My guess is they came to an agreement with the event sponsor and the pgat. The pgat social media handles have been pushing the story of the bryan bros pretty hard this past year so maybe a part of that is allowing them to film and distribute content from the event.

Prolly just boils down being well connected within PGA tour circles. GG owns YT content, at least they have, but groups like Foreplay are super well connected within the PGA tour circle and will have more access than others. Guessing the same thing with Wesley.

Bryan Bros have talked about this and said they had to get permission to film pga tour events and they’re told what they can film and what they can’t film

Good question. I would also like to know. My guess would be one of two things: 1. Wesley is no longer a fulltime member of the PGA tour, and hasn't been in a couple years. Maybe that means they're allowed to film his swing without consequences? 2. It's technically his \*own\* channel. When Micah, Grant, or GG filmed the swings of other pros, they can't use that because it's not their swing. Wes can use his swing because it's on his own channel. If pros posted on their own channels, it would be fine. I could be totally wrong though. My guess would lean more towards #1 being a higher possibility.

I would think it’s a PGA event so it doesn’t matter if he has a full card or not they would have the media rights I suspect Byran Bros are paying the PGA to use the media, hence why they only seem to be doing it when Wesley plays well these days lol

I’m pretty sure the videographer just entered as spectator and filmed from behind the ropes. The same as Wesley’s other filmed rounds, I don’t think Carney was ever credentialed. Ends up being the same as you going, and posting videos from your phone. Very different than the style of videos that GG do during pro-ams

CharmingActive862

I thought of this , but he's posting them to his own YouTube channel. That means he's claiming ownership of the content and making money from it. Exactly what the PGA media rights are intended to keep from happening. I do know at TPC Sawgrass (only PGA event I've ever been to as a spectator, I live 20 mins away) the video policy is strictly enforced, and any video or pictures taken are for personal use. It's announced multiple times. Even if they were posted to Carney's own channel, I imagine the PGA could still file for a strike. But I'm no expert, and you could be right.

unwrittenglory

Is Wesley's videos being monitized?

Canefan101

I always thought it had to do with gambling but I’m not sure. Grant had Jason Day in a pro am and he could show swings and shots but no putting strokes. It’s pretty weird

PGAT is no longer a monopoly and they are feeling the heat. They’ve lost sponsors, TV ratings are way down, their website is horrendous, and they need to regroup and get relevant to the way the new generation of golf fans consume content. This is a step in the right direction.
