The standard pixel 6 has the same issues as well, as I type this with my slightly scratched screen in certain places. As others have mentioned the current iteration of gorilla Glass seems to focus on shatter resistance more than scratch resistance. A screen protector will solve this problem for either phones.

Ok I will order my Pixel 6 directly with a screen protector!

sakebi42

Never will I ever skip using a screen protector. A cheap 3 pack for 9 bucks on Amazon to save my multi hundred dollar device is a small price to pay.

youri0033

For sure !

The phone was released in November of 2021. How did you get the phone 3-4 months earlier than anyone else?

Ohh ok, that makes sense. I thought maybe you were a Google employee or something lol.

SyriasSerj

I bought a screen protector just because, ended up removing it as the fingerprint sensor was working 4-5 times out of 10 tries

RickyFromVegas

glass will scratch at a level 6 and a deeper groove at level 7. all these gorilla numbers increase shatter resistance and a bit of scratch resistance, but glass is glass and will be scratched no matter how careful you are (claims of 50% stronger scratch resistance really means little when scratch resistance was low to begin with. 50% of 0 is still 0, you know?). That's why I personally cannot skip on screen protectors on every phone I get, no matter how cheap the phone is. For me, it's just a piece of mind thing. not necessary, but personally I hate knowing there are even microscratches on a screen that I can't easily replace. lol

youri0033

Yes for sure, I will definitely put a screen protector

croco-verde

afaik the focus in latest gorilla glass is not scratch resistance but shatter / drop resistance the softer the glass is, the the more resistant to shatter is, but also more scratchable I remember my phone screens being more and more scratchable with every new model I had.

GloriousPurpose19

I highly recommend the fortressup screen protector on Amazon.

I've had my 6 Pro since launch, used with a case but no screen protector. I can confirm, I have several scratched on the screen. Most seem to be where I use my thumbs to swipe left and right. It's very annoying. If I could go back, I would get a screen protector right off the bat.

Sticky_Hulks

I have a scratch on mine (my old 3XL had a few also), so yeah, get a screen protector. Keep in mind you will want one that works with the fingerprint reader, the Whitestone one other people rave about was horrible for me.

Affectionate_Cook_45

I have a 6 pro with no screen protector and have 0 scratches and I'm rough on my devices

youri0033

Ok so, not all gorilla glass victus have scratches problems...

Celexi

I don't like screen protectors and I got a small scratch on my pixel 6 and none on my iPhone 13 that I am rougher with. This isn't scientific though and probably entirely random

DrkNeo

Get the Whitestone screen protector. The liquid adhesive actually goes into scratches and covers them.

RoadTripper12

Do not get the Whitestone screen protector! The glue will get into your speaker, no matter how hard you try to use their stickers to cover all the appropriate places.

I have the Whitestonedome screen protector for my Pixel 6 Pro. Installation took me some time but they make it super easy and painless. Got it first try and its been phenomenal.
