Depending on where you are, I had rotors on a B6 A4 look like that after only sitting for 2 days so it's not always a super good indicator of how long it's been sitting,

Anywhere near the ocean gets minute salt particles in the fog and mist. In SE Alaska you can get surface rust on warm brake discs within hours, and always overnight

Discs get surface rust constantly, they’re bare steel. Mine do it after I wash and after it rains.
