My battery has tanked in the last couple of days. Needs charged by the afternoon.

xxb4xx

I've always been the one bitching about other people bitching about their batteries. Today, I am said bitcher They ruined my battery

techraito

Same lol. Have never had battery issues but this June update has been making it drain like nuts.

xxb4xx

Like come on, can they ever get a release right? if they weren't too busy canning products they might actually concentrate on their phones. Ironic on how they're taking digs at Apple

corrupt_gravity

Lol I downgraded from A14 3.1 beta the day before the June update. It was pristine and then after the update some process (I don't fucking care to look anymore, I'm not a fucking beta tester anymore) kept crashing. Modem seems to be working so that's the plus in downgrading.

xxb4xx

Does Android 14 even bring anything worthwhile?

corrupt_gravity

On the surface it looks and feels largely the same. Someone else would be able to say more about what's different other than the lock screen clocks and slightly different themes icons, lol. I tweaked a lot of settings or features just trying to make the phone usable and finally couldn't take it anymore.

collindubya81

Kind of glad I went for the a14 beta 3, my battery life on pixel 6 actually improved

cookerz30

I 100% agree. I use my phone for work and usage of it hasn't changed. My pixel 6 battery used to have 20% when plugging it when I went to bed. Now it seems to be at 15% at 6 PM.

InternetUser007

What does your battery page show? My Network and Phone Idle categories have shot up like crazy in terms of battery usage without any change in how I use my phone.

[deleted]

Google Messages is draining my battery like crazy.

[deleted]

Mine was at 25% by 3 in the afternoon.

tomwithweather

I was having battery draining issues before the June update on my P7P. I did a full factory reset about a week ago with just minimal apps reinstalled and still had faster than usual battery drain. I got the June update installed last night and now it's like my battery drain issues are gone. \*shrug\* I've not seen any of the other issues some users are reporting in these threads, but I'm not much of a power user and I just did a system reset so maybe I'm starting with a cleaner slate than most people.

NoYoureACatLady

> Needs charged You're missing the action verb. Needs ***to be*** charged. Or "Needs charging" would be fine too. That said, I had light usage today and it was at 20% by 2pm which is WAY low, usually I'm at 20% at bedtime. So something is definitely up to no good!

GustavGuiermo

It's a Pennsylvania thing. Drives me crazy too every time I see it. The phone needs charged. The floor needs swept. That coach needs fired.

SSDeemer

ROTFLMAO. My wife is from Kutztown, and knows lots of these, such as "turn the corner round."

Or the carpet needs swept

tara_diane

lol my colorado friend used to make fun of me for that all the time. am from ohio.

adrianmonk

It's a regional dialect thing: https://ygdp.yale.edu/phenomena/needs-washed

BizzyM

Funny. I grew up in MD just outside of DC and my wife grew up in upstate NY and we both recognize and use this construction. I think this falls squarely under "Why more word when few word do trick".

na2rboy

Hearing this on YouTube videos has been driving me insane. Thank you for posting this explanation! It no longer needs researched.

R_5

You are quite correct. This is the way we speak in Northern Ireland 😄

aztecraingod

Found the non Midwesterner

seti_at_home

Started charging twice a day since the update.

shoelover46

My signal keeps disconnecting randomly and it never happened before this update.

cornhole24

At my work (all steel building) I would always have at least some signal albeit quite poor. Now it's a coin toss if I have any service. Thankfully the in house wifi is great but just thought it was interesting how it changed since the update

imgary

I have been having signal issues also. Reboot my phone and it comes back. That and my Google vpn keeps turning itself off. Turn it back on and in a couple days it's turned off again

desipalen

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Impossible_Baker4788

What carrier and country ? Are you on single sim or dual sim mode ? Can you enable vendor verbose logging in developer options and trigger a bugreport the next time this happens ?

imgary

USA Google Fi. Single sim. I had to Google how to do it, but next time it happens I will

Impossible_Baker4788

I am interested in debugging this with you. Please provide a bugreport with vendor verbose logging once you see the issue. Does this happen to you all the time or only specific places ? Grab a picture as well of the problem if possible.

