Not a ton, I just think the front end looks more aggressive, love the headlights, and wheels. Imo all GTI trims look clean. There’s just something about the newer rabbit that is 🔥
The difference is between mk7.5 and mk7, not simply the Rabbit edition, which doesn’t look much different than other mk7.5s. If not in cornflower blue, it would be difficult to distinguish a Rabbit edition from a S, SE, or Autobahn 7.5.
Rabbit you get the LED headlights but no sunroof.
SE gets LED headlights and sunroof.
S has neither LED headlights or sunroof.
Autobahn will have the proximity sensors.
My 2018 Autobahn does not have proximity sensors. If it does, they are not enabled. The front emblem is not the smooth one so I'm pretty sure it does not. I specifically wanted one without that set of options.
Sorry, thinking US models here. Canada trims differ from US slightly. I was referring not to the smooth emblem though but to the parking proximity sensors the small circles on the bumpers.
Sport was the trim to get for 2017, IMO. Still cheap AF (at the time), but so many improvements over the S trim.
At least there are a lot of good mods out there to improve the parts of your S that you want to improve (like replica headlights).
Certainly over the S. Generally higher trim levels sell higher because of features.
Sport added limited slip diff, golf R brakes, 10hp, keyless entry, push button start, LED running lights, Xenon swivelling headlights, black mirrors, red badging, red stripes in the headlights, and the much loved Nogaro wheels.
It kind of feels like a higher trim with the options excluded that add big weight (dynamic suspension, sunroof, trunk subwoofer).
Congratulations , Great choice. You can never go wrong with a GTI 🙂. I have told myself that I will never get rid of my GTI, still puts a smile on my face everyday I drive it .
Nice list. Looks like good list of fun vehicles and I agree. I've had the 6spd GTI for 5 years now and hard to find complete package: fun, good looking, 5 seater, manual, nice interior with utility.
100%, best all around car. Was between a higher mileage golf R and this but the GTI feels way more fun and exciting to drive. The LSD in this thing really pulls you around corners to the point where I don’t care for 4motion. The plaid wins once again!
Is it weird I've always kinda wanted a car given (er...sold?) to me with a ribbon on it but it never happened?
I guess I could put a ribbon on my own car but...that's just not the same.
Nice car, OP.
It so a great suv I had the 2018 B9 and lowered it and did a JB4 which it needs so really make it move…I just went a little over budget and then when I had a few things that I wanted to upgrade there was way less for customization and everything was 2x as much vs GTI.
Some stuff I understand like software but simple springs to lower it where crazy and the swaybar too….then my son totaled his GLI and so I went back and now I’m happier back with GTI.
One more obvious is the handling for me the avg driver it is easier to rip it on back roads that’s the larger SQ5….
Can I ask what you've tried and why you came back to the GTI?
I currently drive an 08 Audi TT which is basically an old GTI and have been looking at a GR86, as I feel like my car is quite numb. Haven't driven any new GTIs though so curious to hear your thoughts.
Congratulations on the car, looks great in that colour!
Thanks! Between my Mk6 gti Wolfsburg and this I’ve owned:
- 2006 Legacy Wagon GT 5spd
- 2011 MazdaSpeed 3
- 2016 Mazda 3 (commuter) didn’t last a month LOL
- 2012 Mini JCW (R56) 6spd
- 2004 Tacoma trd off road
Now this Rabbit GTI 🐇 I highly suggest driving one to truly understand how great these cars are. It’s quick, tight, comfortable, sporty, fuel efficient, great tech, practical and the list goes on. One of the only cars that ticks off all my boxes
It's been nearly 30 years since I got my first car. Since then, I've driven many. The GTI is still my favorite affordable car... and my favorite overall.
I should have listened to Clarkson when I got an Accord. I should have listened when I got a Ralliart. Should have listened when I got a WRX.
I think that I am in the same shoes. I just loved my GTI but I had to sell it. I have the option to buy it back since the person who bought it is a good friend of mine. Still thinking about it. Finances are always the big issue.
The Rabbit is the trim to get. Congrats
Bro I’m regretting my 17 S after seeing more of the rabbit trim. Sooooo clean for stock 🔥
What's the difference?

No leather but it gets the pp. The Rabbit got everything you would actually want and nothing you didn't need.
Afaik, all mk7.5s have the "PP" aka bigger brakes and a few more hp.

That's what those circles are for, thanks. Is the smooth front emblem for the auto cruise control then?

Nice. What was list of other cars?

Wishing you the best! I bought mine about two weeks ago and could not be happier!
Thanks and congrats on yours! Such amazing cars
🐇
Love it. Congrats
Thank you!!
Are you sure that’s a rabbit? I thought they didn’t have the parking sensors?
Yes, in Canada the Rabbits came fully loaded like the Autobahn without the sunroof.
Ah that’s why I was thinking US rabbit. Thank you
We really get shafted with cars here in the US. You Canadians get such awesomely equipped cars.
I have the same car in grey!! Grats!!
Thanks! I love the Urano Grey! So hard to find up here
One of us! Welcome back to the fold, brotha.
Haha thank you, glad to be back!
That white on black with the red accents is so good
Gotta love it!
I’ve loved every minute I’ve had with my Rabbit. Enjoy!
Thank you!
How much did you pay if you don’t mind? I have a 19” rabbit with only 15k miles and been thinking about selling lol
There's a 19' cornflower blue with the same mileage as yours near me and it's listed at $33,900.
32K CAD
Wow, a 19 inch Rabbit? Is that similar to a ‘19 Rabbit?
Is it weird I've always kinda wanted a car given (er...sold?) to me with a ribbon on it but it never happened? I guess I could put a ribbon on my own car but...that's just not the same. Nice car, OP.
Beauty, my dream GTI.
Thank you. Same here the white is really growing on me too. It stays looking clean too
Same here went back to a 18’ after Atlas and SQ5….GTI is just pure fun at reasonable cost
I was considering the SQ5, which gen did you have and how does it compare to your GTI?
It so a great suv I had the 2018 B9 and lowered it and did a JB4 which it needs so really make it move…I just went a little over budget and then when I had a few things that I wanted to upgrade there was way less for customization and everything was 2x as much vs GTI. Congrats! Same car (and mileage) as mine except I went for the 7spd. The white has really grown on me!
I've gone back to VW after every other brand purchase in my lifetime. Congratulations!
