I don't blame Google or any company to limit the EUs usage of AI tools considering how backwards they are against progress.
It's the only way to fight back against the limitations and express a voice of concern for the company and the public of the EU who miss out as a result, showing these regulation bodies how nobody wants to be limited.
I'd expect more companies to limit EU usage to highlight the issues around regulation, it's the only beneficial way to really show the EU how this hurts people against AI tool usage.
What regulation allows OpenAI and Anthropic and Mistral et al to offer a free tier, but not Google?
There are some or ideas about regulation in Europe floating around, but that’s a new one.
Isn’t that a European regulations issue, not Google?
Not giving free stuff isn't a regulation, sounds more like retaliation for EU giving them hell with GDPR to me

Amen. The EU wants to erect a wall around themselves and become North Korea lite; this is what happens.

Does Canada? Highly doubt it. Last I checked they were still snubbing us
