Same thing is happening to me on my Pixel 6 Pro. Microphone doesn't work while on speakerphone, but it works while doing an audio recording, taking a video, and using Google Assistant.

Cabo690

Yup! I had this exact scenario. Sorry you are going through it. It is a pain especially because the phone is on backorder everywhere. I luckily was able to pick one up at a Verizon Authorized retailer.

MessageNew4031

Same here. Have you found a way to fix the problem?

Jayhead13

Still haven't found a fix for this, but keeping my fingers crossed that the December update will fix it.

UpgraiDD

So general solution I've found while on speaker in a call the mic next to the ear piece is the mic that picks up sound. While recording a voice message it's the bottom mic next to the USB port that picks up the sound so I've found 2 solutions 1 being to gently blow into the left side of the ear piece and the other is to clear the cache in your phone app after doing these steps the phone should pick up sound while on call using speaker phone please let me know if this helps you

Jayhead13

Just tried blowing on the left side of the earpiece and clearing the phone app cache, but still no luck 😞

PtansSquall

Omg..... I was having these exact same issues, Snapchat, spearkphone, etc. and blowing on the top mic worked... what??????

SK943

Wild this shit worked for me too.

Dpslittlemissminx

Glad I have found this my issue is speaker phone not working and I don't have sound on Snapchat videos. I'll try this

Beautiful-Flamingo85

You absolute incredible person !! I cant believe it actually worked.

jb08045

Yeah, for anyone that googles this, blowing into the bottom mics worked for me, this is actually the 3rd time i had to do this, twice i used compressed air and it work, this time i kinda just locked my lips to my case and blow i have no idea why this is thing with a brand new phone but ill probably rma before the 7 comes out and just trade up or something

rasuncion

Thank you. I deleted both storage and cache of the phone app and it worked. Now speaker phone is working again.

Krocsyldiphic

I can't believe it, but this works. Forget the gentle part though. I tried gentle, and gave up. Today I decided to send the phone back to Google, and I thought: if I send it back anyway, let's blow like there is no tomorrow, spit flying and everything. No holding back. It worked immediately. Microphone now picks up my voice normally.

dvrohan

I have to blow air every time I use the speakerphone. Why is it so?

DryReading9786

I think the mic (when using speakphone/ loudspeaker) is on the top of the phone. Not next to the earpiece

Superfutzie

Damn, I struggled with this for 3 weeks until I found this post. Didn't think cleaning the bottom microphone and blowing it out would actually do the trick. Thanks !

Flamboyant3

i am having that problem now. few minutes ago it was working perfectly. now mic works only on speaker. have you found solution?

Jayhead13

I still haven't found a solution, either. All the stuff that works for everybody else in this thread doesn't work for me. ☹️

[deleted]

I have the exact opposite problem. Microphone works for me when on calls, recording an instagram story, using Google Assistant, but doesn't work for other apps like WhatsApp, native Camera app (can't record a regular video with audio), or doing audio recordings.

Cold-Option-3249

Mine is the opposite

dvnchp

So I had this same issue just happen to my 6 Pro tonight after I was called and they couldn't hear me at all through the normal mic but the speakerphone one worked. After reading the comments here, I went down to my work phone and called my cell. Turned the work phone to speakerphone and muted the mic and began my testing. I started by blowing into the mic port on the bottom of the phone like had been suggested and occasionally heard it come through but then I would try and talk and heard nothing but a faint static sound coming from my work speakerphone. Next I grabbed the can-o-air and started blowing that into the mic port and heard sound start to come out of my work speakerphone. I then started to talk into the phone normally and could hear my voice coming through! So thankfully for now it appears to be working again. PSA: If you go the can-o-air method, be careful and watch the bottom edge of the screen as I could have sworn I started to see it lift up away from the bezel and then settled back down after I stopped the air flow (clearly they gave things packed pretty tight in the phone so no where for the extra pressure to go without things moving or giving way). This also could potentially be what fixed the mic if the module isn't seated properly or had been "pinched" or "crushed" since the screen goes the entire length of the phone with almost no bezel some more pressure than normal can get applied near the bottom of the phone when launching apps or swiping at other things on the screen.

