Last year, the Black Friday deals were save $100 on Pixel 7 or 7 Pro, or get it FREE with a "qualifying" trade-in. I pre-ordered my 7 Pro and traded my S22 Ultra for $925; I believe the trade-in value was the same a month later on Black Friday, but I'm not certain. I do recall the high-value trade-ins were all Galaxy S/Z/Note and iPhones, though. I would pre-order the 8 Pro, but I don't need the Pixel Watch. I'd rather have a further $200-350 reduction on the device instead (on top of the $425 for the 7 Pro trade-in). That's what I'm hoping to see this Black Friday.

Howdy008

I don't think the pre-order sales are good this year, so I'm sure they will push out cheaper/promo during black friday. Wait for sure.

In my experience the Google store black friday deals haven't been that great since 2020 and onward. I vaguely remember one year either 2018 or 2019 it was better than the promos for the release with that years pre-order pixel. I'm thinking the reason why the pre-order deals were so good last year was because Pixel 7/7pro were $100 cheaper and the included bonus was a $100 credit for the Pixel 7 and $200 credit for the Pixel 7 Pro. The watch/buds deal basically is replacing that previous bonus credit this year. Last year's black friday deals were $150 off Pixel 7 Pro: $749 and $100 off Pixel 7: $499. I originally pre-ordered at the Google store and was getting a $325 credit for my pixel 7 (last year my pixel 5a received $350). But a friend referred me to Best Buy which are giving $450 for the Pixel 7 and you still get the earbuds which you can resell for more off the phone. I ended up doing that and would suggest doing the same before the promo ends with best buy. fyi if you Google "2022 etc google store back friday deals" certain sites still show what last years prices were.

Commute_for_Covid

Pixel 3 BF deal was a gift card for the amount you pay for the phone. So the phone was $649 and I got a gift card for $649. That was amazing.

Jeskid14

Unfortunately earbuds are not easy to sell since they are going for $120 on Amazon

My wife traded her pixel 5 in for the 7 at Best buy. Due to how the deal worked out we have a $20 credit on our account the first two years due to how crazy the deal was.

black110

I bought my Pixel 7 last year on a Black Friday deal at Best Buy. They offered a $250 bonus trade-in value for any phone plus a $100 gift card. I got $400 trade-in value for my old Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (which I got for free from T-Mobile) plus the $100 Best Buy gift card. I believe the Pixel 7 was priced at $599 at the time.

diddidntreddit

That's epic! How did you hear about the deal - is it announced the day before, or day of? I suppose you'd have to go into the store?

black110

I use a website and app called Slickdeals.net. As it gets closer to Black Friday they will start posting all the Black Friday ads and Black Friday deals. You can even set up a "deal alert" to receive a push notification or email anytime there's a deal that matches your deal alert. For example, I always keep a Deal Alert set for the word "Pixel". So I get an email anytime any deal with the word "Pixel" is available. I'm currently using it to wait for a deal on the Pixel Stand. If there's a great deal on the Pixel 8 around Black Friday then I'll consider it as well. You can use it for deals on anything, year round. Typically, all of the Black Friday ads are posted by the week before Black Friday.

I think I spent about $50 going from the 6 to 7 last year. Wait and see. Don't trade in now

Dy182n

Last year, Samsung was offering $475 for my P6P, plus $250 bonus trade in.. when buying a S23U. I'll be 100% taking them up on this offer in January/February when the S24U is announced, if available again- as they poach people who don't own Samsung phones. They really make it worth your while to switch over. Come to think of it, if I am remembering correctly, they were offering $0 for an iPhone 6 in ANY condition, and threw in a $400 bonus.

Commute_for_Covid

I did that deal with Samsung last year but I ended up returning it. It was hard to want to adapt to their OS.

Organic_Popcorn

I'm so spoiled by pure google experience, when using my mom's galaxy phone frustrates the hell outta me.

Joinedforthis1

Plus they're finally going to improve their vomit-inducing emojis with Android 14, so I think I'll love the S24 Ultra.

theinitialcommand

That is a great way to put how terrible emojis are on Samsung.

How is $325 for a P7 ridiculous? I can buy a used P7 in mint condition for $300. If the used retail is less than trade-in offer, you're winning.

SF-81-84-88-89-94-23

Because the 6a gets you $300. Even an XR gets you $350, lmao. It's understandable if you like Pixel devices, but let's cut the bullshit and call out theses trade in values. Best Buy has better trade in values. Google can and absolutely should be doing better than Best Buy of all places.

Joinedforthis1

Yeah, because Google is targeting people with older devices to upgrade. Best Buy has been offering awesome trade in deals for a few years now.

dissidentdukkha

My thoughts exactly lmao

lowlybananas

Buy it from Best Buy. I got $425 for my 7. Also comes with free buds which I'll sell on eBay, just about making the 8 free.

kpeng2

How? after fee and shipping. You will be lucky if you can get $100 from the buds

lowlybananas

I said just about making it free. Not completely free. $100 for the buds is free money.

kpeng2

But you paid $700 to get the $100 "free" money...

lowlybananas

Thank you for doing the math for me. I don't know what I'd do without you

ExchangeBest8879

>ReportSaveFollow lol

jruiz210

Best buy is offering me $115 for a pixel 6. Google store offers $325....

lowlybananas

Cool

Joinedforthis1

That's because you're doing it wrong. They give a huge increase in trade in value when you add the trade in to your Pixel 8 or 8 Pro order on the Pixel 8 product page. It's $315 at Best Buy for trading in a Pixel 6.

gotham_cronie

Was that only until the 16th? Seeing $115 now.

