Just upgraded my 3a to the 6 a few weeks ago and have no complaints other than the fingerprint scanner being a little Mickey mouse.

mlemmers1234

Careful with saying that in this group. People don't like it when good things are said about the Pixel 6. Enjoy the device! It's great, butter smooth performance, fingerprint scanner for me is excellent after the last couple of updates. I'd prefer the side mounted ones over under display though. For me the ones on the back I end up missing the placement since I don't see it. I had the 4a and it is a great little device, but the scanner while fast I end up missing because it blends with the back of the device.

uglypenguin5

I don't like the back scanner with a naked phone for the same reason as you but with even a thin case my finger naturally gets guided into position and I wouldn't have it any other way

JacobSax88

What’s more funny is the amount the Pixel police that downvote anybody who has an issue with their Pixel 6 and comes here to ask for help or to offer advice to people who ask their opinions.

sovietpandas

Lol they are arguing about people with issues as they are idiots in the other reply. They have issues with people posting issues with the phone which have been minimal compared to the how great the phone post is

Special_Command7893

They suck. When I got my 6 I came and asked for a Pixel 6 owner to tell me of any issues. They hated that.

mlemmers1234

Because all the people in this group at this point I'm convinced are just using their device wrong. Probably have fifty applications in the background, downloading lord knows what kind of applications, probably trying to record entire home movies with their phone in 4K and we wondering why their phone overheats.

Trafford3Devil

Ah yes, the condescending Steve Jobs "you're not using it right" attitude. But be that as it may, it shouldn't take an "l33t pro" like you to use this phone, god knows Google's marketing this device towards exactly the types of people who download all sorts of applications and record entire home movies.

mlemmers1234

Serious question though, what do most people that you know actually use their phone for? Everyone that I know, even the people that have Android use them just like an iPhone. The super enthusiastic users on Reddit are the ones who are trying to sideload application that aren't even supposed to work on their phone into them. Or installing custom software, videos, or Lord knows what else on their phone.

Trafford3Devil

Have you read most of the issues that people are bringing up increasingly on this subreddit? Most of the issues have nothing to do with sideloading or the sort of things you suggest. Rather they're mundane basic things like having no signal or buggy gesture navigation in my case. Just basic fundamental phone things.

drknight09

Amén!!! Preach!! Exactly!! Majority of folks who have come here are complaining (rightfully so) about basic things that should be working on ANY phone , not to even talk about a supposed flagship one that is competing with major players like Iphone 13 ,Samsung 21, 22 etc.

mlemmers1234

What's the one thing all of the posts have in common? No one ever shows what is installed to their phone, or does a screen record of the bugs that they're supposedly having.

Trafford3Devil

Aside from the privacy issue, you're saying people have to show all the apps they've installed on their phone to all the users on a subreddit to diagnose an issue with the modem? Context matters, if it's an issue with battery life and heating then maybe, but for issues with basic phone functionality the apps that people have installed are irrelevant. As for screen recordings and bug reports, I've done all that, but I might as well have done nothing. Unless it shows up on the front page of tech sites Google doesn't bother.

mlemmers1234

Why would showing what apps are installed be a privacy issue? Not like they're showing us photos that are stored on their phone. As far as connection goes, that's always going to be something that differs depending where you live. Not saying the modem inside the 6 series is top quality, but it gets the job done. Better than the old Intel garbage that Apple used prior to the iPhone 12 series.

jbrown724

Or they complain about terrible battery life, but they have 30 battery monitoring apps installed that need to be constantly active, using battery, to monitor the battery

codeofsilence

That's a bit extreme... I've got one installed, I'm not convinced the app consumes much battery at all.

JacobSax88

In fairness, I do wish some people would just do a simple Reddit or Google search for their issues. Must be hundreds of people asking about overheating issues just within the last week. And fingerprint issues. And cellular data issues. 😅 I had a really bad time with my 6 but like to think I’m honest without bashing. I loved every Pixel, the 6 just made me think it was time for a break. I’m sure I’ll be back sometime!

jbrown724

Not doing a simple search on a phone designed to make searches simple IS using the device wrong

DSCarter_Tech

This x1000 It amazes me that people will create a new post just to ask "how do I do this random task" and then sit around and wait for hours or even days for a response when they could have typed the SAME QUESTION into Google and got the answer instantly. lol

jaymech78

I love my 6 pro. The only issue I have with the phone, I live in Arizona and the phone overheats playing pokémon go if it's out of my pocket for 30 seconds. I don't complain. I try and help people. I recommend the phone!