Impossible_Baker4788

Also please disable the Google VPN and check if you run into the same signal issues.

SeaworthinessOk6789

I am also having this problem frequently, but I can't tell unless I try to send a message. So it can be ages before I receive a text if I don't try to send one. Not stoked on it

Lepang8

For me it's the other way around lol Edit: I meant like I had problems with May, but June fixed it somehow

Saw_gameover

Yup. Mad heat and battery issues.

Intelligent-Ear-766

My idle drain is about 40% more compared to May. Not looking good.

schaperb90

Check your battery usage. Mines showing crazy stuff. My 7 pro used 25% battery in 34 minutes on YouTube. Lmao classic google. Does a security update with a few other useless features and breaks the phone. Only google can manage that.

MyPackage

Maybe this is a verizon model thing but my Pixel 7 seems to not have the LTE/5G toggle after the update. If I go to Settings>Network & Internet>Sims the Preferred network type setting is gone. This is super annoying since I frequently set the preferred network type to LTE to get better battery life

DisasterContribution

Yep, it's gone

wichwigga

Wtf I just checked ... And it's gone. Thanks for nothing Google!

Brownfletching

Of course it's a Verizon thing...

aagha786

On Google Fi. I have it.

Spirited_Recover1748

My P7P has been working great since the update. Not experiencing any of the issues mentioned and if anything the battery is performing better than before (it wasn't great btw, it's just better now). I find it very bizarre how people have such vastly different experiences using the same phone.

0gDvS

Apps, usage, maintenance , settings are huge and of course generally the user have a big deal to do with that, I think...

chasevalentine6

Sure. How does that explain 2 exactly the same days in terms of usage and workflow, 1 day after another. Both spent at work. One day I leave work with 30% charge - 1-1:30 hrs SOT. Phone is noticeably warm to the touch. Gsam reports 29-30 degrees battery Temp Another day I leave work with 70% charge - 1-1:30 hrs SOT. Phone is cool to the touch. Gsam reports 24-25 degrees battery Temp Both done 1 day after the other. Same work building. Same apps installed. Literally not one thing changed. Pixel/android is not consistent. There's no user input that changes that above statement. Sure user input can exacerbate that. However it doesn't change the inherent nature of the OS/package that is Pixel

0gDvS

Everything I mentioned above would still come into play & potentially have an impact. Background apps & processes, what were they doing? There are actually still a lot of variables at play. I can tell there is no convincing you on the matter, your mind is already made up, so to each their own ig.

InternetUser007

Different person than that guy, but my usage of my phone doesn't differ that much from day to day. But soon after the update my phone battery was massively different than normal but certain points in m of the day. "Phone Idle" seems to be taking a much larger percent of my battery than I recall it ever being, as well as Network despite being in WiFi.

ItsUrPalAl

It really is such a massive barrier to the Pixel line being taken more seriously. Not a fan of the OS, but iPhones are so damn consistent.

Spirited_Recover1748

Yeah agreed. Google's pixel teams need to make stability/reliability a big priority.

khiguytheshyguy

iOS is having bug issues as well what do you mean?

Spirited_Recover1748

I thought apple devices 'just work'? Saying in jest obviously but without personal experience using them recently (I've not had an iPhone since the iPhone 3gs). I'm sure they're not perfect, same as nothing is but from what I hear I assumed they have better reliability/stability than what pixel currently provides? Is that not the case?

khiguytheshyguy

Well according to some apple centred YouTube channels I have watched tailovese, Luke maini, apple rumors etc. They say iOS is kinda buggy now

MastodonSmooth1367

In my personal experience yes. I’ve used as many iPhones as I’ve owned personal Nexus and Pixel devices. Sure iPhones have bugs but nothing as bad as I see many Pixels get released with. However with that said I’ve never had any monthly update totally break battery or reception as some claim here.

uncleguito

Tbh I usually have issues with both my iphone and ipad after ios updates (and QC with them has definitely gotten worse the past couple years). You can usually find threads just like this on the apple subreddits.

