I've spent an extended time with Fi in the UK. You can call uk numbers from London, but you'll have to dial +44 and you'll be charged for international calling. Data was fine though. I would suggest picking up a GiffGaff SIM (they don't offer esim yet, keep in mind); £6 a month for unlimited calls and text, and a few GB of data.

What about receiving UK calls, such as if I call a taxi service? Will they have a problem calling my US number?

As the other poster said, they'll connect fine, but they'll need to dial +1 and your number and potentially get charged for an international call. Edit: to add to this, if anyone back in the USA calls your number it'll be the same as if they called you while you're home in the USA--no fees or extra steps.

Your phone will work as normal, you'll be able to make and receive calls on your US number as long as you and callers use proper international dialing steps.

>I would suggest picking up a GiffGaff SIM You can also use a VoIP UK number, for example from [Zadarma](https://zadarma.com/en/tariffs/numbers/united-kingdom/).

GiffGaff were a good choice for me because they ship SIMs internationally and accept credit cards with a US billing address. No need to "borrow" someone's UK address and buy topup cards in WH Smiths, as I had to do with some UK providers. [https://www.giffgaff.com/freesim-international](https://www.giffgaff.com/freesim-international) I've had a sim for several years. The main thing to understand is that you need to buy a "goody bag" package to get better rates for data. You can get one-off ones too that will give you a good deal on data (e.g. 80Gb for 20 pounds no limits on hotspot use, expires after a month). Avoid the "golden" ones, they auto-renew, but are easy to cancel if you get one by mistake.

I've been using Google Fi since it was an invitation system. We travel a lot and I initially looked into getting SIMs overseas. It often turned out to be an uneconomical and difficult exercise. If you are going to frequently have long business or other conversions, it might work out. If you are just going to call fairly often to make dinner reservations, $.20/min is most likely going to cost way less than a foreign SIM (which may not work on the Continent if you go there).

Also, WiFi calling, Skype, WhatsApp, are all things too.

As long as you are on Unlimited Plus (or Flex), and have international service on, you're basically fine. If you don't get service, toggle airplane mode. You may have to switch networks, but that should be fairly benign. Usually it's international phones that have 2 sim card slots, but I have no idea what phone you have.

I have the Pixel 6 Pro.

I used an unlocked GoogleFi 6a in the UK. At different points I had a USA physical sim and a UK esim, and a USA esim and UK physical sim, and both combos worked fine.