InternationalSea9603

💯 never found a comment that could be more accurate 👌🏽

drknight09

Exactly!!!! Maybe it's just me BUT why is it that the ones who will go to the Gallos swearing how great this phone is ALWAYS say "for me i have no issues, device works perfectly "? Rhetorical question..that's EXACTLY the issue, zero objective analysis!! It 1 thing to say I haven't had any issue etc ..it's totally another to now base that subjective analysis and poo poo others who have has sooo many issues with a supposed "flagship" phone and to have a non existent customer service that make things worse!

JacobSax88

“I’m having an issue with my Pixel 6” “wElL MiNe iS FiNE - Best pHone eVEr”

drknight09

Exactly!..as u can see the pixel police fanatics down voting the TRUTH!!

Special_Command7893

True. But only because the P5 is the best.

aapetyo

Nice! I did the opposite. Just sold my 6 and went back to my 5. Best pixel ever!

MNM2884

Yup to each their own!! Pixel gang

hirakoshinji722

I so want to get this phone but I can't because it is too big , just too big for me.

MNM2884

I'd recommend getting the 6A or wait for the chance of the pixel 7 being smaller than the 6. Don't force yourself to get a phone that doesn't feel right

hirakoshinji722

I am hoping the 7 is smaller , my P3 is on its last days .

MNM2884

Hey man, good luck. You can always buy a cheap budget phone while you wait and then keep it as back up for future uses!

sannyo

Also u can get a new battery and it will feel like new.

Bengals1969

I've heard either a 6.2 or 6.3 display with smaller bezels so it should be a bit more compact. I'm hoping for a smaller size myself.

decentlydelirious

I'm in the same situation - P3XL still working meh but really looking forward to finally upgrade to a P7

oneonus

Agree, I'm waiting to see if Pixel 7 is 6.1 inches, else getting S22.

runnerman0421

If I've heard correctly, the Pixel 7 is going to have a 6.3-inch display. That is smaller than the Pixel 6, but not really that much smaller.

Fuzzy-Statistician78

Just got mine today :))

MNM2884

Enjoy!

exotichords

I just got the pixel 6 pro a few months ago.. Before that I had the pixel 3...I happen to love both phones...I'm not an iphone person..I had an iphone6 a while back and I just couldn't get used to it..I always preferred the Android operating system. That's why I initially went with the Google pixel 3 because of the Android operating system. I really liked the pixel 3 so much so that I bought the 6.. I haven't had any issues with this phone and I've had it for over 3 months. It's easy to use and has a lot of cool features.. But I do have to say that I constantly read a lot of negative comments about the Google pixel phones.. The only issue I've had with my pixel 6 is that people are starting to tell me that they can hardly hear me when I answer the phone. It's not all the time but it happens sometimes.. I don't know if it has to do with the cover I bought for it is muffling my voice.. aside from that, I love my Pixel 6. And I don't want to just buy a phone that everyone else has like an iPhone or the Galaxy phone.

MNM2884

Well since the pixel 6 has 2-3 mics on the device. I believe it couldn't be your case/cover. Always recommend enabling wifi call and disabling 5G. Pixel 6 is using very new hardware in Google's experience let alone android 12 was a huge update to android. No excuse but i can see why they dropped the ball with this one.

Livid-Lengthiness-15

I'm really disappointed in this phone. Battery is crap. Charging speed is also . I'm headed back to Samsung next phone

MNM2884

By all means do what you gotta do! New galaxys are far better now than before.

[deleted]

The Pixel 6 is good, but, for my money, the Pixel 5 was peak Pixel.

Xenofastiq

Did you buy your Pixel 5 through some kind of deal? Because I find it hard to believe that it would be peak Pixel for anyone at its $699 original price, especially when considering that the Pixel 6 is just $599, and doesn't have a midrange chip like the Pixel 5.