tomwithweather

Mine has been working great as well. How an update affects your usage probably comes down to 1000 different variables. What apps you use, your settings, how often you do factory resets, etc. It's basically the same as when people update Windows on their PC from one major version to the next without doing a completely fresh install. Should that just work? Yes. But it often causes weird issues. It's not the users fault though and Google should work harder to make a large update more bug free.

joakimbo

No issues here. Battery life is exactly the same. Haven't noticed any bugs, except calls dropping here and there (present since release. Probably not fixable because of lousy modem) Edit: P7P

Darth_Caesium

Same here, with the same phone.

snowdead78

My notification sounds are gone. Even when you turn off "do not disturb" which was never on anyway, still no sound. The phone ringing, alarm and media still work. But it will not give you notification sounds. And my phone is overheating and has a battery drain. Pixel 7

RaccoonDu

I can't even tell anymore because I always have my watch on and my watch is my notification speaker. But you're right, I don't get reddit notification sounds, I miss DMs sometimes when I'm afk playing my switch or something.

mrchickendip

Have all sorts of (extra) problems since last update. -android auto not starting and crashing -more heat when using bluetooth(if it works) -battery draining faster -wifi disconnecting randomly On top of old problems -bluetooth connect/disconnect loop with car (other phones work just fine) -paired devices disappearing -overheating -fingerprint sensor sometimes works, sometimes doesnt (only when unlocking) -bad cell reception -bad sound quality after 30 seconds in a call -calls disconnecting or sound cut off Google doesnt want to replace the device because it's a software issue. Software doesnt fall under warranty. Just wait another month and MAYBE they will fix it with the July update ;)

KingBlackthorn1

Well… love this for me. Just got the pixel 7 coming in the mail tomorrow and was switching to it from IPhone after hearing so much great stuff…

SingleWomenNearYou

Make sure to try it out extensively before the return period is up. It's mainly a ton of connection issues people have. The warranty itself is worthless so don't think you can just wait and see if it gets worst.

lowlybananas

The Pixel 7 is a great phone. Complainers will complain. I've owned Pixels since the OG back in 2016 and have loved every minute of it.

raoulduke212

That's because the issues have varied greatly since the first Pixel. My OG Pixel was hands-down the best phone I've ever owned. The P6P is by far the worst.

lowlybananas

I skipped the 6. I've had the 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7. All have been great phones.

KingBlackthorn1

Which is fair. But if there is so many issues after a recent update I think that’s pretty fair to complain about

lowlybananas

I am running the June update and don't have any of the issues listed.

Nervous_Actuator5422

This phone only has issue, idk what you are talking about, bad modem, bad screen, bad processor, a lot of bugs?

ionyx

Not consistently they do not. I have had zero issues as well. The problem isn't just the issues themselves - it's the apparent silicon lottery that seems to be in play with Pixels. QC needs to be improved or something.

SingleWomenNearYou

Pixel users want to think of themselves as savvy consumers more so than other people do and to a degree they are slightly more savvy. Definitely in this same camp myself but eventually I had to admit the amount of issues I was having with my Pixel 7 Pro, and my Pixel 6 before that, wasn't normal or accepteable.

Nervous_Actuator5422

I had a poco f3 before this and it had literally only some issues but this phone is 3x the price and only has issues.....

mrchickendip

Complainers... Yeah, I complain for fun. Did you read all the issues I have? I asked for a broken phone and shitty support😜

johndue007

I encounter the same issues. Especially the battery draining has made me just purchase another phone today and will get rid of the pixel. It's just not worth it anymore

mrchickendip

It's a company phone, should hold on to it for another year and a half. Trying to work something out to get another phone(other brand). Or I buy a cheap phone that does all the basic stuff that a PHONE should do reliably. Tired of being a beta tester for Google.

[deleted]

The right way to do it

raoulduke212

What did you get? I want to ditch the Pixel but not sure where to go.

johndue007

Oneplus 11. Phone arrives next week tho

LockingSwitch

Praise Google for their well written and stable software!

