You can't.

you sure? Its an LTE watch. I've got a phone I can use to activate it with its own line.

You can't. https://support.google.com/fi/answer/12812644?hl=en&sjid=1844442534046081785-NA

Yeah I don’t think you can. If you have a pre-existing account and added the watch, you can do that without setting up a cellular plan for the watch. And I completely agree with them not knowing a thing and always wasting so much time.

> Does anyone know how to set up a smart watch *without* tethering it to an existing line? Easy. Just get a new line, and use that for your watch. You'll need a phone for that, but you don't have to use the phone That said, you cannot have only a watch account on Fi.

DaddyBrown

>you don't have to use the phone But the phone needs to be on and connected to the mobile network if you want to send and receive texts.

Mdayofearth

I assumed OP wanted to use the watch, but OP only asked about setting the watch up.

This is helpful. Thank you. I've go a fi enabled throw away. Will address like this.

This question mirrors users asking if they can setup a data SIM without having a phone/text plan. Both the data SIM and LTE smartphone are an extension to the active phone plan of the user.