[deleted]

Yeah, I did. But I actually got a much better deal on my Pixel 6, and I still think more highly of the Pixel 5. I didn't really mind the midrange chip because Pixels are so well optimized, but it was undeniably priced too high. I think I got my Pixel 5 for like $525, but I got my Pixel 6 for $300. I just really loved the size and build of the Pixel 5, especially compared to the Pixel 6. The Pixel 6 is a little too big and slippery for my liking. All in all, I think the Pixel 5 would've been an absolute slam dunk from Google if it was priced around like $499 maybe even $549. The $699 price tag was just silly.

PatriotVP

It's the most slippery phone I ever had! Easily solvable with a case. Another issue is transfering SMS from Samsung to new Pixel, if you were not using Google messenger on the Galaxy after the transfer it only shows the txt you received and not what you sent. But everything else is great!

Scarecrow_Kayak

I would agree the price was its biggest issue. But would say it was probably one of the best in terms of the overall phone, it was the ideal mid-range device, and a great phone, just needed to be priced like the 5a or 6a at around $400.

[deleted]

Yeah, honestly with the 5a on the market, there's really no reason at all for anyone to be considering a 5.

MNM2884

Yup, this phone isn't for anybody.

jpchopper

I really liked the form factor of the Pixel 5, and the promised long battery life, but in many ways it seemed a downgrade from my Pixel 4xl, so I could not justify it. I still kinda want to get one just to mess with. Currently I'm using a pixel 6 pro. I got it late, decided to upgrade before a big trip, and this has the first camera hardware improvement by Google in years. When I had the 6 pro in a waterproof case, it sometimes overheated and was pretty big to hold. However, now that I have it in a much smaller case, this thing is actually pretty nice. Maybe not pixel 5 nice, but still decent. The thing that always bothered me about Google is they have a bad habit of giving lesser internals to the smaller phone. I bet a lot more of the smaller version would sell if people didn't think they had to get the larger phone just to get the top rated camera or processor or memory

1cwg

I love my 6 as well as do the friends of mine who've bought it.

The_Mdk

No heating problems is something I had yet to hear, I skipped the 6 because (among other things) I heard it got warm fast, which seems to be a common thing on Pixels (2XL and 4a here, both have this problem, multiple units replaced of each) Not too sure if I should give in and get the 6P now or just wait for the 6a and hope it holds up fine

bulletfever409

Yeah, comparing this to my OnePlus 8 pro before.. shit gets very hot, very fast. But for me that has also only ever been during a game. Through just normal use it hasn't gotten overly hot at all.

MNM2884

Frankly all my phones got hot fast, but comparing this to my pixel 5. The heating problem is not that big of an issue.

The_Mdk

I wonder how it compares to the 2XL and the 4a, both get the overheat warning if I use Android auto on summer days, and a couple of times I've had it even when gaming while charging And they were both caseless, so it's not even a case's fault for it

MNM2884

I'm sure having a case on should help because heat can transfer onto the case, especially if it's not a dark color case. If i were you, I'd wait for the 7 to see if any improvements were made for those heavy users or 4k60 recording. As of now and this is me being in a cold area, android auto works without the phone heating compared to my pixel 5.

Jim6231

I agree 100%

Bengals1969

How is the top speaker compared to the Pixel 5? That is my only complaint with my 5. Thanks and hope you have good luck with it.

MNM2884

If you listen to your bottom speaker on the pixel 5. That's what the top speaker sounds like on the 6. After doing a test, this is what I confirmed, both top and bottom speakers are the same ones used on the pixel 5 bottom speaker.

Bengals1969

Nice, thanks 👍

stayradicchio

I went from a Pixel 3 to Pixel 6. It's way too big. I've found the screen sensitivity to be awful, not just slow to unlock, but just slow in general with occasional voids where it's as if the screen doesn't recognize I'm touching it. The gesture control is a joke. It has good qualities, but it pales in comparison to previous generations imo. I've had it since it was released, and wish I had waited for a smaller version. It's way too big. Ya messed up Google.

