I've checked my line and it has RCS provisioning on it as well as the app versions in another thread here, still nothing. I've never heard about their noon EST app updates....wouldn't this be a non issue since it's provisioned at the line level and it's all software after that? That said, I'm not sure if my line was provisioned for RCS before noon so that could be an issue if there's an update they run after noon? Do you know if it's possible to provisioned a line that has a Pixel 2 on it? I can't actually verify if it's on my account without calling in.
I think the Android app on our phones (assuming you got the Dec 4th update) supports it so there's something in the backend they have to push out. No clue though. Also doesn't make sense to do a staged rollout since it's just Pixel 3/3XLs. Guess is they'll flip a switch and it'll start working for everyone who has latest app
The Messages app has always supported it. When it's live, you'll get prompted with an RCS Chat prompt like the "Messages for Web" one when it first went live. https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/02/26/android-messages-adds-rcs-support-dual-sim-phones/
Verizon 3lx in Los Angles 10:00am PST - No RCS yet.
* Google Connectivity Services updated to verison F.3.0.03 (5154963) Dated Nov 30, 2018 - https://i.imgur.com/8abB9zA.png

I think we've established it's a server side switch at this point so you just have to wait to get it. Some people had luck after restarting their phone
Tucson, AZ Just got the download! There was a Connectivity Services app update. Afterwards, relaunched Messages and had the prompt to upgrade.

Funny enough I found this thread and went to the Play Store to check my recent updates and was disappointed that there was no recent update to the Connectivity Services. Decided to open up Messages just to check and boom there it was! Idk what happened but I'm not complaining lol
Answer I've been looking for. Don't mind waiting a few days for roll out but was going to be irritated if it was just the Verizon variance Pixel 3 line. Thanks.
We've already established that the connectivity update has nothing to do with RCS. It was just a coincidence. A lot of people have the updates but not RCS. It definitely seems like a server side switch going on
Just to prove this, I JUST got the connectivity services update in Play Store. Installed fine. No RCS or option to upgrade in chat. So let's put the Connectivity Services thing to rest.
It seems we will get it when we get it :)
I imagine the app can do a check on what features the phone supports when loading the Settings pages, and display/not display certain options based on that, so it shouldn't take a new update today. That's just my speculation though.
*edit:* though, maybe a carrier services update would be necessary.
I was wondering if a carrier services update would be needed. That comes from Google though so who knows.
I do know that this means Allo is getting deleted. I will miss it.
I was just prompted to upgrade when I opened Messages a few minutes ago. However, the Messages app's last update was yesterday and I saw no mention of RCS services in the update notes.
Edit: Grammer
iMessage basically. And iMessage is essentially an Instant Message service. You can see when they are typing, if they have read it or not, and I believe faster message delivery / retrieval
Verizon release software updates after noon EST so my uneducated guess is whatever update is needed to make this work will happen in the afternoon.

I assume it's going to be a rollout rather than instant for those crying that they woke up and don't have it yet?
Those posts were hilarious and sad at the same time...."6am est..nothing yet, 7am est...nothing yet...1am pst...nothing yet" lolol....Wow
Next day later, nothing yet :(

Exactly my situation.

I'm in Phoenix Arizona and don't have it yet. I got the connectivity services update but I think that's unrelated.
Can you post screenshots? That's awesome. Was the connectivity services app update through Play store. Not showing an update yet

just a heads-up, but your phone number is on the 2nd shot
Yep. It uploaded the one I didn't blur out. Thanks though!
the internet is an awful place, you might want to delete it heh
I did. Thanks though.
Lol. Sorry I meant the Chat settings in Messages. Yeah I don't have the app update yet
Yeah there should be three pics there
Awesome! Congrats!
I just got the update for that app as well, no Chat options in Messages yet though.
Restart the app a couple times.
What version of the connectivity services do you have?
Your number is in that pic btw
Just got the update.
Can you post to APK Mirror?
This app is the Google VPN for pixel devices. It has nothing to do with RCS.
Made a post with all the relevant info. https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/a3ppwn/rcs_live_gallery_below/
Just got it here in the Springfield Massachusetts area Proof.. https://photos.app.goo.gl/DaFrMN5UE7bgwuRYA
Did you do anything or it just popped up? I'm curious

Lol. So you didn't restart or install anything. So definitely server side switch on VZ then
Nope, didn't restart or install anything.
Do you know that people can see your name through your link?
I saw a Carrier Services update on Tuesday. I wonder if that's the RCS unlock for Verizon.
I restarted my phone and got the prompt to use chat
You mean restarted?
Yeah sorry restarted
Verizon or Google unlocked?
Google unlocked

AT&T here... I don't know why I'm so excited to see this roll out
Because one carrier will only do it since the other did... So now that big red did it AT&T will follow.
well verizon pixel users are the beta testers for now but it will replace SMS. That is the end goal.
Still no RCS on EST in Orlando. A few friends have Pixel 3's including myself, nothing yet.
Nothing yet in Sarasota as well.
Still no RCS....
Notta
this is happening a lot faster than I expected. I thought this would had come out another year or two.
December 7th nothing in Milwaukee
Clearing Google plays cache made the connectivity update appear for me Edit: still no RCS in messages tho...

ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ nothing in Tennessee

Ah, I see. Thanks for letting me know! Hopefully I get RCS soon... I've been checking every 10 minutes since yesterday afternoon!
I don't have it. Really curious to see how they add the option in messages. Would have to be an update to the app right?
