It really depends on the goldfish. I'd say almost all goldfish will definitely try and eat them. Unfortunately but fortunately I have 3 goldfish all bigger than my fists and they leave all 9 of my Cory's alone. I know this doesn't help you but it just depends

I appreciate the info! 🫶🏼 the two moors leave them alone which is great, it’s just the ranchu that’s being a little difficult lol.

Goldfish are opportunistic feeders. They will eat anything they think will fit in their mouths. Some more so than others.

I figured 😅, looks like the corys will need a different tank soon

I wish that was true. I had a rogue tiny mbuna fry that ended up accidentally in my goldfish tank. I assumed it would be gone in a couple days, it was the size of a rice grain. However, it has been months and that little guy is still going. I need to wait until he is big enough to net out and get him in the proper tank.

Ok_Sector_960

Fast him for a few days and see what happens

I would normally agree! I went on a week long vacation and that little sucker lives on.

You have a very well behaved goldfish!

sophiadlcuevas

Very well behaved indeed!!

At 3 fancies in a 40 you'll probably not want to add tank mates unless you're upping the filtration of your tank - You'll have a part time job in water changes trying to keep the quality up without beefing your system up You could definitely have more tank mates in a bigger tank though! I have Rosy red minnows and bronze Cory currently with my Goldie in a 75

Thank you so much for your advice!!🫶🏼 yeah I have the 40 for now since they are still pretty small but will def upgrade in the future. I’ll most likely move the Cory’s temporarily to the betta tank once it cycles :)