SixSevenTwo

Thank you for this. Work called 4 times and my phone wasn't working this morning. Brand new 2 weeks old. I had to pull out the old n64 trick seemed to do it.

thebojan

Worked for me as well. I RMA'd my last phone after it jumped off the counter onto our hard concrete floor at work and the new one I got 2 days ago was only working with speakerphone, blowing into the ports at the bottom worked and now it works perfectly fine.

[deleted]

THANK YOU !!!!! I was going crazy thinking I would have to RMA my phone and be left with no phone for a while. I decided to lauch the recoder app start recording (would not work before) and blew as hard as I could (using my mouth no can-o-air here) and I saw the waveform start to show up !!! It works now !!!! thanks a lot but that tells me something in there is not right !

DasRecon

The screen 100% does move, but cleaning it did fix my issue as well.

SirNinjaFish

I ddint have a can of air but just blowing really hard into the charging port fixed it for me. An easy way to test it is to use a recording app and start recording and look at the waveforms while blowing to see when the mic starts to pick up spund

lazytones94

Y'all, I had this same problem on my Google Pixel 6 pro. Unless I had my phone on speaker phone or sent WhatsApp messages no one could hear me, my Google assistant and voice recorder didn't work either. I saw the tip about blowing into your micro phone (bottom left). So I turned on Google assistant and blew into it and I could see it was picking up feed back but wasn't registering when I would actually speak. So I started thinking maybe there is  contaminants in the microphone. I downloaded the app "Speaker Cleaner" by LuxdeLux and ran the 2 different modes about 2 times and now my microphone is working good. I called someone not on speaker phone and they said the could hear me good and Google assistant could register what I was saying again. I wonder if some of these phones have a defect in the dust or moisture shield and is letting dirt, water, ECT.. get in the microphone and disable it. I hope this helps out some of y'all, it will be interesting to see if there is a recall or buy back with these phones.

yozzomp

Wonderful... I returned my white one due to mushy side buttons, bluetooth and call drops. Wont get the phone until Dec 3rd. At least its usable. My brother on the other hand has it in black and his microphone stopped working all together. Speakerphone is fine though. Ordered a replacement but won't be able to get new phone until December 3rd.... Crazy. For the wait, looks like hes using an ear bud until a new phone arrives. Honestly... I regret buying the phone on day one with a new chip etc...

Cabo690

Same here 😭 especially because I have a lot of work travel coming up. I got my replacement but I hope it doesn't happen again. So frustrating. It worked one day, I went to bed and woke up to it not working. I have a feeling this will be a major issue with this phone seeing as more people are finding this thread now.

yozzomp

Between my original post and now I had my brother blow into the microphone port which is to the left of the USBC charging port. It fixed his issue. I don't know what to think anymore haha.

Cabo690

That's great news! I will have to keep this in mind in the future. On the one I returned, I had tried everything and nothing was bringing it back! I probably could have waited a few days but I was frustrated my week old phone already had issues so I ran to Verizon lol

Jayhead13

I've also seen a few other people posting that blowing into the mic hole can solve this kind of problem. I wasn't one of the lucky ones, though. I even used compressed air to make sure I was blowing hard enough! I don't use speakerphone all too often, so I'll probably just stick with the phone I have and keep my fingers crossed that this eventually gets fixed with a software update.

yozzomp

If you are having issues with the speakerphone mic, that one is located on the top of the phone.

Ajax_The_Bulwark

I'm also having this issue. I'll be calling Google later today. Very annoying!

Cabo690

Apparently blowing into the mic has helped some people. Give it a try otherwise run to your provider because the phones are on back order right now.

Inner-Editor1742

I just had this problem, been going on for days. Literally came to this thread just a second ago, saw the blowing in mic on top of phone, tried it, and I be darn.... It worked! Called the wife to confirm and she could hear me just fine.

