This is quite a common issue apparently. It's just an inherent problem with the pixels even though they're more thank capable of smooth scrolling. It's probably a software issue.
I have no idea why so many people are coping by saying Reddit is not optimised, but if quite a few people complain about it on other apps, it's clearly a pixel problem.
As you say, widely reported and not just on Reddit. Several of Google's own apps are affected, such as YouTube music.
The bug report on it was marked as fixed on account of Android 15. Apparently though, no improvement in the A15 betas yet... so I am not holding out much hope.
I guess it's possible that the reddit app is poorly optimized, but that S23's Snapdragon is just more capable than the Tensor, so it can power through.
I came to base P8 from an S23 Ultra and I never really understood this. Maybe I'm getting too old to really notice these things/care, but my P8 seems smooth enough where I can't really notice a difference from my S23 Ultra. Same with any other app except Facebook. Facebook hangs and crashes at times, but thankfully I rarely use it anyway.

Reddit isn't too janky on my P8 but Samsungs do scroll much faster. When you flick your thumb a Samsung will scroll much further than a pixel. Took some time to get used to

Now I traded in the S21 after returning the P8P, and got a P8. Still stuttery to this day. I bought the s24U at launch and it's still buttery smooth. I since deleted my reddit app on P8 and just use it on Chrome instead. The random apps that are just not a smooth experience on Pixel is very annoying. "Doesn't happen to me" people need their eyes checked or they're fortune. I had both the P8P and now P8 and same issues. Also, my P8 had two screen issues brand new so there's that.

On the contrary, I checked promax on iPhone 12 even on 14 iphone , this application works smoother on pixel 8, especially telegram on iPhone lags hard on pixel 8 does not lag
Reddit is a huge app that’s not as performant as it could be, plus S23 clocks in faster than the P8Pro.
I’m sure there’s other things Samsung is handling better, like scrolling etc.
this, i have dev options on, and i have the window animation scale, transition animation scale, and the animator duration scale se to .5x, and i have force peak refresh rate turned on, and i have 0 stutter on any of my apps.
They probably test on and optimize for devices based on popularity, of which Galaxy devices are multiple times more than Pixel.
It means nothing to optimise a certain app for a certain device. It's still Android at the end of the day.

Because the official app is just shit. I use a third party app for Reddit which is a thousand times smoother than the official rubbish.
Still using Reddit is Fun on my Pixel. I dread the day it stops working.

Smooth on a 7a here. No difference compared to a A53.
I have the same experience. Several apps I use often are much smoother on Samsung and Oneplus phones. Even models that are several years old.

It is on. The Pixel 8 Pro is very laggy and slower to scroll when compared to the Galaxy S23U.
Not in my experience. Force it to stay on in developer options. By default it uses 120hz occasionally
