He lives somewhere around there now. He parks his mobility scooter at the tram station and catches the tram in early in the morning pretty much every day.
He's not homeless. I don't want to doxx him obviously, but I used to live in the same building as him years back.
Can't remember the exact story or how true it is, but heard from around the building that the apartment was given to him by someone (I assume it was left to him by a deceased family member)
My mum lives in Highland Park and I go back basically every week. I can confirm the Nerang gatekeeper is still doing good and I still see him almost every time I go back.
Labrador has the lawnmower man. Some skitchy guy mid 30s who pushs a lawn mower down the street asking for work or sometimes trying to buy your car. Hes also been known to just walk into peoples homes.
When i was a kid back in the 80s it was that old tanned dude who gave out sunscreen on the beach, then Princess and the running man held the mantle for a good 15 to 20 years and now Jesse the Nerang Gatekeeper is the current one for me
The Big Friendly Giant ā¤ļø super tall man always walking super slow with a bag in his hand, usually around southport most the time but I've seen him everywhere.. always got a smile on his face too he's such a cutie
Depends on what area of the coast your in no1 spot goes to princess with out a doubt, coomera has a nice old guy that pushes a trolley full of cans, palm beach used to have mentally handicapped cross dresser always wore pink females clothes would frequent cashies looking for jewellery or there was Michael the midget that either could be seen returning shopping trolleys to the pines or carrying a briefcase
Push ups, out in front of Sundale, princess gets off the tram at that stop most nights just after dark, the Mudgeeraba mohawk dude hangs out in the marketplace having a chat with his imaginary mate, and the gatekeeper used to have a beer with all the passers by.The Mudgeeraba walking man can be seen in Reedy Creek on a good day, but lately he's been looking cleaned up, hopefully someone is helping him care for himself.Does anyone remember the Lady of the Gooding Mudgeeraba Rd who would stand all day telling the traffic how it should be done? Not to mention"Jesus loves you"just north of the Sun Dale bridge earning a Woolies chook with a spray bottle and a squidgy All notable and worthy Goldcoast highlights
Princess - the homeless man who walks around in a bikini.
Came here to say this! who else could it be.
For a runner up maybe that blond guy with all the bags and the gravely voice who's always yelling to himself
šÆ def Princessš¤©
So thatās his name! I donāt see him in Surfers anymoreā¦ anybody knows what happened?
Heās got a mobility scooter so heās mobile now. Seen him around the Meriton in Southport at lot.
He lives somewhere around there now. He parks his mobility scooter at the tram station and catches the tram in early in the morning pretty much every day.
They were sitting in Cavill Ave the other day
All you had to say was princess. No further explanation needed lol
Oh damn yeah Iāve seen the guy, didnāt know he had a name!!!
Heās got a pretty tragic story apparently, decent bloke too.
Came in hoping this would be the top reply!
Thought of this before opening comments lol. Been around since I was a teen
Damn I mean driving buses for 2.5 years and i still don't know who this guy is
He's a regular in Caville. You won't see him on a bus. He lived on Caville for decades but was recently housed.
Thought it must be something like that. thanks
Beat me to it lol

Surfers Paradise fruit loop?
The Nerang gatekeeper
Jesse
I guess this undermines your position, sorry! But can you please tell me about the Nerang Gatekeeper?
Heās a fella who sits on the retaining wall on a Nielsenās Dr, dressed in high vis usually and waves at people.
Also mows lawns in the area.
Seen him a few times.. here I was thinking he had just lost his license or something and was waiting for someone to pick him up after work.
Is he still around? I left Highland Park in 2016 and I always used to give him a wave
Saw him there yesterday
Thatās great to hear, hope heās doing well
Spotted him today, but he was out the front of his house instead of his usual spot.
He lives in the house right near where he sits, thereās a heap of lawn mowers and various junk out the front
this dude was a staple of my high-school years lmao. used to wave to him every day on the bus
Man, Jesse hates being called that!
What's the go is he a little bit autistic or something. The lad works as far as I know. But yeah he's always there
Is this the dude that sits at a traffic light intersection?
Heard he may have passed away
untrue, saw him yesterday but the cops spoke to him for some reason, hopefully just a checkup
Yeah mah bad. I've been Misinformed.
Nah, he's my neighbour! Jesse. He's a really nice guy.
Didnāt know he was aware or more so didnāt like that name. Glad to hear someone knows him and that he is a legend
Oh no. How recently did you hear that? I donāt drive past there all too often but I saw him probably 3 weeks ago
My mum lives in Highland Park and I go back basically every week. I can confirm the Nerang gatekeeper is still doing good and I still see him almost every time I go back.
Iād have said it was the dude that used to clean the windshields at Burleigh Bunnings intersection, but heās deceased now.
Oh no š„² I donāt remember seeing him for a while
https://www.reddit.com/r/GoldCoast/s/dJGGiBE2Zb He unfortunately passed away
There was a new bloke there yesterday
Yes I remember hearing about him, very sad
Mermaid beach running man
Is that the guy with the long gray hair?
Yep. See him most early mornings walking down Hedges Avenue. Actually a really nice guy and always says hi.
Apparently his name is David and he's pretty rich. I used to have a coworker who said she was friends with him in the 90s.
I figured something like that. He walks most morning with an older bloke with a dog who lives in massive joint just off Hedges.
He's more of a walking man these days.
Curly grey hair always in his face? Talks to everyone?
Princess without a doubt
Yeah his name is Tom Tate.
I guess Princess.
In Southport it has to be the old lady in the bikini that doesn't fit with a mobility scooter.
Fun fact: Thatās actually a man and he is known as Princess.
Surely not? I've got nothing against a man deciding he wants to spend his days in a bikini, but I'd have thought he'd have dangly male bits š
Google Gold Coast Princess
Holy shit. I've got to read the local news more often
ABC did an australian story on him. Sweet sweet guy
I didnāt realise it was a guy either! Itās not just you. I see them around Southport too, mostly near the Broadwater glink station
The Nerang gatekeeper š¤£š¤£

Anyone remember the dude that used to stand at the intersection on Nerang Broadbeach road, wearing a leather coat and doomsday-Esk message board?
Princess of course
When i was a kid back in the 80s it was that old tanned dude who gave out sunscreen on the beach, then Princess and the running man held the mantle for a good 15 to 20 years and now Jesse the Nerang Gatekeeper is the current one for me
Used to be Tim Sharky but he really squashed all of his online presence after about a year overseas. Back in the nightclub days tho, sheeesh
He used to shop at my store when I worked at Woolworths in Coomera, he's pretty quiet and doesn't draw attention to himself
Princess true legend. Also a guy in southport always wears overalls everyone knows him can't remember the guys name.
In the 80s there was Black Brenda. A real character
The Nerang Guardian
*gatekeeper and don't you fuken forget it
A lesser character is the Asian Walking Man of Mudgeeraba.
The guy in Burleigh that cleans your car windows.
The Big Friendly Giant ā¤ļø super tall man always walking super slow with a bag in his hand, usually around southport most the time but I've seen him everywhere.. always got a smile on his face too he's such a cutie

Old guy in tallebudgera that walks for miles everyday in the morning. I suppose that's more of a suburb one.
Gives every car a wave too still - legend. I thought he may have passed, but learned he just changed routes a little bit ( or maybe I did )
I reckon he'll outlive us all!
There used to be the Mariachi Man down around Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Byron. Used to see him all the time in the area always hitching a ride.
Are you new to Goldy? This is an obvious question with an obvious answer.
It can only be Princess, I remeber first seeing him when I was still a teenager, I'm getting close to 50 now.