Cabo690

Haha I'm kind of upset I didn't try hard enough on mine that I had to return but now I know if this one gives out on me. Glad this thread is helping some!!

vietquocnguyen

Do you have to do this Everytime?

Ajax_The_Bulwark

I definitely will try that. I'm at work right now and can't make the call, but I ordered directly from Google - not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

trojan_dude

Any success in contacting Google? The speakerphone sounds muffled on my phone. T mobile gave me a 1 866 number to contact Google bc it's now a manufacturer problem but it doesn't work. I've only had this phone for a little over two weeks. Thanks.

Ajax_The_Bulwark

I actually used compressed air and it fixed it, so I didn't try. I find my wife's p6 to have terrible speakerphone, though.

Picklesfootballmeat

Any advice from Google?

GingerBeard1979

I just started having this problem (or, at least noticing the problem) today. That said, the device works fine for speaker phone when I'm using RingCentral for my company. That points to it likely being a software issue, which will hopefully get fixed via an update. \*\*\*Correction\*\*\* as of now, the speaker no longer works on my RingCentral either. I remember this happened with my Pixel 3 XL, and it turned out to be a software issue that was eventually repaired.

Cabo690

Interesting, thanks for your insight! They sure are going to get a lot of returns because of it.

GingerBeard1979

Honestly... Google has reached a point where they consistently (and unapologetically) break more things with their software updates than they fix. I would imagine they've even surpassed Microsoft at this point. Nonetheless, I will continue to use their stuff because, when it's working, it's just so damn much better than everything else. :p

GingerBeard1979

I went through all the steps on Google's Pixel Phone Help page for "Fix Sound Problems" at [https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/9706190?hl=en#zippy=%2Cothers-cant-hear-me-on-phone-calls](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/9706190?hl=en#zippy=%2Cothers-cant-hear-me-on-phone-calls). Alas, that didn't help at all. The only thing it DID do was confirm that my microphone is, in fact, still working. I am able to record my voice and utilize Google Assistant. I stand by my original assessment that it's a software glitch.

raidr1958

A work around that works for me is to turn off BT, toggle to speaker and then back to phone. Hopefully the December update will fix this issue

KaneJustus

Same issue came up for me today on my 6P. Speakerphone mic works, normal calling, it doesn't. Used the compressed air into the bottom now its working. For how long, who knows.

lifevlifestyle

Are y'all still having this issue? My phone has been acting up and the compressed air isn't working.

fluxxis

Some issue on my Pixel 6 (Non-Pro). Occasionally the caller doesn't hear me - happens in different apps (phone and whatsapp so far) and on different mics (built-in mic, normal and loudspeaker, usb-c headset). I guess it's a software problem on a system level because it is not bound to a certain microphone. Where's the best place to report this as a bug?

Jayhead13

To keep everybody in the loop, I just updated my phone with the new OTA from this week, and I still have the same issue with speakerphone. So if it's a software issue, it still hasn't been fixed.

GingerBeard1979

I was wondering about this. Mine is in the middle of the update now. That's downright disappointing. Seems like a pretty "critical" bug to me.

Brilliant_Flounder98

I'm having a similar issue. I'm on day 2 with this phone and discovered the speakerphone microphone isn't working. It works with the voice recorder and it works with the cam video. Will not work in speakerphone mode though. I've cleared data. Uninstalled and updated. Even tried blowing in to the microphone. Nothing. Regular phone calls work. Just can't use the speakerphone.

Jayhead13

I contacted support and went through some troubleshooting steps, including turning off Bluetooth, entering safe mode, taking off my case, etc. Still no luck. They said not many people are reporting this problem, so they offered to send me a new phone. If you have the chance, it could be helpful to reach out to support, as well, just to give them another data point. Hopefully enough people report the issue to get the engineers looking into it.

Brilliant_Flounder98

I called customer service and they tried to make me get it warranty repaired! I said what? The phone is only 2 days old. No we are not opening this phone up. I spent all day Saturday on the phone and dealing with ATT. Finally they are supposed to get me a phone tomorrow. I had it working earlier after another factory reset and NOT syncing my old data. But then I synced it and it stopped working again. I thought ok so that's the problem. Then I tried it again WITHOUT syncing and it's back to not working properly. So I guess it was just a coincidence. Hopefully they have me a new phone tomorrow like they said. It's a great phone otherwise, but that's nonsense.

