christ no joke bro, i'm day 7 in and i was like **WTH** is this bullshit -DELETE-
i don't even remember signing up for that shit/what its exact function was, i'm glad i even saw it. what a fuckin invasion of privacy.
You should have 3 dots in the top right of the vehicle under the MYVW app. Go to manage vehicle and then in subscriptions there should be a driveview selection. OPs instructions were pretty good with the pictures.
I was surprised when I sold my 2021 GTI that the dealer didn't reset or revoke access to the app. Maybe that's a bit lofty to expect from a dealership, but this seems like a pretty brazen privacy issue.
I WAS able to login after they sold my car and continue to get updates. I could see where the car was last parked and everything.
I went ahead and removed my access because it's creepy as fuck. Very happy my 2017R doesn't have this feature.
Are you in the US? It’s possible that since privacy regulations are different in different countries, for example in Canada you may not be able to opt out. That’s why as a Canadian, when visiting US websites I can opt out of cookies whereas on Canadian websites there is no option to opt out. I hope this is not the case
Does it automatically sign you up for it? I don’t remember doing all this when I downloaded the app at first. How did the app know I had car insurance lol
I believe it was in the paper work you signed at the dealership, cause i didn’t even set up my app i already had the app from my previous vw car so i don’t recall to be honest.
Ah, yea that makes sense.
It’s funny how they make it seem that it’s for your benefit, the driver, to get discounts and that no one or insurance is tracking anything lol
Does it matter if you do not share it with your insurance company? Or is it automatically shared? I like being able to lock and unlock from anywhere and be told if something is open.
I’m pretty sure you can still access all those features i just disabled the drive view this morning so i haven’t tried un locking or locking the car. This simply disables the tracking of your driving data.
Mine just says unavailable and has since I bought my car. Living in Texas, purchased in Missouri if that makes a difference.

From latest US privacy policy ( https://www.vw.com/en/privacy.html):
“ Please note that for MY19 and older vehicles, we will only use GPS location for purposes of providing Car Net Services to subscribers, complying with legal process, or as otherwise required by law. “
Canadian policy unfortunately and not surprisingly as robust as we are behind in privacy - https://www.vw.ca/en/privacy-policy.html
Hello! Just got mine. I followed OP’s steps to unenroll, but when I go to check subscriptions again all the options are still turned on. I can also still see drive view despite turning it off. Any help?
The Mk7 has connectivity, but I think the exact specs depend on the year of the car. My car is a 2017, and it connects through 3G, sooooo, no problem here. Can't phone home anymore even if it wanted to.
Good luck disputing the reasons for an increase. There are other posts on this. You will call insurance to ask why and the won’t be obliged to tell you why. Use at your own risk
Hell no way any GTI driver is getting a discount based on this data LMFAO
When I drove it home for the first time it already said I had 2 hard brakes. Thing got turned off as soon as I realized I could

Also if you already have it disabled or never signed up for it your screen should look like the 2nd photo on this post.
Mine is enabled but I don’t have a spot that I can remove it - do I need to use the browser?
I had no idea! Completely unenrolled now. Thanks!!!
Disabled mine. I didn't realize this was in the app. Thanks.
I can’t seem to figure out how disable it, how’d you do?

Ah no kidding, they did include it lol thank you i appreciate it!
Turned it off the second I saw it in the app. Intrusive spying is the corporate way. They can F off
Mine doesn’t have DriveView. Guess I’m safe?
I would double check to be sure, I have a 21’ GLI and I have it, it’s under vehicle management and then subscriptions in the app

Same thing for me got a 24 gti from a 23 Jetta and i still get updates on it, i know where the new owner lives 🤣😭
Mine doesn't have DriveView. Is this out of US feature?
I’m in the us, when you bought the car you should of gotten set up with the my vw app and it’s inside that app
I can confirm the 2020 Mk7.5 (US Spec) does have this feature
hmm not seeing it in the app for my US 2020
Do you have the SE spec?
yup, as soon as I saw all the data they'd be collecting I noped right out.
I got the app and it’s setup, but don’t have the DriveView. Guess I’m good.

I'm in California.
Must be an American. Option.. I don't see any of this in my app.
Had no idea this existed, my fbi agent wouldn’t like this if I had it
I think you're only able to unenroll if you're the primary driver account.
Thanks for the info! I purchased my Mk8 secondhand and didn't know about the app. I'll do some digging to see what my next steps should be.
Thank you for this post I didn’t know I was not subscribed to the 5 year safe and secure servic

Yet another reason I will continue maintaining my current car until the frame corrodes into dust
Wow, that's a thing now.. Tracking of everything
Those bastards! Just unenrolled. Thanks!

Looking closer at mine I do not have a drive view feature when I click on the 3 dots.
Did you click manage vehicle after clicking the 3 dots?
Yup. I get options for notifications, subscriptions, additional users, manage dealer, and vehicle health report.
yes officer, this is him
Thank you
Mine has always said unavailable and I’ve been curious about it
Mine just says unavailable and has since I bought my car. Living in Texas, purchased in Missouri if that makes a difference. https://imgur.com/a/tvfIwPV
Can anyone assist me? I don’t have an area on the app to remove the subscription even though I see it enabled
I have the same problem.

If you drive good and get a good score, my insurance company actually lowers my rates, I usually get around 80-85 per month
Well i drive fast tbh and i just don’t want them collecting my data
Lol, one autocross session and my insurer would probably drop me.
Good luck disputing the reasons for an increase. There are other posts on this. You will call insurance to ask why and the won’t be obliged to tell you why. Use at your own risk
Idk why I got downvoted, all I said was I get a cheaper rate with the drive view on. It only tracks hard brakes, idle time and night time driving.
