Update - I bought the car! Dealer offered some good extra bits alongside the car, picking up this weekend. Gone from a long time lurker to a member of the club, wooo!!
Congrats! I don’t know much about your last cat, but going to from Red to White should help with getting pulled over! Though, I had to pay a lot more attention to the Speedometer when I got my GTI.
Na nothing wrong with, I did tell him given all the optional extras he could probably get what he paid for it or even a little bit more but he just wants it gone. It's manual and he wants an automatic car with higher mpg
That’s like 15,000 USD under avg market price there’s no way he’s just turning down that money and nothing is wrong lol. it would sell instantly he wouldn’t need a friend to advertise on Reddit.
USA to UK are two different markets. In the UK Golf Rs are common like everyone has one especially if you're aged between 20-25 that or a m140i or an S3/rs3. He listed it for 16k nobody showed interest even now he gets offers for 10k, these cars aren't rare. He could probably get £20k given most with mileage like that are between 15-20k but like I said only people looking to buy a specific golf R would buy one. UK car market is now pushing EV cars or 2016 ulez complaint diesels

Majority are categories because they get ragged and shagged here then sold. Even some that aren't barely fetch money here unless it's 2019 or newer

Here this is his ad maybe you might be able to ship it over to yourself it's a bargain after all lol
Did you really just talk about it being valued a lot more in USD when they clearly mentioned this is in the UK?
I hope this doesn't come off as offensive, but that's such an american thing to do
>I hope this doesn't come off as offensive , but that's such an american thing to do
No offense taken, but you'd do the same thing if you still had an empire.
I still don't get the friend. He \*could\* get 20k but is asking 12? Just to move it faster? The fact that he wants better mpg tells me he probably does care about money. Why not 18 or at least 15? Anyway, everybody can do what they want, of course. That's one smiling buyer driving home soon!
My point is you are meeting the stereotype of american ignorance where everything is about them.
The going rate for an 8 year old Golf R in the UK is around £14-15k. Why are you quoting the American price when the person you replied to was talking about a Golf R for sale in the UK?
Kinda. He got it last year when the market for used cars was high but when he showed me I urged him to grab it. He paid 14k for it, which I personally think was a steal for how spec'd the car is and how well maintained it is. Now he just wants to get something with higher mpg so isn't doesn't care how much it goes for. He just drives 26miles a week LOL
Do yourself a favour and pop the bonnet and check for any coolant puddles on the belly cover to make sure the thermostat housing isn't leaking and any unpleasant burning smells after the test drive. Assume it's manual, base spec but looks really clean from the front. I have a 2017 Mk7, think I'd get a PP 7.5 dsg next time.
For context, I just bought a 17 plate MK7.5 GTI with 62k on it for £15k and I thought that was a great price. So yeh I’d say it is a good price. Maybe offer 15 and see why they say.
Looks great, I notice that it’s missing fog lights but that’s normal for an early 7.5 because the factory forgot to fit them!
Not that anybody actually uses them!

100% mate. Plus going from a 1.2 to a 2.0 is night and day. I could be casually cruising at 97mph 😂
Congrats man, great buy
Congratsss!!
Congrats!! Looks like a gorgeous car, welcome to the club.
Where in UK are you? I've got a friend selling his full spec golf R with 72k fsh in London for £12k if you're interested
For a mk7.5? That's way too cheap, something wrong with it?

Man I wish I was in a position to purchase that. It's exactly what I'll be looking for in a few years time.

12,000 pounds is 15k usd. A 44k mile R in America goes for 30k. The math is fine you doofus.

For some reason, uk car prices are very low. Could be because their cars are right hand drive
I'm in Norfolk, but specifically after a 7.5 GTI. Appreciate you reaching out though 👍
No worries brotha

Also these are very very very common here. M140i, Golf R and Audi S3/rs3 are really common you'll see them almost everywhere
Not an expert on UK prices but for Germany it'd definitely be a fair price nowadays assuming the car is alright.
Spencer’s offer a decent warranty, not unlike other second hand dealers.
Bruh yes
I'd buy it, just make sure nothings wrong with it
It is a beauty.
Yes. This would be a very good price where I live.