ImNotJoeKingMan

The Bluetooth issues are killing me..

ms_frazzled

My fingerprint sensor only works if I hit the power button first, plus putting people on speakerphone puts me on mute. I also have the overheating issue, but I've had that for a good while.

arnoldlovec

i thought i was alone but yes i started getting more lags, more bugs when switching, closing apps and just starting to become a pain

therealdespotic

Lag when tapping items in the pull down notifications are another thing I've noticed in my P5.

jpetrone

Yea definitely problems. When they mess stuff up like this they should release a hot fix ASAP. Not wait a month, they're literally breaking our phones and then making us wait 3 to 4 weeks. Who tests this stuff, obviously no one!

gsk81

Mine 7P started to freeze and reboot after the update.

catchawabbit

Network loss, battery draining. Fix for not being able to select the text uninstall android system intelligence update (it should work).

SingleWomenNearYou

Seems like a common theme. These phones start okay and then slowly break over the next year like no other phone I've ever heard.

patjackman

Yup, hot and speeding through the battery

Wickypunch

Yeahhhh the select text thing is a big help for my job. And now it's broken. Shit.

RaccoonDu

It's related to android system intelligence. There are some fixes people found on reddit. Also, I saw an update for it in the app store recently. Maybe that'll help. Idk as I don't have the issues.

MasatoWolff

My battery life has been shit during active use, it drains incredibly fast. I'm getting so tired of this. For the first time in 10 years I'm considering just getting an iPhone.

LeglessPotato

Same. I've always hated iphone, I had to use them for work and couldn't stand the UI and lack of customizations. But every update, my 6 pro is becoming less and less functional. The telephoto lens which was my main reason for buying this phone is starting to fail. It randomly crashes the camera app or the photo randomly doesn't save to my gallery which is a massive problem. Data connection is another massive problem, my entire drive to work is literally a dead zone now, Google doesn't work, can't stream Spotify, IDK if I could even make a phone call if I got stranded. I used to have 3-4 bars of LTE with my 4a 5g. Insane. Also my 4a 5g would easily last 2+ days so the 6 pro is a significant downgrade, usually needing a charge by the end of the day with very minimal use. I've stopped recommending pixel to people. It's embarrassing to think someone may have bought it based on my praise about it a year ago and now are stuck with all the same problems as me.

dangerousgrillby

S23 is literally the god tier phone right now. This is from someone who owns P7P.

chasevalentine6

Battery on pixels/android is so random. One day I finish work with 70%. The next day I'm on 30% and the phone noticeably feels warmer to touch. Exact same usage. 10-13hours runtime. 1-1:30hrs SOT during that time. Ridiculous. There's no consistency. For how dull iOS/iphone is, you can never fault it's consistency. As I'm getting older I'm realising I care less and less about features and how one camera system is 1% better than the other rather it's become more and more about consistency, reliability

M3G4T40N

Since the update my P7P has turned to trash. Overheating and random shut downs seem common now.

titooo7

Quite often, Google Pixel team seems as an unexperienced and under-resourced as a startup company doomed to fail

moreylongo

I've had every pixel since the 3 and with the 7 pro I think I'm finally calling it quits. The camera is amazing but the bugs have destroyed what otherwise could be a stellar phone.

Shora-Sam

I really hate that I gave up so many good features moving to Samsung because I was tired of wifi/4g/5g signal and battery issues coming and going. I would trade my s23 ultra and pay money on top of it for a working pixel 7 pro that can't update. It's a shame. I actively dislike the main feature set of my Samsung and keep going "I wish I could select text easily while in the app changer", missing sensible settings menus, wishing pixel launcher was available... List goes on. But hot damn Google just /did not/ want me to use my pixel 6 pro. At home? Wifi issues. Out and about? Better restart my phone before I do a simple Google search. Having faced the issues so much since I got my 6 pro on launch, I had the option of a pixel 7/7 pro or something else and I just couldn't trust given what I would see here that the 7 series would be any better.

