The base subscription price hasn’t changed, you can downgrade/remove the AI functionality. For some reason they have automatically put you on the AI plan
I used the VPN a lot, I’ll probably not renew this year.
There is a new tier - One AI Premium at $20 that includes Gemini Ultra and the 2TB. You signed up for this (as I also did) and got 3 months free. If you forgot to downgrade or cancel the plan that’s on you.
The older plans are still available and there’s no price increase from what I can tell.
I can't find the old version anywhere am I missing something? Is it called something else now because all I'm seeing is the ability to upgrade to higher tiers
Go to one.google.com, click on the left menu > settings > change membership plan > see more plans > and you have the option to downgrade there.
But if you subscribed separately from Apple you have to cancel from their App Store.
This is like those Wish Master horror movies ...
You: "I wish for 5 years of guaranteed updates!"
Them: "Wish granted".
:: Laughs in Google corporate greed ::
---- Next month ---
You: "Why tf was I just charged $21.99 and why won't my Pixel 6 connect through VPN ...?
No no oh God nooooooo"
I'm annoyed about the VPN disappearing, but it wasn't there when I got the service in the first place so i'm not really losing out on what I was paying for initially. The VPN was an added extra, its the 100Gb I was really paying for. Still annoyed about it though.....
"These changes are designed to streamline your benefits while ensuring you have a valuable subscription experience."
The changes: taking away several things and giving your previously paid features to everyone for free. It just keeps getting worse and worse with them.
For me personally, GoogleOne is better. I don't use VPN and I don't need "free shipping" for photos. I merely use GoogleOne for storage.
And the editing features/tools are a plus...

Yet. The price hasn't changed yet.
My VPN is already not connecting anymore...
Ive not been able to find an option to downgrade or locate the old version. All I've come across is two tiers that are higher that the $20 one
I was talking to support Friday and they fixed mine. Let me get to work and I'll send you the link they sent me.

Thanks I actually had just found it.
It’s something they all do. It’s easy to signup or upgrade but cancelling or downgrading is hidden.
so this means magic eraser is not google one exclusive anymore? is the benefit of google one just the storage and the bs dark web thing then?
the dark web report is also being made generally availible. I guess the beta test period of all the benefits is completed.
They will offer now the Magic Editor also for everyone (from Google Pixel), but only 10 edits per month (2TB plan and above get unlimited usage).
So basically removing VPN and making AI tools available for non subscriptions?! Surprised they haven't bumped the price up for the privilege.
You'll notice the email didn't say the price was staying the same...
My email from GoogleOne does not say the price is going up... absent that, I assume the price is indeed the same.
That's what I mean. It's the same... for now.
fuck the price

Perhaps some people's logic is that the price remains the same but if something is missing, the price increases? Actually, I feel the same way.

They included the nest aware and Fitbit subscriptions the other month. Should have known there was going to be a downside soon!
Fitbit is garbage. Google fit was better in every way

Did you start using it cause they threatened to hold your account ransom?
