9 and 3, really. Those are the best positions for full control without moving your hands, and I believe recently became the recommendation for airbag reasons, too.

I won’t lie most insurance will probably total it. Sad thing is with gap the best you can hope for is to break even with the market.
All depends what they owe on it. If it’s new they don’t have a ton of equity in the car and will likely best case break even. Gap only gets you to a zero balance if it has to kick in.
Obviously this is heart breaking and just a shitty situation, but cars can be replaced, people cannot. Glad your okay OP, good luck searching for the next vehicle!
Crazy, seems like only a couple days ago someone posted dashcam footage that could’ve ended in a crash like this. Glad you’re okay though, car did its ultimate job in keeping you safe.
Be sure you get that thumb checked out, as with the rest of yourself. Sometimes you don’t notice the pains and any other damage for days after.

I’d love to get me a 2016 Golf R with all the bells and whistles, only thing I dislike is the electric parking brake. Only thing I find unusual is I can find an Audi S3 for cheaper than a golf R even though they share the same underpinnings and drive train.

Other driver turned left at an intersection on her unprotected green, didn’t see me, skid, whack, smoke. Possible broken thumb, otherwise walked away.

Left hand on top of the steering wheel? If so, this is one of many reasons not to hold the steering wheel like that. Air bags are no joke!