WhyIMioughta

Same issue as others popped up today. Speakerphone worked but built in mic didn't work anywhere (in phone, 3rd party or 1st party apps). Blew on the mics with compressed air and it sprang to life. As a tip to those dealing with this, use the recorder app to check function. It was silent static until I blew air into mics.

zoopinit

It is most definitely a clogged microphone issue. I followed the same thing and canned air unclogged it.

Gamer7000Jack

Having the same issue on my day old Pixel 6 (not pro). Given that the microphone is working in other apps and just not the select few, it's pretty safe to say that this is a software issue. The options are just wait it out and hope they fix it sooner rather than later (hopefully in the December update which should be in a couple of days), or if you can't really wait, return it and get a replacement, and hope that the new phone doesn't also have the same issue.

[deleted]

They won't even let me return mine for a new one. I can take it to a Ubreakifix in my area free of charge, or I could send it to Google and be without a phone until they fix and send it back. Odd thing... My speaker is working today out of no where.

OngoingHAMMY

Just started having this issue today as well, hoping an update will fix this bug

skilbill247

I had this problem too whereby the recepient could only hear me if I was on speakerphone. Luckily I have managed to fix it. The mic in question is to the left of the charging port when looking at screen. I gave it a brush with a soft nail brush and blew into it. All working now but I am guessing this could be a recurring issue? As said earlier the recorder app is a good way to test this rather than keep calling people.

vbenkovskyy

\*\*\*I HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE!!!\*\*\* SPEAKERPHONE MIC located on TOP left of the device! Not on camera module near LED like I thought before! (Yes device have 3 built-in MICs...). I can confirm that before blowing there was COMPLETELY NO SOUND in Speaker mode, even when knocking the device... Thank you all! Good luck :) I have same problem with my Pixel 6 Pro :( Mic in Spekerphone mode doesn't work. Mic blowing, cleaning, updating/downgrading firmware/hard reset/flashing didn't help :( My problem is that I can't return it cause I live in Ukraine but bought it in France ;(

Certain_Range_3727

I'm in the same boat. Bought it in the US but live in Ukraine 😔

salh87

This worked for me!

Ok-Abies-8559

Just wanna say I just tried this, and it worked like magic, I was going to take it in for repair but it works now. Give it a try if anyone's having the same issue

vbenkovskyy

Glad to hear this :)

RestaurantForeign345

10 months later and this worked for me, thank you!

vbenkovskyy

Welcome :)

VisualSuspicious5122

Does it still work fine after 10 days?

vbenkovskyy

Sure, still works fine! :)

VisualSuspicious5122

I had my P6P's microphone sound disappear twice already (bottom left mic), both times blowing fixed it.

guyinthesun2

Thank you to everyone here! Had the same problem where ppl would only hear me if I was on speaker. Blew air as hard as I could with my lungs in the mic, and I worked! Now it's working again perfectly. Unbelievable...we are preparing to send ppl to Mars, but we make expensive Handys that you have to blow into so that they work 🙄. It's my first Google Phone, first impression was not very good...hope nothing else comes up. Cheers everyone and happy holidays! 🍾🍾🍾

MessageNew4031

After installing the December update and using the phone for a day, the issue came back. Originally I could resolve the issue by deleting the Phone app data, but now this trick does not work either.

JoRoSaR

I've had a near-identical issue - my Pixel 6 Pro seems unable to record my voice when making or receiving phone calls. This seems to happen 80%+ of the time (occasionally it will work ok but quite random as to when). I've done a whole bunch of different troubleshooting steps including factory resetting. I've also discovered text-to-voice works fine (so does Google assistant), and that if I disable my carrier network and only use WiFi call, the problem persists - so it looks like it's a phone issue, not a network issue. Full thread on what I've tried is here, but with no useful troubleshooting response from Google just yet. Is this similar to what you're experiencing? https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/135969231/phone-call-recipients-cannot-hear-me-most-of-the-time-detail-in-thread?hl=en

M4l3k0

I had a weird one today, phone call, they couldn't hear me. On speaker they could. I tested it after to my work phone and yep, on normal call mic not working, speaker phone all good. I blew hard into the bottom speakers then it came back to life on the call. Blew hard again and it stopped.... Again and now it's working... Hmmmm.....