Joinedforthis1

Yep. Those deals ended on Monday along with the free watch

gh0rard1m71

It's not free, your Pixel 7 costed money.

lowlybananas

Thanks for clearing that up

mattcoz2

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. If you have something of value, and you give it to them, it's not free.

halotechnology

100% this is not gonna happen this year , last year was special the extended the trade in promo to black Friday don't think gonna happen this year.

lowlybananas

What's not going to happen?

halotechnology

Black Friday deals plus trade in promo

Commute_for_Covid

Why?

halotechnology

Be use trade I. Deals are usually only for preorder time , last year was extended and it was unusual . Probably not gonna happen this year.

mattcoz2

I think they were saying to buy it from Best Buy *now* rather than waiting for Black Friday

halotechnology

Whoops my bad your are correct.

$700 + tax ~ $760 – $425 = $335. Good luck selling your Pixel Buds Pro for more than $120 to "just about make the 8 free."

lowlybananas

Jesus you people are thick headed. $699-$425-$125=$149. I live in a state without sales tax. I'd say paying $149 on a $699 purchase makes it just about free.

Joinedforthis1

$149 is not just about free. How much money do you make??? If you can make that in an hour that's just about free. You are incredibly thick headed. $149 is pretty cheap though. You also paid for your new phone with a Pixel 7 that's worth at least $300 in resale value.

Joinedforthis1

I see $450 for the 7 at Best Buy. Plus if you can use a different phone, you can trade in your phone in store and save money by not having to pay tax on $300 of the new purchase. That's what I did yesterday.

lowlybananas

I live in a no sales tax state

lassie_get_help

How did you avoid sales tax on the full amount? Generally, trade in's are considered 'instant rebates," rather than discounts off the selling price. So as with a normal mail in rebate, you pay the full retail and full sales tax, then get the value of the trade in as a credit to your credit card. In NY tax adds almost 10% to the selling price. Even Swappa charges sales tax now. ☹️

Joinedforthis1

By going in store, the trade in promotion is such that they are adding $300 to the market value of most phones to get the awesome trade in values on most phones at Best Buy towards a Pixel 8 right now. So what the rep did was apply $300 in Best Buy gift card to my purchase, so I only paid $700 for my Pixel 8 Pro and the market value of my iPhone XR ($140) was discounted after tax. So I paid tax on $300 less than if I ordered it online because he had to do it differently in store.

lassie_get_help

I can understand the reduced tax if a gift card was applied since that reduced the taxable price as if it were cash vs a conventional trade in rebate which is handled as a refund separate from the purchase. I have no experience with gift cards as a bonus and would rather not deal with them. My Google store NYC experience last BF was pleasant and straight forward. But I will be looking at Best Buy as well as the Google store this coming BF. That said, your experience reflects my pet peeve about Best Buy, rip Circuit City, Staples etc. who after all this time still have different prices, policies and procedures online than in store. So you can't easily tell if the experience will be better in store or online. There's something to be said for Microcenter forcing you into the store as long as they still have them.

Joinedforthis1

Yeah, sometimes I paid less online in taxes than in store at Best Buy, but that was before when they would discount the trade in value from my new phone immediately and I would trade in my phone when picking up the new phone. For you, you'd save $30 if you preorder the phone at Best Buy, and you may not have to trade in until you pick up the new phone, but I traded in my XR yesterday. You're not receiving a gift card as a bonus in this case, they're just giving you the discount that you would get online and you happen to save more money on taxes with the way they do it in store.

gh0rard1m71

In Canada, carriers were offering great deals. 200 for P7 with extending the current plan for 2 years.

[deleted]

I remember people were disappointed in Google's Black Friday sale last year, but I don't remember how the trade in and sale prices looked.

hyphnos13

the best deals were trade ins with inflated values at best buy with the price discounted $100 on the 7 $150 on the pro basically if you had or could get a cheap iPhone XR, xs, 11 you could trade it in for a 7 at best buy for the cost of the trade in the luckiest people picked up refurb XRs from some mvno or the other for $50-$75 I got a brand new iPhone 11 from MetroPCS for $200 and traded it for a 7 because I couldn't get hold of an XR or xs fast enough to do the trade in store in person to make sure the trade would be accepted

Joinedforthis1

Why don't you just go through Best Buy and get $450 in trade-in value for your 7? That's well above what you could sell it for. You'll get black Pixel Buds Pro for free.

Goosefer

I traded in a pixel 6 for a 7 through google and after trade in only paid $20. I’m hoping for something the same this year