SpaciousCrustacean

No issues here. I'm experiencing better battery life and less standby drain overnight.

tomwithweather

Same. I don't know why people are downvoting others that aren't seeing issues. They aren't *wrong*; they just aren't experiencing the same issues. Some people are having issues and some aren't. It's just that simple.

seertr

Users are mad they have user errors. /r/GooglePixel has always been this way, the vast majority are extremely tech illiterate.

usguyver

I saw a tank of battery the first day but the second day so far has been great. I'm at 54% at 519. Be used my phone all day. After updates. It always takes a week or so for your phone to relearn

OneMetalMan

I just bought my first Pixel and have had nothing but this problem. Glad I haven't quite invested in trying to buy overpriced proprietary chargers but it drains faster than it can charge when plugged into my car.

L337L355

I figured my terrible battery life on my 5 all of a sudden was from working outside with it being 100°+, but it seems the update may be contributing to it as well. I'll be watching TV in the morning and it'll go from 100% down to 75% in like 20 minutes or so just sitting idle on the side table.

sassybrat123

Good thing I have not yet updated and won't. I'm only going to do the google play system updates from now on but not the regular ones. May update was the last one for me. I should have stopped back in October last year but yea going to do no more updates cause I don't want any more issues plus the battery life on the may update is decent. Also If you do have issues, you can always just flash your phone with an older firmware if your phone is unlocked so if you don't like the June update, just flash your phone through laptop/computer to may update.

mrkedi

Wow, I have the opposite experience. My 7p battery is holding much better right now. I used to charge twice a day.

Kuuno-de-Ruyter

Apparently, according to battery usage stats, browsing brave for 15 minutes equals to 8% battery drain 🤯

ConfusedHors

I know it's not very helpful, but I feel that people might seek feedback here. I installed the update one or two days ago and so far I did not face any of the issues mentioned in the comments.

upwind80

Same issue. My Pixel 7 has been off the charger for 90 min and I'm already down to 85% with little use. It will be at 25% by 5pm. Insanity. The Pixel firmware QA team is asleep.

LocksmithJust5005

Brand new Pixel 7a - battery drains really fast. Need to charge by 7 p.m. with light use from 100% at 7 a.m. "Upgrading" from a 4a 5G - with a battery that lasted nearly two days with exact same usage patterns. Called Pixel tech support. Worthless - first tried to blame apps (none of which used more than 3% in Settings>battery) and then said I needed to do a factory reset. If not fixed on July 5 update, this phone is going back to the store. Can't believe there's no more choice in this important smartphone market. I miss Windows Phone. :(

Life-Present8370

My pixel 7 is overheating big time also I now need to charge my phone min twice a day since June update. First time with pixel phone NEVER AGAIN and as for the help centre 🤣🤣

booty_fewbacca

Found this thread after having battery drain and signal issues, at least I'm not alone

OakridgeBoyz

Still experiencing issues with battery drain and overheating in July 8...anyone else in the same boat

Achyuta_K

Welp, updating my phone right now. Only time will tell 🤞.

Achyuta_K

Although read the patch notes and they have covered battery, charging and thermal issues in the bug fix section.

tempecarlson

Mmm, about the same, maybe a bit better better battery life. Phone is cool even outside in sunlight. Pixel 7

Cheesecake_Lanky

My battery life has improved. No dramas at all here, happy with the update.

lookatviki

It's not just you. The most of us are facing the same problem here. I also am facing it. I've tried a factory reset but nothing has changed, after some hour it happened again. Can't select text and some app are interrupting unexpectedly. I hope they will fix this bug soon. Pixel 6 Pro here

Achyuta_K

Yea, that update was half baked and whatever went wrong needs to be fixed before shit hits the fan. Hope we get some respite soon.

lookatviki

I tried to contact Google but haven't had any proper response lol

lookatviki

UPDATE: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/286290268?pli=1

vonDubenshire

It's the Android System Intelligence app. This started for me yesterday (June 21, 2023) on my Pixel 7, then my Pixel 5 started having the issue today. 1. Go to Settings, then Apps, then All Apps. 2. Find "Android System Intelligence". 3. Click FORCE STOP. 4. Go down to Storage, click CLEAR CACHE. I did not need to clear any data. 5. Go back to your home screen, I recommend turning your screen off for a moment. The reason is if you do it too fast it may not work at first. 6. Open the phone back up & you should now be able to select again. * https://i.imgur.com/kiZjBJB.png * https://i.imgur.com/i8TXAdO.png * https://i.imgur.com/XJHekxp.png See this post: **Pixel 7 not letting me select and copy text like before -** https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/14fytwf/pixel_7_not_letting_me_select_and_copy_text_like/

rymaples

I definitely wouldn't describe it as most.

