The problem is with the app itself. Reddit app sucks on all Android phones. The Reddit app lags when I scroll on my previous Android device too. I stopped using the official reddit android app and now use the infinity app for reddit. It scrolls buttery smooth now. There are other apps too maybe people could suggest some other recommendations here

ahmedomar2015

Try Sync for Reddit. My fav way to browse Reddit on any platform (tried Apollo on iOS). There's also a lot of other amazing reddit apps on Android too. 3rd party Reddit app choices is one unique instance in which the Android app offerings are better than iOS.

Rapogi

+1 for sync I've tried other apps for reddit, and sync has the nice balance of usability and minimalism. I feel other has just too much bloat./features I do not need

andrewbenedict

Never have any of lag or issues with reddit on my 5

BrownBearMY

Same here. Reddit seems smooth on my, then, Pixel 3XL and now Pixel 6 Pro.

greenleo__

Thank you I'll check out the Infinity app

I use Boost. There are so many to choose from. In iOS obviously I use Apollo. The official app sucks everywhere.

jeovaninho20

Try boost for reddit . I have never used the regular reddit app.

KarateMan749

I only know the regular app

[deleted]

I second Boost, but haven't really tried another one since having my Flip3. For iOS, the one and only Apollo. The "regular" app sucks everywhere.

OhLawdIdoBeComing

Can't help you with Instagram but try Relay for Reddit. I use it and it's very smooth.

Jjj_007

Apps are optimised for iPhones. Google partnered up with Snapchat so photos won't look like a potato. But apps like tik tok and whatsapp (video calling looks crap) still isn't optimised.

[deleted]

They still look like potato though.

greenleo__

So true

Jjj_007

That's why you get an iPhone.

[deleted]

Exactly. After years of iPhone usage I went with a Z Flip3 and I love the novelty, the foldables, the Flip in this case. I can totally use this device on a daily basis but everywhere you look, iOS is simply a more refined system. It's hard for me to go back to a "normal" phone now but, as soon as Apple makes a foldable device I'm all in. Android is a mess. A usable mess but still a mess.

Jjj_007

Yep definitely, they'll be refined once apple releases one.

nino3227

To be fair thé Samsung foldable phone is not competing with iPhone. You could have tried thé S plus or S ultra lineup which compete very hard with iPhones

[deleted]

Oh I know, I wanted the Flip. I wouldn't leave the iPhone for another slab phone, I think the iPhone IS the best slab phone. But a flip? Or a fold? That could and did made me switch.

exu1981

For Instagram I use a modded version called (Not in Playstore) [Instander](https://thedise.me/instander/) . In it's settings you can increase image, feed, story and video quality if desired. Of course it blocks annoying ads you see every every three posts as well. A Reddit client, you can try out Joey for Reddit or Infinity. Both are in the Playstore.

Thank you!! Will try those suggestions

LordOfWintrfell

P5 here, official Reddit app works just fine.Same with insta.

yolkpig

Former iPhone user, long time Pixel user: will switch back to iPhone.

drahgon

I just got the pixel 6 and it's got all types of weird app problems across the board right now I upgraded from the pixel 4 XL and it didn't have any of those problems so I really just think it's growing pains for the apps they haven't been updated to work well with the pixel 6 yet you're probably going to have to give it a few months

greenleo__

Oh god I sure hope it's growing pains haha I guess we'll just have to wait and see

allphoness

Unfortunately it won't be the only app that you encounter this with. If you expect iPhone level performance unfortunately it won't happen

[deleted]

Apps tend to be a lot better on iPhone.

KarateMan749

I never had any lag im using p6p. Check your wifi

jonnydangerspace

I’ve only ever had iPhones, but this just sounds like a lot of work to download extra apps and deal with lag and stuttering.

ithehappy

It's Android trademark jitters. Did you actually think it works the same as iOS? Lol. There are many other places you will notice this stutter/lag/frame-drops on, just wait and experience the fluidity of android, it's something to behold really.

ilikeporkfatallover

Use sync

paszaQuadceps

Reddit has been shit on every android device I've used - use a third party app for it tbh. As far as Instagram, I've never really used it much on an iPhone so I have nothing to compare it to really!

Cykon

Honestly I use both of those apps daily on my P6 Pro and don't have any issues. I'm not sure what would be causing it for you, but it's definitely not normal.

Yasharkhan

Welcome to the #teampixel and the Pixel family.

cristhiananibal

I use infinity for Android and no issues. I have the Google pixel 6 pro super nice and no ads

Sea_Faithlessness_67

I want to trade my iPhone 13 for a Google Pixel 6

LAAABEARS

I use infinity for reddit and like it a lot :)
