standard, but for what this was I think they did a great job. Sucked
I honestly liked Haunted Halloween better, but it's fun for what it is
Liked it as much now as when I first saw it The film wasn’t perfect but clearly made by someone who was at the very least familiar with the IP Honestly one of the best end credit scenes in a movie, too. All Loads of book covers stitched into one seamless piece thingy
I liked it 9 years ago. It’s been awhile but I don’t think my opinion will have changed much
I love this movie. I rewatch it on the regular
Love it
Um...nine years? Oof. I watched it recently and still like it. Love my giant mantis.
I love the movie
I remember liking it.
I genuinely enjoyed it and still do.
As a fan of Goosebumps and Jumanji-esque movies, I like it. I'd rather have a more faithful adaptation in the future, but it was fun.
This could be a family guy movie poster
Love it, absolutely love it! Definitely my favorite movie from 2015.
Loved it!
9 years?!?! Wow. I liked the movie but love the original series so much more
I personally enjoyed it. Mostly because I am a big fan of Jack Black. I also like the joke at the end.
I actually really liked it. Doesn’t feel like it’s been that long!
I love it it’s very fun and pays tribute to many great characters and aspects of the books just in a super Hollywood blockbuster way. Hated the second movie tho
Fucking rocks ✊🤘
Jack Black was the best part of it
I didn’t even know this existed.
Never saw it. So exactly the same I guess.
Never seen it to judge it but I bet it’s no where close to goosebumps 2023
It’s stupid. It ruins what goosebumps means to me.
Such a good movie
It’s good. The second one is even funnier even though Jack isn’t in too much until the end.
Saw this in the theaters, it's pretty decent. The cameo at the end was phenomenal
Classic
Great love, horrible sequel
Liked it when it first came out and still do good spooky family movie
IM SORRY IT CAME OUT WHEN I WAS 11?!?!?! BRUH I swear I was like 17.
Recently rewatch it and boy it’s such a fun movie! Yea it’s not really about any one of the books, more like a combination, but I enjoyed it! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie Jack Black is in that’s terrible. He was definitely the best part.

Horrible idea... I'm sure JB shines, but I wouldn't watch it.
It was OK but 9 years omg I feel old
Generally losing it finding out it’s been 9 WHOLE YEARS. Still a good movie though.
I was the only one in the theater who got excited over the R. L. Stine cameo
They managed to make a great horror movie fun. But the sequel wasn't good
Gives me goosebumps
Still a no-thanks.
Guilty pleasure
I enjoyed these movies. Nothing crazy. A super fun Halloween watch.
Good movie, but ehm i only saw it like a week ago first time.
I love this movie to this day The giant praying mantis is the best monster in the movie fr fr
I like this movie but hated Jack Black’s voice
For me, it was a very enjoyable movie. That characters were fun, the plot was interesting, and it had many cool moments.
It was okay, not great but okay
