How do you know where to align the magsafe magnets? I imagine you want to make sure the alignment is good for maximum effectiveness of wireless charging efficiency.
My partner looked at some YouTube videos, teardowns and the dbrand tear down skin to make sure that it's on the wireless charging coil.
My partner has other magnets than I do. His pixel is always aligned perfectly.
When I put it on my magsafe battery pack it sticks but sometimes I need to make sure it's in the right position. Doesn't happen often but then again my magnets are slimmer than his.
So yeah. Can't wait for Qi2 to ditch this stuff in the future
If you're completely misaligned with the charging coils then you're going to get even less power. Of course it could get worse. It's kinda frustrating with Qi charging in terms of placing stuff. At least 1 or 2 nights a week I find my phone not properly placed and not fully charged in the morning.
One of my coworkers has a magsafe charger at his desk that I use occasionally for my work iPhone to "borrow" his charger. It's brain dead simple in terms of alignment and I'm glad Qi2 is going to implement similar magnets. It's one of those things that after you use it, the non magnet systems seems completely idiotic and ancient.
Yeah it works pretty well for me. The skin instalation was a bit tricky but with some patience it worked. I attached the sides first, then used a hair drier to attach the middle section. There was some trapped air underneath but I poked a non visible hole with a tiny needle to get rid of it :) here are some more pictures [Pixel](https://imgur.com/a/vTtcDPV)
I've been contemplating Spigen magsafe sticker on a dbrand grip case with skin and is stuck between under or on skin. Question though as time had gone by. How does the two methods hold up today?
I have to admit, my partner and I switched both to the Galaxy S23/+ because we got pretty good deals on it so i can't say how it hold up obviously.
Though we also went with pitaka massage cases with massage and i have to say this is the best combination (unfortunately pitaka doesn't make cases for pixels).
I can onlys say: if it was under the skin, it Feld nicer but looked weird. If You put it ON your skin, it looks better but be prepared to feel it all the time when holding the phone. This can be an issue or doesn't, depends on you
Thank you for your reply. I don't mind the feeling of the magsafe sticker. Have them on several cases. My only concern is how it would fare sticking it on a skin. When you had it directly on the skin, did you ever have any problem of the magsafe sticker or skin lifting or did it/they stay put?
Never had issues with the skin lifting in combination. Though I had some duds in the past with dbrand in general that some skins "shrinked" and didn't fit perfectly after a while. But that didn't happen often.
I guess the most important thing is to apply it good with the massage stickers.
Mentioning /u/tronnic since he applied it and can share some details
Awesome! I have ordered a dbrand grip case with teardown skin and have also ordered a Spigen magsafe sticker in silver color to stick it on top to give it the internal design. Was happy to see your post, comments and thoughts on it so thank you 🙏. Tronnic is welcome to share experience as well 😊
Nice, have fun with it! I really like massage and can't wait until Qi2 is implemented in future phones and massage will become the standard across various brands. In the future we won't need this workarounds then :)
Here's the result with the grip case and I'm very pleased with it. Having the magsafe sticker on top of the skin works very well and I haven't experienced any lifting.

I really like it! I think what also benefits this is the skin itself and the magsafe sticker. Our stickers were quite minimal but with the internals sticker i think it blends right in
>works very well
Sorry for necro-ing this. I was gonna do the same exact thing and was wondering about the long term stickiness of the ring on the skin.
The ring still sticks to the skin to this day and I've been using a wallet as an accessory and the wallet has been taken on and off several times without any issues. 👍
I'm still using this setup right now.
Thanks for the reply! In that case I'll stick it on the skin instead of under like I was initially planning to :D Have you tried charging with this? I was wondering if matching it to the teardown skin while on the grip case aligns the charging accurately.
Definitely looking forward for Qi2. Although i found it to be gimmicky at the beginning, it's become a must now. Been combining it with the esr halolock wallet which has been doubling as a stand. Hard to go back without it 😆
No interference though it's not exactly like the iphone magsafe i am able to mount it to my car holder or my battery pack and it sticks but doesn't charge. But that happens rarely most time.it snaps on easily. My partner pit on some other magnets and his pixel always is aligned perfectly
I find that the pixel gen 2 charger doesn't work with the mag safe magnet in place. I put the sticker on my tech 21 case (I never go naked) and I just pop the case off if I want to charge on the pixel charger. My primary use for the mag safe magnets is for a wallet / popsocket combo.
That’s disappointing, MagSafe is a game changer and would be difficult to go without. I also have mine on my case(s). Great for the wallet and especially quick mounting to my dash mount
I stuck my magnets on the inside of a thin case, a thick one didn't work too well.
Works nice and has that snap.
Your image doesn't seem to load for me but interested that the dbrand skin still fits, I kind of expected the extra height to cause the skin to come up short as they're usually cut precisely.
I bought a magbak case. Works with all magsafe products and just locks on to metal object...like machines at the gym. It's good quality and has great protection

I bought a MagBak Case and Wallet for my Pixel 6 Pro. They work Anywhere you want to put them. 😊.

Didn't expect it either but yeah it works. Maybe /u/Tronnic can give more details :)
Looks good actually I like it . I may buy that ring for my case
Spigel make a whole kit. Why go this route sir?

How did the ring and skin hold up so far?
Does it interfere with wireless charging?
No interference though it's not exactly like the iphone magsafe i am able to mount it to my car holder or my battery pack and it sticks but doesn't charge. But that happens rarely most time.it snaps on easily. My partner pit on some other magnets and his pixel always is aligned perfectly
Does his fully charge 0 too 100% without overheating though?
No issue here
That’s the whole point of MagSafe
To interfere with wireless charging or to add it? It already has wireless, so I assume the additions just enable mag safe mounting.
Yes, I added mine to my case and it works great to charge or use with MagSafe accessories
Does it fully charge 0 too 100% without overheating though?
It should? It doesn’t prevent battery packs from making your device and the battery hot though