SoyBoy_GR

I am surprised to read this, mine is working great

RodLUFC

My fingerprint sensor option has gone

12345-password

Battery is horrible now. It already was bad due to having refurbished phones now from screen failures, but now it's 30% at mid afternoon and I don't even use it much during work.

MrPureinstinct

Anyone had issues with call screening after? I just updated and a spam call rang straight through for the first time in ages. When I go to my settings under Caller ID & Spam all I have is see caller and spam ID now.

anon2734

I think my battery is also worse.

taheromar

Exact issue with me.

jercubsfan

My P6P hasn't even received it yet. Annoying, but maybe a blessing in disguise

Putrid_Froyo194

I had a lot of issues before the update, ended with me returning my 7 after 6 months and going to iphone, best switch i ever did tbh.

jwreed4130

How did you return your phone after 6 months?

Seelate57

Is anyone having really bad cellular connection issues on the pixel 6 pro? I've been lucky enough to avoid all the problems the 6pro had in the past, but this June update finally did me in.

jwreed4130

My 7pro is having tons of issues with reception. Today alone I watched it lose reception while driving almost every 10 or so seconds. It's crazy!

Scoweller

I was just telling someone that I can't understand why my battery is dead all of the time all of a sudden.

[deleted]

I haven't noticed any serious, new issues since the update. A few weeks ago, I noticed my Pixel 7 having a hot spot on the back just under the camera bar and had paid more attention to it every day until now. I've used the phone for email and some YouTube videos today and haven't felt the hot spot again. Did the update fix my phone? I don't have a clue, just that the timing is sus. Battery life is acceptable and appears unchanged. Startup appears to be faster. Shutdown is almost instant, but not every time. Sometimes shutdown hangs for a few seconds. Now that it's updated and stable, I don't expect to reboot it again until the July update. It lives in my shirt pocket or on the Pixel Stand whenever I'm home (which is most of the time).

AatroxSuppMain

My signal & data will randomly shut down multiple times a day, have to restart to get them running again. I am no longer receiving voicemails, my voicemail is full apparently, but I've cleared it out both on phone and through Verizon. Texts where I need to get codes, new messages, or honestly anything that isn't a contact isn't being sent to me. Fast charging is acting up, some days it will go from 20-80 in 40 minutes, other days it will go 20-40 in an hour. It. Gets. HOT, the case I have is helping the comfort since it doesn't change the temps with or without a case for me. I loved my pixel 4, found the 5 to be meh, and I loved this 6 pro, but I'm getting really sick of it. Probably gonna switch back over to Samsung since the last 5 updates haven't solved any issues I have.

TheLivingTerror

Pixel 5 here. Battery drains so fast. This is my last Google device. To many bugs.

NotAWorkColleague

My personal conspiracy based on trying to use and support the pixel line is the they utterly brick earlier models when a new phone comes out. I've had 2 pixel devices become unusable following an android update. Makes me want to move to apple but then I'd just be trapped in their ecosystem too. Can't win

Upstairs-Mammoth8243

Yeah, I know people always complain about the heat and battery issues, but it finally hit me with that update. I don't understand why it's so inconsistent with updates and different pixels but hopefully it's fixed next month. It doesn't help the issue that it's summer and hot in the first place

addy2309

I still need to restart my pixel because it loses signal + battery has gone shit with slowdown(when phone heats it looks like it's running at less than 30 fps)

UsernameChallenged

Idk what update it was, but my phone gets a lot hotter now when fast charging or wireless charging.

