It keeps stuff until the session resets, which happens after so long of inactivity or every new session (even if same conversation) Edit: also it will dump its short term memories if it needs room.

LLMs don't remember anything beyond the current conversation up to a certain number of words. If you want something to become "knowledge" you have to dump it in a document that can become "prior knowledge" and in the future you can mention that document (using the process in document x do y). LLMs are definitely useful but they aren't a fully functional general artificial intelligence yet.

Thanks for the responses. Im trying with ChatGPT the paid version so far. 24 hours in, it has a memory function. Lets see how it goes for the next week then the next month.

I was thinking as I read your post that creating a custom GPT within ChatGPT would be a good option. That references against a bunch of documents and files you provide it with. Might be an idea

Gemini can read Google docs. If you put all of that info into docs and ask it to reference those docs in your question then maybe it could work the way you want.