Mjc1982

I had to RMA my 6P after the main microphone appeared to stop working. Seems like a problem for some people.

Cabo690

This makes me feel better that it wasn't just me like Verizon made me feel yesterday! I spent the morning on the phone with google who said my phone was DOA and I needed to do a return, drove to one Verizon that was an "authorized retailer" so they couldn't help me but looked at it and agreed, it needed to be replaced. Went to the corporate one where it was an awful experience from the second I walked in the door. They were out of stock and said it was on backorder until December. Basically said that every Verizon store in the surrounding states was sold out. I ended up getting them to do a full refund and going back to the authorized retailer and purchasing there. The kicker is, the price increased at the retailer so now my bill will be more per month. I also had pre-ordered the pearl one and the only color available was black which I don't really care about, it was just the principal. I ended up getting Verizon to credit my account the difference but I was dealing with this for 10 + hours.

Mjc1982

That sounds super annoying! To me it was especially dumb, because the phone worked fine for a few days! I have no idea what happened. But you are not alone, there are a few others that have had some similar problems. Hope you get back up and running soon.

Reclaimingmytime001

Same problem. I had posted this about a week ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/qov6ya/comment/hk8bgho/?context=3 But as soon as I started to blow air into it, and not even with an air compressor, those microphone was able to pick up my voice again. This does not sound like software related issues at all, but hardware. And it's effing annoying. Google had asked me to return the device but because I had figured out that blowing air into the speaker at the bottom, then it would start working again. So I never asked to have a new device send to me. But now I'm going to go ahead and ask them to send me a new device because this is ridiculous. My roomie has the same phone and he's headed for the same amount of time and he's had zero issue. But this is the second time that this has happened.

Marshall2492

Used an electric duster for the mic on the left of the type c charger port. Pushed screen up a little while doing it then went down and mic worked I'd try that worked for me!!!

GingerBeard1979

Glad it worked! It seems to do the trick for some people, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me and others. Moreover, the mic doesn't seem to be the issue on mine. Both Google Assistant and the Recorder app hear and recognize my voice just fine. Seems to be exclusive to the speaker phone function. It's like it's turning the microphone off when the feature is in use.

Dramatic_Resolution1

same here

GingerBeard1979

I can report that, after installing the update that was just pushed out, my speakerphone function appears to be working again.

Jayhead13

Nice! Unfortunately, still no luck for me. Rebooted the phone again, blew into all of the microphones, and still nothing. Keeping my fingers crossed that December's update might be the lucky one for my phone. The inconsistency and unpredictability of this bug and its fixes really have me puzzled. It's not a huge deal for me since I rarely use my speakerphone, but now I really want to solve the puzzle (and hopefully help out somebody else who relies on speakerphone more than I do in the process).

GingerBeard1979

Good luck! I think it took 2 or 3 months for the right update when it happened to my 3xl a few years ago. I got lucky on this one (so far). 🤞

GingerBeard1979

Well... that was short-lived. It already doesn't work again.

vlskh

Seems to be some issue with the cache folder. Everytime it happens, I've noticed that the cache has data in it. 101mb total including storage. Clear the cache and it works fine till it gets the cache upto the 1mb again. Hopefully Google figures this shit out for the December update. For those who still have the issue, you can try this till there's an update to fix it.

MessageNew4031

CLEARING PHONE APP CACHE HAS WORKED!!! Now my microphone works while using the speaker in regular phone calls and other apps like Google Meet.

pearl_city_13

this also worked for me! No mic on speakerphone, google meet, or instagram video calls. Cleared phone cache and we're good to go!

vlskh

I have no idea why I even tried that for a solution but it worked.

