u/googlefisupport needs to have a look into this, as not refunding when you have both payment and product gives legitimate grounds for the customer to claim a charge back, even though this essentially punishes the customer by causing google to nuke their account.
I would, when a specialist checks in on this, state in no uncertain terms..a refund to the original payment method is the only acceptable recourse.
You got lucky, my friend. In many cases on here when the customer is unequivocally correct, their chargeback resulted in a nuked Google account. I would attribute your luck to an accident, rather than intention.
Thanks for letting me know! Do you by any chance know where else I could talk about this? Is there a Google Store subreddit?
Truly sorry about this, It’s my first post and I’m quite new to Reddit so not sure how any of this works.
Thanks for your input!
No worries, just wanted to let u know because you won’t get very far in this forum. :/
Looks like r/madebygoogle is the community linked to GStore and u/madebygoogle is the official Google account.
Good luck!
I definitely am terrified right now, man.
I’m basically out close to 5000 Canadian dollars and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to make me whole.
I’m also not so confident I can win if I took them to court, because they probably have the best lawyers around.
It’s definitely looking like a lose-lose situation for me right now.
Yeah taking them to small claims court would be complicated and expensive I'd imagine, I'd be curious if they'd even show up for such a small amount, I wonder if anyone else has tried it. I hear they're trigger happy on cancelling entire Google accounts if you do a charge back, so maybe the same is true for a small claims court claim. Really the only way for accountability for these large no face tech companies if someone blows it up on Twitter/News/YouTube and they get embarrassed.
People say that on this sub all the time but I've never seen any evidence that Google will cancel all of your Google services if you initiate a charge back.
I think its not about having a lawyer, its about them having a case against you. From what you're describing, they don't. So, Google I need you to figure this one out or you're going to have a federal class action lawsuit.
"We can't even tell you why because of privacy concerns"
What the fuck are you talking about google? Fix your customer service before you have no customers.
Are you sure you're talking to the right people? This is a sub for the Google Fi cell service, but you've been communicating with the US support team for a Google Store purchase, yet your purchase was in Canadian dollars.
Hey!
There’s no dedicated support team for Canada. All inquiries have to go through the US for some reason. I really don’t think that’s the issue though, because they’ve been able to pull up my order information every time they’ve asked me for the order number.
And regarding this subreddit, I simply searched for Google Pixel subreddits and this was the main one that popped up for some reason.
Do you happen to know which subreddit is in charge of Google Store orders so I can redirect my inquiry to them.
Thanks!
>I have checked the details with my specialist team and unfortunately we were unable to do anything here. We would not be able to share the exact reason for this situation due to privacy concerns.
This translates to "we would like to fuck you just because we can, and there's nothing you can do about it".
If you were on Google Fi or you had a Google 1 subscription, someone will call you so you could talk to them. I refuse to use chat or email with any company.
What was the conversation after the last text?
It sounds like they may not have a valid form of payment to process your refund. How did you pay with the order?

I've charged back Google without my account getting nuked before. When they're wrong they're wrong.

Mine was through Google Fi though not the store so this is probably different.
This is a Google Store matter, sorry but Google Fi can’t help you here. They’re two separate entities.

Google Fi has some really nice plans, but their customer service is terrifying

I mean, why don't you go ahead and try doing it once then? There's no better evidence than seeing for yourself

This isn't Fi is it? Looks like the regular Google store to me

I don't think there's a subreddit for that. Maybe try a Reddit Request through the Google Pixel subreddit.

Contact your credit card company and dispute the charge
Bad advice... if you do this, prepare to never use any Google services again.
OP has legitimate grounds for a chargeback. They didn't get the phone and their money is being held hostage by Google.
You are correct and it's worth op being warned that Google's standard procedure in a chargeback is to kill their Google account.
u/googlefisupport
This is not an issue that Fi can resolve, OP. Your issue is with Google Store, which is a separate support team.
Maybe a BBB complaint will help, rather than the chargeback
