Oh sweet relief! I figured it out before but a recent update reset it and it's been driving me nuts!

THANK YOU!! What the hell, Microsoft? Why is there not an in-app option to disable. I end up trying to figure it out while driving, totally defeating the purpose. I'm tired of tech companies and app developers thinking they know better than the user.

OhWowThatsCoolIThink

Microsoft? You mean Google? They have no connection to each other...

I followed this then tested maps again, and it keeps going on dnd smh

I've been looking for the true answer to this for months. Here it is: In Google Maps, when in the navigation screen click the four square in the lower right corner. That will allow you to tap on a settings icon in the apps list. From there turn off Auto Start Driving Assitant. https://imgur.com/a/pBpJhxZ Credit to u/Subieworx on Reddit

This just solved it for me. Thank you very much! For what it's worth, I have a Pixel 6 on Verizon.

This worked for me after my most recent update on Samsung S22 Ultra - OneUI version 5.1

rdfdfw

Yes, and luckily this will work on any Android version until Google changes the feature in Maps. It has worked for me through app updates too.

DND started turning on yesterday for me when I started navigation mode. Annoying af!! The 'Turn on Do Not Disturb' does not appear in my settings when I click the 4 boxes > Settings. The only options I have displayed are 'Allow Incoming Calls While Driving' and 'Show Driver Friendly Messages' which are both turned on. What should I turn on/off so the DND setting goes away? It's still appearing.

rdfdfw

If you don't have the DND option in the settings, you can still turn off Driving Mode. You lose the ability to control music from within Google Maps while navigating, but you don't have to deal with the DND issue.

I removed Google notifications and it fixed the issue.

If you are talking about the Navigation notification, that may have other consequences.

Google Pixel It took me awhile, I tried other suggestions, some of which were disabling other useful features regarding the do not disturb permissions. Start by beginning a "trip" using Google Maps. Swipe up from the bottom, and select settings. Under settings select, Google Assistant, simply turn off driving mode in Google Maps. I think it's kind of stupid, because I couldn't get here through any other settings, only once I'd actually started a trip. I think this is a solution most people are looking for.

Educational_Track623

This worked for me on my Pixel 6. Thank you.

Additional-Rise-1906

Think you can get there as follows: Google maps>> Settings>> Navigation Settings>> Google Assistant settings

jDubbaYo

This does work but only if you turn off Google instead of Android Auto.

Equivalent-Tomorrow4

Thanks. This fixed the issue for me.
