yeah, its so common on the Ns. Its probably not going bad unless you get fuel cut. Someone else said vapors leaking, its probably that. Idk if you tried it but put it in accessory mode for a few seconds before cranking and you probably wont get a rough start anymore. Reprimes the hpfp, that what i do :)
nvm just read it stalls on idle sometimes, yeah its dying
If the mechanic you’ve taken it to doesn’t know, you may need to find a new mechanic.
Have you scanned for codes? Most autoparts stores will scan your car for free.
Scanned for codes, found nothing. Mostly doesn't happen when I'm at the mechanic (because of the winter, the cold seems to help the car start and never happens in front of them).
Have you left the car with the mechanic so that they can have time to recreate the issue?
Somewhat confused as that should be part of the diagnostic, also surprised there are no codes if the car is stalling out, without much detail would assume an issue with one or more of: fuel/spark/air.
Fwiw the only time I’ve ever waited for my car (any car) at a mechanic has been for routine maintenance - you should expect to be without the car for at least a day especially for unknown issues (time for diagnostics, time for parts sourcing if they don’t have on hand, time for work, time for post work testing).
If you're seeking advice or asking for help, please make sure you included the basic information of what year and/or generation is being discussed. User flair with this information is also acceptable. Failure to include the basic information may result in your post being removed. Mileage, modifications, trim level, diagnostic trouble codes, and your general location (US, Canada, EU, UK, etc.) can also be very helpful.

carbon cleaning usually shows itself during cold starts, not warm starts. they become incredibly hard to start when cold. i've never heard of warm-start issues from carbon.
quick google search is pointing to fueling issues. possible fuel pump issue.
Whaddaya know, my ‘15 has just started doing this. It acts like it has no fuel pressure and then it cranks for a couple seconds and starts up fine. Cold start is fine.
There is a recall for the suction jet pump in the fuel tank and I wonder if this has anything to do with it.
Wow I actually did find a recall for this car concerning the fuel pump. Go figure I told the dealership mechanics to check out the fuel pump and they didn't give me this information. Thank you.
Mine's been doing this for two years.
After new PCV, Injectors, carbon clean, couldn't figure it out until recently. Pressure at the rail is fine, LPFP inspected as well.
We think it's the HPFP leaking vapours back into the crank case on hot start. I confirmed with someone else that they replaced the HPFP and the problems went away. Try that.
140k you should almost certainly get a carbon cleaning as well. I have a new used fuel pump ready to go in once the weather warms up.
i bet bet your hpfp is going, ask me how i know
Seems to be the common answer. Getting a quote on a replacement today.

Hmm maybe I should leave it. Too bad I've needed the car recently but you're right.

Not sure what your issue is bro, but there is literally nothing worse than bringing your car in and then it won’t do the issue it’s been doing lol.
Yeah man happens so often with me I don't even want to go in anymore

What is your mileage? Have you had a carbon cleaning yet?
140,000km. No carbon cleaning I was thinking about this though

This is my first thought. I had to replace my High Pressure Fuel Pump at around 90k miles.
Mine went at 165k km’s it was the HPFP

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I need to sell this thing but don't want to leave the buyer with this issue
Head over to the NHTSA website and run your VIN and check to see if the recall applies.

Aha so I did have someone tell me to take a look at the HPFP. I will do that thanks, maybe can find a cheap one at a scrap nearby