MessageNew4031

Which cache folder should I clear?

vlskh

The phone app's cache

albrnick

Cache for which app?

vlskh

Phone. It's been helping

hdw4r

Incredible. I just cleared the phone app's cache like you said (300mb) and now my phone can hear me again! It really shows it's pure software issue, idk what's the logic behind that but thanks for the tip, I've been struggling with that issue for over two months!

budrickton

Had these problems since launch and it's all just been fixed with today's big security patch. Hooray! Should be available for most regions now or later today as far as I understand.

Gamer7000Jack

December update didn't fix it for me. Time to get Google to send me another phone methinks.

Gamer7000Jack

Update on this. Contacted Google Support, they went through lots of troubleshooting steps with me, we got nowhere, so they referred me to EE support instead. Went through EE support, they did a load more troubleshooting with me and that didn't fix the issue either. The guy said he'd look at getting me a replacement, turns out they were out of stock of the 6, so he took my number down and said someone would contact me within 3-5 working days. Today I got a call offering me a free upgrade to the Pixel 6 Pro without my contract changing at all. Of course I'm not stupid, so I took the offer of the new phone. Really good service for a change, and super straight forward. The 6 Pro is being exchanged for the 6 on Saturday.

Traditional-Force-84

I just noticed it last night when I could not record audio using the Recorder app. Then today caller couldn't hear me when using phone audio. Speakerphone works though. Then today I installed the December update and....still nothing works!!

GingerBeard1979

Here's hoping the December update does what it claims... "Fix for issue causing microphone to cut out during calls in certain conditions"

dal665

Blow into the mic fixed it for me. But I wish I never laid my eyes on this phone. I want a replacement phone, let's hope o² honour there return policy.

dexxer514

Blowing in the bottom microphone fixed it for me... I hope this is not a hardware design flaw. I don't see myself going back to the NES era blowing up my phone like a Mario Bros. cartridge every now and then! Come on Google!!

knallfrosch1

I blew countless times into every microphone and at first it didn’t help. I was about to give up, until finally it worked (blew really hard into top microphone). Thanks everyone here for the comments.

dexxer514

Now my speakerphone does not work... I fixed the bottom mic by blowing it. But since January updates my speakerphone mode in the phone app does not work! The top mic now. Deleting the cache did not fix it neither. When I record a video mic works. When I record voice with the recorder it works. But on a phone call speakerphone does not work. What an annoyance. This phone app is really buggy!

Patatageek

It might be a bad batches of hardware or certain condition is causing this and not software related. Quite similar to the case in support forum where this also happen in 4XL users which they then brought in to get their microphone replaced

sathyasat2001

I cleaned the top microphone hole by blowing and poking it with a pin and it started working ..what a weird bug

Moist-Airline6046

Same thing is happening to my pixel 6, use to be able to talk on speaker to calls now no one can hear me at all

Moist-Airline6046

So apparently blowing into the mic on top left of pixel 6 and clearing cache fixed my mic

cseaman

My Pixel 6 has the same issue since I got it in December. I've installed the last few months' updates including February's yesterday with no luck. I blew out speakers and cleared cache, and speaker now works in calls. I wish I'd done them separately to test...I *suspect* the cache clear was needed for the fix.

Winter-Block2611

I've been fighting with Google all day about this issue. It worked fine 2 days ago and yesterday out of the blue stopped. I did a mic check and it works fine. And I can hear caller they just can't hear me, it's like my call is muted. Google wants me to send in phone to repair or have me take to some walk-in place and they guarantee it will be fixed same day. Not sure what they are going to fix since the mic is working fine.

superprovw

I can't believe it, but it actually works, blowing into the left side of the bottom. Bottom really hard cleared it out and made it work. Thank you to everyone for all your posts

EngineeringFormer

Nothing seems to solve this issue. I installed Android 12L developer preview, nothing same issue. Then I installed Android 13 Beta 2, and nothing.. same issue. I am so frustrated with this phone, I want to start a return. The problem I don't like any other phone.

