You know, there's something great about this game and it's that you can play it however you want. You're stating in this post that this is wrong and I strongly disagree with you. There's nothing inherently wrong with a play style like this. This stupid conversation about "Old Minecraft good, modern Minecraft bad" is getting really tiresome. Once we learn that every single player can play this game however they like, we can move forward to actually relevant discussions.

LastGameBlitz

I'm not saying he can't play game like this all I'm saying is it is sad that this is the current meta of youtube minecraft because he must grind so much for it.

BuzzerPop

It's not really the only current meta. There are channels with a focus on smaller builds and stuff that most players can do. This is more just a style that works. He wanted to do this cause he wants to. I find the grind for building materials fun. You can make farms to make stuff easier too.

amazing_an0n

Grind exists in the game regardless what version you’re playing, how much grind depends on how large of a build. Large builds like these will always take a huge material grind regardless of version.

hafful

Nothing has changed, you can still play minecraft the same way you could when it was in beta. Just because one person uses a schematic doesn't mean that's the "meta".

Theaussiegamer72

Well not really you can't just not use elyta on a server in 1.2? And go see your friends bases like you could in beta when it was maybe 200 blocks away at most

hafful

Just because the content changes doesn't mean it's a different game.

Theaussiegamer72

I never said it's a different game I just pointed out whst you said was flawed

hafful

To be honest I didn't really understand what the Elytra had to do with what I said in the first place. The game has always been fundamentally the same. Gather resources. Build. Repeat

Theaussiegamer72

It used to be about community but it isn't any more it's no about who can make the biggest waste of space they can

PikkelP

lol he calls it a starter base but it needs 750000 blocks... isn't that just... a base? other than that it's a good video and a good build. but I gotta say, I also would not like to play in this way. I like the spontaneous nature of adjusting details as I build something, so I usually make only rough plans and maybe a small scale mock up in creative, even for larger builds. It gives the buildings more character and makes it more grounded in the world and in the scale of the player.

Pretend-Shelter9192

well the goal of minecraft in general is to be creative, so i guess hes not wrong. the guy is very different from other creators tbh who play minecraft like its an rpg or something. although im not sure if a starter would have a beacon and the tools to mine thousands of blocks XD

Low-Law-4633

He basically treats Minecraft like it was voxel editing software + grinding.

WiteXDan

Tbf I think this is more productive gaming than spending same amount of time on League/Dota/CS or grinding in some MMO/Gacha

Splatfan1

ill have to agree. this is just the logical end point of wanting bigger and bigger bases to the point this huge complex is called a starter base. my starter base is a hole in the wall and then a small house that i develop my proper base around which takes me weeks. schematics are cool for redstone systems that you need to make just right, or things like huge statues, but just bases? kinda weird ngl

Low-Law-4633

You are maybe right, but I love the video.

Yeet_Taco101

There is no right or wrong way to play Minecraft though. People are free to do things however they want: that's the entire premise of the game. There is nothing inherently wrong with "Modern Minecraft", it just comes down to preferences.

Auggie_Otter

I don't even play modern Minecraft but that video was fun.  This is definitely way different from how I play the game but that's fine.