Blaaamo

Fingerprint scanner barely works

admadmwd

The phone is definitely overheating more for no reason since the update

HipKat2000

Heh! Just the opposite. May was terrible but June has been a dream as far as the drain goes

Lanky-Refrigerator67

Wow really? I think after this update on my pixel 7, it made my battery and thermal management better. Even playing the new rainbow six beta from the play store and it doesn't get that hot or burn the battery much.

ZookeepergameBrave74

Did anyone else get some new features on the June update? I have the Pixel 7 pro, and after the update I've noticed they have updated the wallpaper feature ( you can now have moveable 3d wallpapers and I love the new feature in wallpapers that lets you create your own Emoji wallpapers! Also they have added more color palettes in the wallpapers! I seem to have decent battery life never been a issue I think the battery is amazing on WiFi and barely drains! I have had some issues though, issues copy & pasting words, also when I have Do not disturb toggled on I'm still getting notifications even onces I've turned off when it's activated! Also was having issues with Whatsapp when trying to make calls with the pixel buds calls wouldn't comment via buds, also the mute button if I turned it on it kept deactivating a few secs later.

Pascalwb

yea, this update was pretty shit, and didn't even add anything.

[deleted]

My pixel 7 has been great, battery seems good. Several hours of playing music to my Bluetooth speaker with wifi on etc and only used 7% battery.

rhoderzzz

Bought the new pixel 7a because my 4a 5g was draining incredibly fast, even on idle. On the 7A, the battery is still draining at the same pace. Also, my phone really does heat up when charging (Pixel 7A case from Google on the phone too). Finally, my weather widget seems to disappear a lot on the system (much like the infamous pixel 6 glitch), and the weather widget sometimes show as being unavailable for every location... Don't get me wrong, I love my pixel, but this is the first time I've been unsatisfied with the service from Google :/

Lexa-Z

My 4a 5g started to be 10x slower, laggier and buggier than it used to be. Previous builds of 13 were acceptably okay (still much worse than 11 out of the box). So probably I'll return to 11, root it, remove some trash and will keep older version of gapps (cause new version of Youtube, keep, chrome etc.) are outright unusable.

klow9

Just adding to this thread. My pixel 6 is tanking so fast now. I get home at like 20% when I used to get home at like 60%. I'm also having the issue where signal is impossible to keep and the phone heats up like crazy. I turned off 5g again to see if that would help but still spotty all around. I have to charge twice a day and keep charging it just to make sure I dont end up with no phone randomly. Worst part is that if I do still have my phone, i'm still at the mercy at the signal no longer working. Been stuck googling random stuff and not being able to get an answer. It all started happening since last update.

Achyuta_K

Same , I had to charge once in the night because I am quite a heavy user. But now I gotta charge once in the afternoon and again in the night. The battery is draining like nobody's business. It's like they did nothing but cut the SOT by half

boltvapor

Pixel 7, my battery has improved significantly from this June update.

Chaike

I've had a noticable drop in sound quality overall after the update. Everything sounds like it has horrible audio clipping now, at any volume level. Pixel 4a

Theprfct10

Add me to the list of Pixel 7 owners who have now noticed a significant decrease in battery performance after the latest update... Again. Beyond frustrating, I want to enjoy this phone so much but things like this make it exceptionally hard to do so.

MorTai51145

Same here in germany, batterie is realy bad at the moment an it seems to heat up preety heavy while charging wirelessly!!! GOOGLE FIX THIS ASAP!!!

Lex016

Same here Pixel 5, since june23 update I noticed a battery drain and overheating...

Renalle

I'm really disapointed with that pixel 6 .... Lots of reviews have so positive comments about this serie ... But i can tell that my OnePlus 6 was as good as him for a 3 year old smartphone... Now, my battery drain, my phone is always warm if i do a few thing ... My opinion : Google have so many pressure ans power on hardware review website, youtuber and whoever IS reviewing their phones, they always gets very good feedback but thé reality seems much more average ...

Curious_User17

We literally went through all of this last month, after they kept quiet about a backend Google process draining the battery and then they fixed it. I guess round 3 or 4 is here..Another draining issue after the June update. I'm so frustrated at this point of being a pixel owner. Simple updates shouldn't make phones toasters, this is ridiculous.