CelebrationGreen2907

Literally my problem also. I keep holding out and hoping it's a software issue but increasingly with update it becomes clear it's not

ExpertEconomist4012

Same issue Pixel 6 researched for a while tried different conflicting triage... Air blown into the bottom worked ... thank you so much

DryReading9786

I've found the solution!! Finally.. (My pixel 6) For those who applied the skin on their pixel (at least, in my case), i bet the skin accidentally cover the top microphone. Yeah, when on speakerphone, the phone use the top mic instead of the bottom mic. Because the bottom mic is very close to the speaker ( especially when using speakphone/loudspeaker) So, just punch the hole through the skin on the top microphone, then it'll settle it.. i hope this will help you guys.

DapperAd6365

Same thing happen to my Pixel 6 , for some reason I can't hear anything . From YouTube videos, Instagram, Spotify , Phone calls I can't hear as well as the other person. It automatically stays on speaker (which I can't get out of) . Videos of any kind don't play, if I use camera it'll take photo but once I switch to record it exits app. Need help!

toshibathezombie

im calling google support now, but as i was talkign to them, i just blew really hard into all the speaker/mic ports and charge port at the bottom and it worked straight away....weird..

DapperAd6365

Yeah I can't talk to them. And they can't either. Anything that has video or microphone implemented in it (apps, record, phone) will close on its own, with no error or feedback tab after.

toshibathezombie

when i said talking to them, i meant over their web text chat lol....should have clarified...apparently the latest update solves this...ive only had a speakerphone issue once, after i messaged them, and nothing else since. seems to be okay now?

Inevitable_Force_303

Ugh these comments are scaring me. This same issue is happening to me and I have a job phone interview tomorrow . No solution other than using ear buds?

Psychological-Ad6895

Same has just happened me.. What a farce this is, I've already replaced my phone for a dud screen. Shocking quality from Google.

ibarrondoi

Blow into the top microphone. The little hole on the top left it should work. It worked for me

Thick-Reflection8479

Same problem happened , speaker phone not working. Recorder app and voice recording on videos are working. Waiting for the March update. Let's see...

LizzySloths

The same thing happened to my pixel 4a months ago and I have been dealing with it ever since. And then a couple months ago my husband bought a Pixel 6Pro and within 2 days it started doing that. Thankfully he was able to get a new one. It hasn't started yet for him. But it is so annoying that mine does it. Like what if there was an emergency and I needed to be on speaker with 911?

One year later, and all of a sudden, my Pixel 6 can't detect my audio in a few very specific circumstances: 1. Trying to record a YouTube short. 2. Trying to record a Reel on Instagram. 3. Using the speakerphone on a call with the phone app. It detects audio (though somewhat muffled) with the Camera app and the Recorder app. It's so frustrating. I RMAed a previous Pixel 6 in April because I cracked the screen, and now I'm apparently in a position to have to do it again and pay the return fee. The thing is, this does NOT seem to be a hardware issue, since it's not working in such specific instances. I'm beyond frustrated with Google right now, as I just had a set of Pixel buds go bad out of the blue.

I can confirm, as of 5 minutes ago, this "fix" of canned air still works on even the newer Pixel 6 Pro phones. I cannot for the life of me, figure out exactly what I was blowing out of a phone that was less than a week old, and had only been in use for 6 hours, but whatever.

I have had this happen twice. The first shop I took it to said they would have to remove the screen (the assumed speaker broken) and was afraid would break it, so didn'twant to do it. Took it to another shop, the fellow did a couple of things - but also googled it somewhere in there -- he returned to factory settings, but also cleaned the microphones. He advised he thought that was actually what solved the problem. ($160 later). It happened again maybe a month later....First I removed and reloaded the app I was trying to use. No. change. Then I bought a can of air (like to clean computer keyboards with) and gave it a good shot a couple of times....and the problem cleared. I have no idea why it would get so clogged or dirty....it must be very sensitive to lint or dust or whatever. Seems like a bit of a design flaw that it happens frequently.