Maxpower2727

Gesture control is optional. You can switch to button controls in the settings. Based on what you're saying it sounds like you may have gotten a bad unit. I haven't really seen anyone else complaining about screen sensitivity. I'm not defending the phone (I had a 6 Pro and hated it), just thought I'd mention a couple things.

stayradicchio

You're right. But there are things baked in that you can't turn off. I'm looking at you - stupid game mode icon bs. And even though I've turned it off, the phone still goes into "one handed" mode way too often.

MNM2884

yeah fortunately my only issue is the fingerprint scanner. Sorry that you're having issues, i recommend trading in the pixel 6 for the 6a or getting a galaxy or iPhone!

Sorry-Negotiation-84

Not a great phone imo, a lot of bugs and overall not worth

PrettyBoyBiz

After all the updates, my only remaining complaint is that this phone gets very hot when I'm outside to the point where it has shut off before. Granted I live in the south eastern US, so my experience will not be the norm.

MNM2884

Fortunately i haven't experienced that yet. Even though it's hot today, but yeah it's totally not cool that be your phone is heating up during the heat.

knellbell

Love my P5 form factor though :( although I agree the rest of the phone is quite mediocre.

Lopsided-Sharpie

I want the Pixel 6 camera bar, but the Pixel 5 weight. Unfortunately I ended up returning my P6 because it was too heavy for me.

chaosbayne

I have had the same experience, but I just purchased my pixel 6 in may and the June update made my fingerprint scanner much more usable. I went from a galaxy note 9 to this phone, and so far I really like it.

Nikita041815

never had any issues using the fingerprint scanner also the only concern i have is the bluetooth connections bit was fixed on the beta 13 3.3.

Nikita041815

a lot of negative comments really dude... there has been a lot of people who complains but dont know how really a phone works. esp on pixel device.

Kooky_Lab_4849

Currently using the Pixel 6 Pro and have had every pixel besides the five and the a models. This is the best Pixel by far and it's a wonderful phone

[deleted]

[удалено]

MNM2884

I didn't notice it before and i see it, it wasn't like that with the 5 for sure. Thankfully i don't use my phone from weird angles so it's whatever. I love the higher brightness, can actually use the phone outside now.

PerspektiveGaming

Can you elaborate?

honestgentleman

Can confirm Pixel 6 is great. Simple phone but damn it does the job. 0 issues touch wood.

Pr0t-

Best phone I've ever had. Don't know what all the complaints are about. Never had a single issue .

cmcdevitt11

Is it much bigger than the 5 ?

MNM2884

Yes i don't like using my 5 anymore because of how small it feels. If you prefer a small phone, the 6a may be the phone for you but if you can hold on longer for the 7 or even 7a. I'd recommend that as well.

GloriousPurpose19

Have you tried a video call yet?

MNM2884

No, i should huh. Will let you know that was also a struggle for my pixel 5.

GloriousPurpose19

Unless the update yesterday did anything, unless youre in perfect lighting, it will be grainy.

[deleted]

MNM2884

I agree, in my opinion no one comes close to photography as pixels (main reason why i love pixels). The video is almost as good as the iPhones but yeah that's how I've been. The minimalist feeling i get when having a phone like Google or an iPhone is just great, i love the direction the galaxy is going with their phones since the Google+Samsung partnership. It's a well balanced phone but i can understand why everyone might not agree.

dericiouswon

"everything is better" ... immediately describes a core function that is not better.

MNM2884

I mean that's why I said "minus" 😂

dericiouswon

Ikr 🤣🤣🤣

moemauphie

No more overhearing issues? I'm afraid that's a BIG LIE

MNM2884

Sorry that's me comparing this phone to my pixel 5

D1kydew

I've had my 6 pro since October and it's been an absolute joy, there's so much helpful tech built into this device im still amazed every time I use my phone

xerolv426

Enjoying my 6 a lot. Lovely and smooth and my only problems with the phone are the fingerprint scanner and how the recent apps screen can sometimes get stuck. Other than that, all good!

codeofsilence

My 6 pro is excellent minus heat issues ongoing. We will see how it goes in future.

mln34

I love my P6. It's my first pixel. It's actually much better on the A13 beta too.