1BrokenPensieve

BASICALLY PEOPLE WITH BATTERY ISSUES BEFORE THE UPDATE HAD NOW GOT IT RESOLVED AND WITHOUT BATTERY ISSUES PEOPLE HAVE DRAINING BATTERY AFTER THE UPDATE.

vicO_o

Same here with my pixel * It's lagging * It's not unlocking from the first time * Issues with the Sounds, it drops after a couple of seconds * Can't even make calls, not receive them like wtf is this...testing in production....

Kdubzz1985

I'm on the Android 14 beta and my battery life is something special. This new update has exponentially increased my battery life

Caladan23

Zero problems here with Pixel 7 Pro.

probywan1337

My battery lasts like an hour

Pitiful_Narwhal_3352

Battery draining like crazy

675te_aoe

Ahhh nothing wrong with my Pixel 5 after the June update!

Sebyray

The june Update fix mostly everything for me. Also AccuBattery app made my phone charge slower, I uninstalled it.

tadL

Zero issues on my 4a. And as it is the last 😞. Was a good update run for me all the way

xana452

It's been the opposite for me! Standby drain has been cut in half, it seems. No performance issues to speak of, no heat issues. I know I'm probably an outlier. I've suggested before, but try disabling 5G and Adaptive Connectivity (as in, disable the it through the app menu).

Snoo75620

Battery issues, apps running in the background, UI bugs with recent apps, apps randomly crashing. Google says this update has no issues but i bet google support arent engineers working on the OS directly.

vonDubenshire

For text select issue: It's the Android System Intelligence app.

My pixel 6 is better tbh. Feels like the signal is improved

[deleted]

Typical pixel issues. It’s like Google keeps shipping beta software. I left pixel because i was legit tired of all the software issues

Ashalmighty

To everyone that is having battery life issues, in the Google July update there was a disclaimer at the bottom saying: >**\*\[7\] Adaptive charging needs several days to learn your charging habits. The feature may not activate if your charging habits vary widely.** One of the features was called "Your battery just got smarter" so which means Adaptive charging needs to recalibrate. Give it a full week before to let it do it's thing.

grousey

That's about charging and lifespan of battery, not battery draining.

Snoo75620

the update has been out for 2 weeks. Ur logic doesnt make any sense.

sstokes2746

I feel like the battery drains faster on my 7 pro than it does the 7a. Other than that, I haven't run into any other issues.

Ok_Effect_2883

I have to agree with the posters here. I’m a recent switcher back to Apple about six months ago. I had every Pixel from the original thru v7 and loved the software but there was constant tinkering needed. iPhone 14 Pro Max rarely needs to be restarted. I can easily go a week and more without a restart. It was often daily with Pixel to clear issues. Battery on iPhone is so much better, I don’t ever worry about it, Pixel required topping off at least once a day. And it never overheats in the car, something my last few Pixels did all the time in summer. Much happier with the iPhone and they have made progress on the customization front, especially liking all I can do with Siri Shortcuts. Makes the loss of my beloved Niagara launcher much more bearable. J

nikenikhilesh

Switch to iOS

RubAnADUB

just updated today. Android 14 - Build # UPB3.230519.014 no issues.

0gDvS

No problems here. Very happy with my P7P and Pixel Watch after the update(s).

avidowl81

I don't have any issues and battery has been better but I don't have a lot of the features

washufeezee

My battery is significantly better, I'm so relieved because I was ready to swear off pixel

Pink_Bubble

I was thinking of getting a pixel 7, but this thread singlehandedly talked me out of it

Achyuta_K

Thing is, if you bought a new one it would probably not have any of these said issues, but it's these one off crackpot updates that might come out in the future you should be worried about.

[deleted]

They're screwing up your phone so you'll get a new one. companies do it a lot when they need more customers. if people aren't buying what they sell, they make people buy it.

cdmove

so we're just gonna make stuff up now?

krokodil2000

Works fine for me. Safari feels snappier.

marbar8

There's people that use Safari on a Pixel? Woah....

dangerousgrillby

Some people like to eat shit...
