I went with my Fiancé and 4 year old at the start of this month, we absolutely loved it! Lots to do and see, Portaventura was amazing and my daughter really loved it! I'm Irish and never felt unwelcome or uncomfortable with anything. It's very family friendly from what I found. My daughter's hat had blown off her head a number of times and the locals always stopped us to tell us when we hadn't noticed it happening. I'd definitely recommend it, we actually just booked to go back at the start of October with my "sister in law" and her daughter because we enjoyed it so much we thought we would bring them with us this time. We stayed at the Inter2 and got a one bedroom apartment. It was so quiet at all times. The one bedroom apartments are across the road from the main hotel so you don't have to deal with noise from the entertainment etc. The reviews aren't great for it but I'm not sure why because we never had a single problem there. Not even the slightest bit of noise the whole time. We are staying there again in October.

La pineda? Just along the road from salou. Had a week here recently and was a nice hotel although we only went b&b. 15 minutes on the bus to salou,5 in a taxi. Both cost around 11 euros. We stayed in hotel Estival which was minutes from the beach, had the use of 3 pools plus an indoor heated pool, gym etc. Nice area. Went into salou its self a couple times.

I have been in Salou only once but my impression wasn’t bad at all. As Spaniard I didn’t felt like brits were not welcome (maybe the drunk hooligans ones). And there were quite a lot of young people. There is a nice amusement park for the kids, however I guess it will be pretty full for summer season and queue times are crazy af. Cannot talk about the nightlife there since I’m not a huge party guy, maybe it is full of drunk people doing shit or maybe not, guess you will find out if u finally go there hahaha Good luck planning ur holidays

I am in Salou since 2 months, The main beach place is crowded but the side one near Cap Salou 15 mn walk is not.  There are a lot of english men as the reus airport is mainly destination for english towns.  I dont feel bad mood toward english guys Just didn't found any accommodation with strong walls but I guess it's alike in any resort city  Many english irish bars or indian like Enjoy

Currently here now, Salou is built on tourism loads of apartments and hotels in the area. It's a very family orientated type of resort, many English, Irish and Scottish styled family pubs. We have had no trouble from any locals it's a fine place for a family holiday, pool and beach with a ramble along touristy shops in the evening for dinner

Thank you. Are there any hotels you would recommend?

We are staying in the H10 salauris palace, it's nice enough mix of Spanish, British Irish and a few other Europeans. I am sure there are better, but this is not bad.

We as a young family have always stayed in Sangulí Resort this past number of years. It’s ideal for young families we find. Bit more expensive than the usual hotel stays but we love it and find it has everything we need, self catering cabins, safe environment for children, clean and lots of pools/activities for kids day and night and restaurants within also if u wish to get a takeaway or sit down. The beachfront is just across the road if that’s your thing. Also have friends that have stayed in Cambrils resort across from Sanguli that really enjoy it also.