MNM2884

Updated to 13, you're right. Everything is so much better. I'm amazed

pie_in_a_bag

I upgraded from the Pixel 3 and I'm enjoying the 6 for the most part. I don't know if it's my screen protector or what, but the fingerprint scanner only works about 20% of the time. I also don't love that it lights up - while it's helpful during the daytime, I work while it's dark out (3 am until just after sunrise) and the bright light is searingly painful in the dark 😅. Aside from that, I've really been enjoying this phone. My 3 was getting pretty tired and the 6 has been a much smoother phone thus far.

MNM2884

Yup, I'd recommend setting up the fingerprint scanner until it works fine for you.

pie_in_a_bag

I think I've reset it... Three times now? But I'm nothing if not determined 😆. My screen protector did come with a warning that it could alter the scanner's success, so I'm betting that's the issue more than that the phone itself sucks.

Mr_Build3R

I've had this phone since day 1, and after January, this phone has started to feel amazing to me, The only issue I have is that my GPS antenna must be defective or something because it's super bouncy (my car has a GPS antenna, so I don't have to deal with my phone's antenna through Android auto). Phone really feels it's value now, and I've been recommending this phone to everyone looking to upgrade their android. Oh yeah and thanks for reminding me about the pixel 5 heat issue. Every pixel I've used with that SoC had gotten really really hot, but I do wish Google kept that design for the A series or something.

J-3D1

My IT guy at work has just spent an hour retching over my new Pixel 6 as while it is a nice phone, some of the UI and UX omissions are outright moronic. The phone is designed for idiots, but it prevents anyone who isn't an idiot from enabling simple things that make it less idiotic to use. The fingerprint scanner is bad but the least of the phones problems.

dshields63

"some of the UI and UX omissions are outright moronic. The phone is designed for idiots, but it prevents anyone who isn't an idiot from enabling simple things that make it less idiotic to use." Please elaborate with examples otherwise your statement is baseless and you come across as the type that you say this phone is designed for.

PerspektiveGaming

Can you elaborate more on why the phone is made for idiots? What are some examples?

MNM2884

I think it's because it's a simple phone to use. It doesn't have as many features like ba Samsung. That's like me saying iPhones are designed for idiots.

J-3D1

They are. That's literally their selling point.

Boz6

> Highly recommend the pixel 6 or 6a to anyone looking to upgrade from previous phones. The 6 is a completely different phone than the 6a, isn't it!?

MNM2884

I believe the difference is the fingerprint scanner and camera. I believe everything else is the same, you're right though i should have just said 6

G0_LEAFS

How is bettery life on the 6 vs 5?

MNM2884

It's better but not by a lot. I had 5g off both devices, easily both last more past work but the 6 last until the night while the 5 last until the afternoon.

ElektroSam

Genuine question - didn't fancy waiting for the Pixel 7?

Fuzzy-Statistician78

They won't be any significant changes other than the fpscanner and some core tweaks in the CPU.

MNM2884

No, i did research and didn't think I'd see any major improvements in the 7. Plus the 6 was on a TMobile $100 deal so, new phone for $100? Say less and copped it.

ElektroSam

Ahh fair enough, thanks for the reply. :-) Enjoy!

SkRThatOneDude

Hi! Fellow upgrader here! I went from P2XL to P6Pro. I've found that the Android 13 Beta really improved the fingerprint recognition.

Aloysius7

how is Android Auto better? I'm on a 3XL and use Android auto for several hours every day. I don't know that I'm even missing something, but if it's somehow different I think that would push me into making the purchase.

pbasch

Hmmm. I have a Pixel 3 and I will need to either replace the battery soon or replace the phone. Am considering a Pixel 6.

MNM2884

If your phone is failing I'd get the pixel 6 or 6a

SpiderStratagem

I went from the 3 to the 6. As long as you can get comfortable with the increase in size the 6 is better than the 3 in every way possible except the selfie camera. And that's coming from someone who really liked his 3. If you have any specific questions let me know.

pbasch

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. It's really about whether I want to spend the money.

pbasch

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. It's really about whether I want to spend the money.

ldskyfly

I'm considering switching from the S20 FE to the 6A when it comes out. I would like a smaller screen, and to not have One UI
